Would give it 5 stars if I could!

They have a menu that changes regularly and it's so full of deliciousness. Fully separate vegan kitchen, so there are no mix-ups or unpleasant surprises. You can come here with your omni friends and family and everyone gets to enjoy their meal. The food tonight was absolutely delicious. The "burnt ends" appetizer was out of this world. The eggplant "catfish" was good and came with the *most* flavorful sides of grits, collard greens, and jalapeño cornbread, which was so good I'll be dreaming about it. The shepherds pie was filling and tasty and I really appreciated the use of mushrooms instead of vegan meats. Plus a great vibe and fabulous service in spite of it being a busy Saturday night. 10/10 would come again!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Great food, Nice vibe

Cons: None

Incredible restaurant

Love love love this restaurant’s commitment to welcoming the vegan community. One side of their menu is entirely vegan and they have a vegan kitchen separate from where animal products are being prepared. My entire group ate vegan with me for Veganuary so we tried many of their dishes! Highly recommend the bolognese, shepherds pie and chocolate cake!! But everything was delicious. If you make a reservation or request the back room seating, the vibes are amazing and the decorations are adorable.

Pros: Half of the menu is vegan, Separate Vegan kitchen, Dessertsss

Lots of options.

This place is on my list of to go spots for vegan brunch and dinner in the area. Definitely check it out. Lots of vegan food options.

It’s a bar so expect it to be bar packed sometimes. Lots of bar area seating incase you’re like me and want to check out a place on a whim within your crew

Vegan menu

This was our first visit for brunch and we really enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We were impressed that they have 2 kitchens so cross contamination was less of an issue. My griddler sandwich was great with just egg and beyond sausage. The cheezy grits and hash brown were also better than expected. They also serve some great mocktails. We can’t wait to go back.

Pros: Separate All vegan menu , Friendly staff, Inclusive environment

Love the new menu

The menu has changed a few times in recent years. The current one is my favorite and is pretty plant forward which I love. The fried maitake sandwich is super good (hot honey one is ok but for me a bit too sweet - the savory one hits the flavors perfectly). Carrot cake also great! It’s fun to come here with friends or for brunch.

Downhill

I used to love coming here and used to order carry out here all the time. Now it seems every time I go the service gets worse than ever before. Getting more careless and sloppy every time, they are extremely over priced and give barely any portions. Today I paid $17 for 6 pieces of what was supposed to be the vegan bang bang shrimp. I’m very sad to say after today I won’t be going there any more.

Cons: Overpriced , Amount of food given is very little

One of my Faves

Public house is one of my go to spots for vegan date night or treating myself to a night out!

Love that there’s a separate kitchen just for vegans and the staff is very receptive to feedback. I like that the menu evolves overtime based on feedback. I’m a loyal customer.

Pros: Whole separate vegan kitchen, Extensive vegan menu , Great drinks and knowledgeable staff

Two separate kitchens

Love the options for dinner and brunch. Expresso martini can be made vegan. And there are two separate kitchens which mean 0 cross contamination.

Used to be better

This used to be our go to spot when in the area, probably been here a dozen times. They had an extensive vegan/vegetarian menu and everything we tried was delicious.

Unfortunately, they had to ruin a good thing and change things up on their menu. Been there twice since and the taste and quality seems to have taken a dive. Both meals were cold, and really bland.

We likely won’t be back again😒
Gonna miss this place!

Pros: Decent options , Great cocktails! , Decent wait times

Cons: Quality has worsened , Expensive , Cramped environment

Loved it!

Great service, great food, great drinks, great atmosphere! We had several dishes from the brunch menu - the shrimp Benny, the chicken biscuit, the chicken & waffles, the bday French toast, the hash, the carrot cake, the peanut butter chocolate cake and a Bloody Mary.

We didn’t love the hash… it had taken on flavors of other fried foods and has a weird taste.

But other than that, everything was really, really good. I highly recommend getting something with the shrimp or chicken. It’s all made in house and is utter mock meat perfection.

Good, but maybe my expectations were too high?

