My new favorite spot in the Bay Area - Edit
Not just a great vegan restaurant—thought it’s definitely that. It’s also a place you can easily bring non vegans to show them how great vegan cuisine can be. The chorizo taco took me back to Mexico. The shrimp and cauliflower tacos were also amazing. The Esquite was also a surprise standout.

Amazing vegan Mexican cuisine - Edit
Amazing vegan Mexican. I had the Mushroom Veggie Burrito. It was filling and tasty.
Read moreFriendly service. My friend got the burrito bowl and enjoyed it.
The thing is it was a chilly January evening and the only seating was outdoors.
The sister location nearby has indoor location. It serves veg and non-veg items.
Our server does both veg and non-veg yet regularly eats at the vegan location.
Add indoor seating to bump it to 5 stars.
Pros: Tasty vegan Mexican
Cons: Only outdoor seating

One of my favorite spots in Oakland! Have come here a few times in the past year now.

Pros: Super yummy and filling, Rewards system, Good pricing
Cons: Not much seating (but never been much issue)

SO GOOD - Edit
So many protein options, we didn’t know what to do with ourselves! I think we ordered 9 tacos total between the two of us. They were all delicious and beautifully presented. The horchata and fresh squeezed OJ were AMAZE too. Cannot recommend enough!!

Amazing tacos - Edit
So delicious! I had 2 tacos, “shrimp” and “al pastor”, plus a coconut horchata. My mom (not vegan or vegetarian) said the vegan carne asada was the best taco she’d ever had!

Love love love - Edit
Whether you're more into the mock means or having a whole foods plant based dish, rico rico vegano has it.
Read moreThe food certainly tastes authentic and genuine to what it's trying to produce. Despite tacos being on the pricey side, it is well worth it given the quality of the handmade tortilla they make. I personally go for the burritos each time I am here because that is where they play their strengths.
The agua frescas are also great and can't come here without either getting some Jamaica (hibiscus) or the coconut horchata.
Pros: Quality food, Reasonable prices, Large portions
Cons: Salsa packs in plastic

Tacos Optimized for Social Media - Edit
The unique thing about Rico Rico Vegano is that they mix pitaya fruit into their masa to make the tortillas come out pink. I’m sure it gets tagged in lots of social media posts by influencers.
Read moreHaving said that, the food is awesome and delicious!! Have liked everything I tried.
While this shop is 100% vegan, it’s the sibling location of Rico Rico Taqueria across the street which is not a vegan business. If it’s your first time coming here, be sure to double check that you’re at Rico Rico Vegano in order to avoid any confusion.
Pros: Pretty tacos, Excellent flavor, Quick service
Cons: Salsa comes in plastic bags

Best meal of my trip - Edit
I’m almost tearing up at how perfect this place is. I had only one day to spend in the east bay during my trip to California and had a seriously hard time narrowing down where to eat. Oakland and Berkeley seemed to have a great number of Asian vegan food options, but after glancing at the gorgeous photos of the tacos, bowls, and quesadillas at Rico Rico Vegano, I knew this was the right choice. Their magenta tacos (that owe their color to dragonfruit!) won me over immediately. The more closely I looked at the menu, the more excited I became. They have ELEVEN different types of vegan tacos that include a great mix of healthy veggies (calabacitas, nopal, mushrooms), crispy fried options (konjac camarones, cauliflower), and fake meats (carne asada made from seitan, soyrizo, soy chicken). I opted for the carne asada and the soyrizo, and both were popping with flavor and insanely fresh. I appreciated the simple garnishes of cilantro and onion since I prefer to avoid fake cheese (though many of their tacos do come with fake cheese and honestly it looks great). I got the 2-taco combo with beans and rice but actually requested double beans instead of rice, because how often do you get to have vegan pinto beans? The plate came with pickled carrots and radishes, a nice little touch. Their homemade salsas are delicious (red and green). I’m basically obsessed with this place. The food tastes as good as it looks. Don’t miss the chance to come here.

I eat here a couple times a week usually. Everything is great. More of a to go place but there are tables outside. Their salsa is great and I usually get pink tacos or a chik’n and cheeze quesadilla.

Good good - Edit
The food here is really good and I fought myself on giving it 4 or 5 stars, it's 4.314 imo. The area is busy and parking was a challenge and for me I'd prefer slightly bigger portions but I eat a lot. Rock solid nonetheless and I'm sure I'll be back when I'm in the area.

Soo unique and delicious! - Edit
I ordered the carne asada burrito for my brother-- without telling him it was vegan, he didn't even realize, and he said it was really good. The cauliflower tacos had this unique crisp to it that made it absolutely delicious. 10/10 recommend, exceptional restaurant for vegans and non-vegans alike.
