Fantastic veggie menu of the day in a really cool spot! - Edit

They have a specific vegetarian menu of the day for 10.500, which is fantastic and super filling and changes daily. There is nice outdoor seating and the staff are super friendly (mostly). We've heard the veggie burger is great too, but can't get past the menu. We were a bit disappointed with their breakfast though. Coffee is decent.

They also have a lot of products for sale, including lots of good fresh bread and many bulk items and tons of fake meats.

They also have a painting of Jesus juggling bread.

Note: The map shows this place near the 2nd Parque de Laureles, but it should be a block from Carrera 70. The address listed is correct though.

Pros: Jesus juggling bread, Great, inexpensive lunch menu, Lots of fake meats

Cons: People trying to sell you stuff when seated outsid

The best in Medellin so far! - Edit

The meal of the day here ranges from organic chicken, river fish, and salmon to vegan and raw food. The meals come with soup, drink and dessert. Expect to pay $15,000 per meal.

They also have nachos, gluten-free quinoa cookies, chocolate bars and more.

They are closed Sundays.

Pros: Excellent meals of the day, Gluten-free wholesome breads, Incredibly diverse inventory

Cons: No beef on the menu, Closed Sundays, No homemade yogurt

Opciones - Edit

Only breakfast place around - Edit

Seeing that it said Desayuna (breakfast) I took the trip all the way out here one morning. Eh, it was ok. A lot of meat and dairy stuff to navigate around, no vegan pancakes and no vegan French toast ... So what was there?!

When I said I was vegan server recommended this tofu plate: tofu perico, it came with hot chocolate and a piece of bread. It was just warmed up tofu with some red-colored vegetable mixed into it that begins with an H.

It was ok, but such a small portion, I was still hungry. I got a piece of chocolate cake and a smoothie as well and they were good.

Pros: Open early

Cons: Few vegan desayuna items, Tiny portions

Great raw vegan find - Edit

This restaurant has a daily menu that includes a vegetarian and raw vegan option for $11000 COP. This is the first place I have found in Colombia that offers raw vegan food, and it was delicious. They also sell all kinds of breads and many other products. It's worth checking out.

Pros: Raw vegan option, Sells vegan/ vegetarian products

Room for improvement - Edit

We used to buy their bread occasionally at Saludpan. However several times when we have asked questions about the ingredients, the response from the clerks has been guessing about it or else a shrug (who knows, or cares?). A clerk would look at a loaf labeled oat bread, for example, and say that it contained oats. Beyond that, no interest or effort to find out the rest of the ingredients. The ingredients are important to know for people with special dietary needs. For consumers who are used to reading ingredients right on the label, this is a big disappointment especially when the staff is unwilling or too lazy to be helpful.

Pros: Good products, Nice atmosphere

Cons: Lack of consumer information, Staff has little knowledge of products, Indifferent service

Great Place - Edit

Saludpan is a wonderful, healthy, unexpected escape from the frequently fried, overcooked, heavy meat meals of Colombia.
I think it is fantastic they offer not only vegan and raw options but also fish and I believe chicken. I think this encourages people who are not willing to eat a completely meatless meal to at least experience new grains, vegetables and healthy preparations of food.
It is also the only place I have found so far to get "real" peanut butter (just ground nuts)they make it fresh. They also have a large variety of whole grain breads for sale and a couple tasty gluten free options.

Pros: great food

Cons: grocery store products a bit expensive

Excellent food and ambiance - Edit

Love this little restaurant. The food was delicious, fresh and flavorful. They have meat as well as vegetarian options. There's an outdoor seating area as well as inside. They have a great store with all kinds of natural products including a bulk food section, several kinds of tofu, organic produce and whole grain breads - all of which can be difficult to find in Colombia.

It is a little more expensive at $9000COP (about $5 USD) for a set lunch but you're getting great food, beautiful presentation and a lovely setting.

This is a restaurant worth going to time and time again.

Pros: Excellent food, Friendly service, Nice vibe

peaceful cafe atmosphere, high quality products - Edit

Both a predominantly vegetarian restaurant as well as a small organic foods market. Located near to "La 70," an active street in the Laureles neighborhood filled with bars and hotels, it's a great respite from the city that reminds me a bit of NYC village cafe. It is aimed at a more mid-upper class clientele than spots in the center, so prices are slightly higher.

They have a fixed meal which often includes quinoa, amaranth, and other good grains, and also offer several juices and vegan deserts. They carry the vegan ice cream line found in Vegetus. Although they seem to be over 90% veg, with emphasis on macrobiotic, there are a few meat dishes available.

Great if you are staying in the Laureles/Estadio area, also worth a visit to check out the area and stock up on goods.

Pros: nice atmosphere, high quality products

Cons: not open late, serves meat
