Great food and a great view - Edit
The effort in the menu and the food can be felt, especially the pizzas. A pure vegan restaurant, without the use of onion or garlic. It's a peaceful, classy place with a view of the city, with English-speaking, friendly staff. One of the best places in Shanghai, if not the best.

Yummy Vegan Pizza in Shanghai🧡 - Edit
I had a wonderful afternoon with my friend here yesterday. We ordered a vegan pizza (spicy mushroom flavor🍄🟫🌶️) and two cups of Latte.
Read moreI didn’t expect the vegan cheese on the pizza to be so creamy and light at the same time. That’s really a WOW! The sweet and spicy sauce tastes very local. But it goes really well with such a typical western cuisine. So I was amazed at the first bite. Definitely a must-try!

Thank you, Olivia. With the light creamy homemade vegan cheese , the healthy natural whole wheat flour and the unique fragrance of the mushroom , the pizza you ordered is on the top three list of the most popular pizzas in our restaurant, your thoughtful feedback encouraged us to keep exploring and create more WOW experiences to our customers. Thank you again and hope to see you again.

Amazing Healthy Vegan meal - Edit
What I really loved was the food is cooked without oil! And it was so delicious! We had spinach soup, mushrooms, potatoes, tofu squares & tempeh plus a pizza with white flower tea. We even saved room for a pink moon cake which we were told was an 800 year old recipe.

Cons: No alcohol served - not a big deal for me

Pleasant meal - Edit
A nice vegan place. Quite expensive, but some excellent choices. Note that the restaurant has moved and is sadly not at the address still given on the Happy Cow map (rather, it’s a 40min walk away / three subway stations with one change). It’s now on the forth floor of the shopping centre right next to the Natural History Museum. You can get off the subway in LL2 and take the lift to the fourth floor.
Read morePros: Lion’s mane ‘steak’, Very friendly and lovely service
Cons: Coconut-oil desert, Long walk there (Happy Cow location is wrong)

As another user mentioned, the adress is correct. The one located on the forth floor of One Museum Place is their other restaurant called Pure Vegan.

There is an extensive coffee and tea menu with many teapots and utensils on display.

World class food and service - Edit
We headed to If Vegan during a layover en route to New Zealand. We were so lucky to find this gem of a place on Happy Cow. Finding the place on the North Shaanxi is fairly easy, you just need to head up to the 3rd floor of the building.
Read moreWe received exceptional service here and were made to feel so welcome. The wait staff took great care to show us the menu and explain everything in impeccable English, as well as make recommendations. The menu was available in English with all ingredients clearly labelled. Staff were extremely attentive, consistently filling our water and anticipating our needs at every turn. There was a lovely calm atmosphere in the restaurant when we arrived off-peak, which allowed the lovely staff to talk to us more about the restaurant and their food. Their enthusiasm for the vegan way of life is wonderful. They also have a lovely book collection for you to peruse.
We were told their vegan pizza is famous in Shanghai and rightly so! I didn't expect that the best pizza of my life would come from China to be honest. We ordered the truffle pizza, with huge juicy chunks of lions mane mushroom and it was not scant on the truffle, as many other restaurants can be! We adored it so much, we ordered a second one to takeaway for our next long haul flight! The second pizza was just as incredible, containing a mushroom derived from the area whose name was difficult to translate. It had a sweet, nutty texture to it. We also ordered some delicious marinated tofu, which came with a spiced dipping sauce, which was also great for dunking pizza crusts! For desserts, we were delighted to be able to order yoghurts in two different flavours, which were so rich and creamy, you could be fooled into thinking there is dairy in them! They also gave us an additional chocolate crispy snack to try, which was delicious!
There aren't enough words to explain how pleased we were to find this place. After walking much of the city and being barrage by the sights and smells of dead animals on the busy marketplaces, it felt like a safe haven! We were happy to learn they have recently opened a second restaurant called Pure Vegan, which is a short walk away from here. We hope to be able to visit this location on our return layover! We can't thank the staff enough for their kindness and hospitality. My husband and I travel a lot and I can honestly say we were blown away by the kindness of their staff and the quality of their food! Absolutely world class!

Not bad - Edit
Unfortunately when we visited this place there were only a few positions available to order. I was surprised, because I saw many interesting dishes on HappyCow.
Read moreWe ordered two pizzas, and I was surprised once again, it was so small for the price. It cost about 170 rmb for one. I can’t say it was anything phenomenal, just a good pizza (but the cheese was a little too sweet for me)
I can’t leave a bad review just because of the stuff. The people who work there were very friendly and I enjoyed the atmosphere, service and our conversation
Pros: Pizza sauce and dough was amazing , The atmosphere and service
Cons: Price

As If - Edit
Open again after the lockdown and still serving amazing food. We went last night for the first time in too long, they have changed some menu items and we were amazed. First was pumpkin with quinoa & mustard, SO delicious, the balance of flavous with the crunchy quinoa, then the teriyaki eggplant, subtle yet tasty but finally the fried tofu topped with grape juice, ginger, wild rice & lemon, oh my dog it was superb, such a concoction of flavours, outstanding.
Read moreI've actually been here only twice before, once when they'd stopped serving lunch & the other time was a Sunday afternoon but I was new to Shanghai & hadn't been on top of my reviews. So our friends revisited this place & said we needed to go back, so we did. The choice of food on offer is amazing & the place has a nice ambience. There were four of us so we could sample more dishes. The mushroom & courgette pizza was delicious, but everything was, the cumin roast potatoes, the tvp in cumin, the curry dumplings, the summer rolls, the black pepper lions mane mushroom, the stuffed tofu & the sauteed greens, everything was fantastic. We split 3 desserts too, a lemon cheesecake, a chocolate mousse cake & a chocolate ball, all were great. It's a little on the pricey side but the quality is excellent and I think you'd be hard pushed to find fault with anything here.
From Wednesday 25th Oct 23. I was back in Shanghai & wanted to come here again, lucky for me they have just moved premises and are easily accessible from the metro at Shanghai Museum of Natural History, on the 4th floor of the mall & there's even a great roof terrace to appreciate. The wonderful staff remembered us even though it's been over ten months since we were last there. We had 2 non-vegan friends join us and they were blown away by the standard of the food. It was even better than I'd remembered. One small tip is if you want a dessert, order it with your mains so it has time to defrost, we had the black sesame cheesecake which was delicious but we were too impatient to let it fully defrost.

Best vegan food in Shanghai - Edit
This is my favorite vegan restaurant in Shanghai. I went there many times between 2016-2019, but can't go back now since I'm based in the US and there are travel restrictions, so I'm just sitting at home missing it. The menu is huge and full of creative, fresh, satisfying options. It's conveniently on an iPad with pictures, so that you can order even if you don't speak Mandarin. The staff was always warm and welcoming. Get lots of things so that you can try as much as possible. I still dream of some of their dishes.
