The dishes were amazing, very well prepared and beautifully presented. All food is vegan and organic. The price is quite fair, and the staff very patient with our poor spanish. We'll definitely be back!

Muito bom! - Edit
Vale a pena! E está em um bairro bem legal para se caminhar depois de comer.

Great food! - Edit
The restaurant is quite small and was very busy, so if you're in a group of more than 2 I'd definitely make a reservation! The food is really nice, and seems very healthy. Today's menu del dia (which costs 13.50 euro) was a cabbage & polenta salad, pasta with carrots & chickpeas and orange, banana & cinnamon cake. The staff are great here too!

Could be better service - Edit
I arrived a while after 1pm when they should have been opened for lunch menu but it was still closed even though the opening hours told something different. Had a short walk in neighborhood and came 30 min later. They were finally open. The waitress asked me if I had a reservation, I said no. The restaurant was (except one couple) completely empty yet I was seated at the bar so they could probably save the normal tables for customers with reservation... Soup and main dish was really tasty and I have nothing bad to say about the food. When I was finishing with the main dish, customers started to come. Nobody with reservation... :-) but they got the normal tables. Anytime the waitress walked around me she bumped my chair so I tried to get closer to bar, had no place for legs nor for my pregnancy belly... I thought I'll just have a dessert which was included in the menu and leave because the place I was sitting at was really uncomfortable. Unfortunately staff ignored me. One waitress took my empty plate after 10 min. After another 10 min another waitress took my glass. Then one of them looked at me the way "you are still here??!!! Why??" then I asked if I might have a dessert. She looked surprised like if it wasn't included in the menu... Got it, ate it and wanted to leave but the staff ignored me again. After 10 min I GOT UP and waited standing. Finally someone noticed. The restaurant wasn't full during my visit. I do not understand why I got such a poor place to sit and do not understand the slow service either. I give 3 stars only because of good food but honestly I wouldn't repeat my visit here...

Nice but not excelent - Edit
The place has a really nice atmosphere and service. Quiet and peaceful. I love the variety of drinks, from Kambucha, to water kefir and tons of fruit and vegie juices. However one of the plates we order for sharing was tasteless. I litterally had no flavor or very little.

I've gone just once, but really liked it. Dishes afe creative, with plenty of different flavors. They have raw options too, if you are into that. Really good.
Read moreI'm kinda gluttonous, so I found the dishes with less food that the amount I usually like to eat. But that's just me, other people can find the amount more than enough.
The only con is that the place is really small, so if you want to eat here for sure, better to make a reservation in advance.
Staff is friendly too, and overall it is a highly recommended place!
Pros: Very well-balanced dishes
Cons: Small place

A must in Madrid - Edit
A small vegan restaurant serving few but very creative dishes in a cozy atmosphere. All ingredients are organic, and the staff very kind. Probably the best in Madrid, I expect to repeat when I go back to the city.

Breakfast - Edit
I went to this place with My friend the first morning we were in Madrid. The menu consisted of mostly homemade bread with different toppings like chocolate spread, avocado, vegan cheese and Tomato, they were all under 4€. Tjej they Also had a breakfast sandwich that came with scrambled tofu, tempeh bacon and roasted potatoes, but it was a whooping 7.50€. Me and my friend chose the homemade soyyoghurt with granola and fresh fruit and it was delicious, 4€. Many different fruits and the plating was beautiful. We also ordered lattes with rice milk (you can choose between oat, rice, soy, almond and coconut milk) and two raw cakes (6.50€/each), the plain cheesecake and a carob cake. The food was delicious and very filling and I would definitely go back If Im Evert back in Madrid, bit i eosh it was a little cheeper.

Creative, Organic, Vegan with a Good Vibe and Friendly Service - Edit
This cozy, quaint vegan restaurant is located in the Barrio de las letras section of Madrid. It was quite packed when I arrived starving on the Friday before Christmas. Even though they were packed and very busy and I had no reservation, the staff was extremely friendly and spoke English really well. Eventually, after a wait, they were able to accommodate me at the bar. Everyone from the hostess to the servers were super friendly. The organic and Buddhist flair reminded me of California and I felt right at home.
Read moreThe food was delicious and creative. The starter consisted of a cabbage slaw with currants and was reminiscent of curry and salad. For the main dish, I chose a carrot and green bean dish with tempeh. It was savory and not sweet, but light, and accompanied by a green sauce similar to guacamole, but with a smokey/salty flavor. They offered a fermented drink, which was similar to kombucha, but less fizzy and a bit sweeter - the carrot ginger version was tasty. For my dessert, I chose the nut-free option, which was a chai muffin (moist and delicious even though I'm not a big chai fan), accompanied by espresso.
It was a lovely experience. The staff even suggested other restaurants to try on Christmas Day and in Palma de Mallorca. I highly recommend Rayen Vegano and will definitely go back when I return to Madrid.
Pros: friendly staff, creative, excellent organic food, staff spoke English

Very elaborated vegan dishes - Edit
This is probably the best vegan place in Madrid. Their cuisine is very original and healthy. But there are some downsides. First, it is impossible to get into without a reservation. The place is so small! Also the tables are very small and close one to another and the chairs are quite small, so eating there is not as confortable as it should be. Last but not least, the menu is quite pricey. But anyway, if you have a chance of visiting Rayen, go there, you won't be dissapointed.

After my second visit, I must change from the rating from 5 to 4 stars. Every dish out of three that I ordered was quite tasteless. The decoration was as always, supreme, very eyepleasing but there were no taste... The dinner did not gone wrong because of very good cakes (asked for three), but the main courses weren't so special...

I arrived hungry at 4pm, which is exactly when the kitchen closes until 9. The friendly waitress did, however, let me have a slice of carrot cake which was delicious. Hope to be back for a hot meal!

Elaborate cuisine, friendly staff - Edit
I had a menu (13 €50) with an entry (to choose among 2 possibilities), a main dish (2 possibilities), a drink (3 possibilities), homemade bread and dessert (3 possibilities) or coffee or tea. I chose as entry was a cream of Swiss chard, as main dish an elaborate preparation whose main component was zucchini, as drink water with cinnamon, as dessert a piece of chocolate cake. All these were tasty and fresh.

Delicious lunch menu - Edit
Delicious vegan food. Went there for lunch twice and everything I had was flavorful, fresh and well cooked. Recipes are innovative and the food tastes delicious primarily because they prepare it daily with no microwave and no processed additives or ingredients. Lunch is a very good deal and includes soup/salad, main dish, dessert/coffee and a drink. The vegan kefir (similar to kombucha) was pretty good.

Sublime food! - Edit
We visited Rayen Vegano twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Both times we made reservations, which I'd definitely recommend as people were getting turned away. It's deservedly popular: the food is really delicious!
Read moreFor breakfast, my partner had the Sunday special pancakes, which were a real treat. I had the tempeh sandwich, which was really spectacular. The homemade bread was unbelievably good! We also shared a piece of raw peanut butter cake, which was absolutely amazing, but cost €6.50, which is far too much for a dessert.
On a different day, we had the lunch set menu. There are two choices for each course, for €11.50 a person. We had a salad starter, which had an amazing mushroom dressing. We ordered one each of the mains and shared them. The quinoa timbale was really light and refreshing, but a little small. The seitan pastry with mashed potato and tomato sauce was very flavoursome. The dessert options were both muffins, which was a little unexciting, but they were still good.
This was one of the best places we visited in Madrid, both in terms of food and service. Really lovely!
Pros: Delicious food, Great service
Cons: Quite small, booking required