This place gets rave reviews in my local vegan FB group so I was excited to finally try it. It wasn’t bad but overall I wasn’t too impressed, especially for the price. My sister and I split nachos, poutine and the rib sandwich. The nachos were cold by the time they arrived, but delicious nevertheless. The sandwich was pretty good but the poutine wasn’t good at all. The service was also sub par, which could have just been bad luck, but didn’t help my experience. I’ll be sticking to my favorites in the city. The ‘burbs are always disappointing

Amazing brunch! (Maybe less so now)

Update 2022/10: new menu got rid of our favorites and has fewer interesting options. Meal was good, but not amazing. Not sure how often the menu changes, but I'll be checking before I come next time. There are too many other good brunch places in the area, especially considering the expense of this one.

Original: (4 stars)
What a great vegan brunch menu! Lots of items, and both sweet and savory!

We shared the wet breakfast burrito and the Monte Cristo. I haven't had a Monte Cristo in years, and this one was fabulous!

I can't wait to go here again, but I feel like I would always order the Monte Cristo, despite lots of other options I want to try!

They seemed to take their vegan support seriously, they have a separate kitchen, and when we both ordered vegan, they put a Vegan VIP sign on our table. Not sure why, but we felt special! ;-)

Great place to bring omni friends

Awesome food. Separate vegan kitchen, and updated menu as of summer 22 with EXCELLENT options. Usually come here for brunch, always leave satisfied - I recall the dinner menu being somewhat less delicious. Two radically different seating spaces depending on your party or mood (back patio is way better though). Don't ever sit upstairs. Request a different seat, seriously, you will feel like a sardine in prison.

It's become my go-to for bringing parents or omnivorous friends who aren't stoked for a 100% vegan restaurant. It's incredibly gratifying when the food comes and they all have order envy for the veg options - not really a comment on their "regular" food, just high praise for the vegan menu. Interesting that it's not at all a mirror of the standard menu - they obviously have a separate chef creating the vegan side, who really gets to flex their creative muscles and put up some bangers.

Cocktails are tasty but pricey - I'd recommend getting one of the virgin mocktails and calling your liquor instead. They have an alright beer list, nothing to write home about but plenty to settle for.

Pros: Separate vegan kitchen, menu, Nice atmosphere, Parking garage nearby

Cons: Kind of expensive, Significant wait for Friday/Saturday dinner rush, Don't sit upstairs. Seriously, request another tab

2023 Update!! They have updated the menu and have added many dishes with much more flavor and variety. It’s become one of my favorite places in Ferndale. Great cocktails too!

Actually a pretty extensive (and creative) vegan menu.

Ate here for the first time and was surprised to find a whole vegan menu covering the flip side of the main menu. Tons of options. Hot “chikin” brought the heat. All in all: Fairly f-ing delicious!

Pros: Whole vegan menu, Vegan deserts

Would Give Five Stars If I Could

Four stars because this is an omnivore restaurant but they have excellent service and genuinely fantastic vegan food. Are the prices high? Yes. But when you factor in the high food quality and the large portions, the prices aren't so unreasonable.

Went for dinner. Had two cocktails, which were good. Got bang bang shrimp as an appetizer, which was really good. I had the vegan spicy chicken sandwich, which was both the best chicken sandwich I've had as a vegan and also the most enormous. Partner had the mushroom po boy, which was superb. We also got a side of fries, they were good fries, nothing extraordinary, good ol' potato and salt and oil. For dessert we tried the vegan caramel banana panna cotta and it was delicious, sweet and light.

Paid street parking can be found nearby. I don't live near Ferndale at all, which really blows because the food here is so good. Do recommend, will visit again.

Pros: Great vegan food, Vegan shrimp!, Cocktails

Cons: Omnivore restaurant, not all vegan

Separate vegan kitchen

I like that there is a separate vegan kitchen so no cross contamination occurs. We tried the vegan double burger, the burger patties are housemade using barley and some other ingredients and they are very filling! I liked that they make their own burgers and it's not just beyond or impossible. Also had the fries and chicken and waffles, everything was really good and the non-alcoholic Mocktails were very tasty! The fries were a bit overpriced for the portion it's just a few bites.. the atmosphere was nice for a night out dinner or to have some drinks at the bar.
