Custom birthday cake

We ordered a birthday cake from Protagonist Cafe. Even though the website doesn't say it, all of their cakes are vegan. We sent a message asking about ordering a vegan cake and got back the reply that all of their cakes are vegan. We ended up ordering an 8 inch cake for 4 people after much discussion amongst ourselves. We had much more cake than we needed lol which was fine because we sent a third of it home with the in-laws and still had a third left for ourselves.

This cake is a more dense type of cake, not super airy or fluffy. The cake was very moist and the chocolate frosting was delicious. My father in-law loved it and all the non vegans enjoyed it

The price was fair and it was easy to order through their website. Pickup was a breeze even though we ended up taking my in-laws sightseeing on the way and were a few hours late!

Pros: Delicious cake, Easy ordering and pickup, Customizable

Cons: Parking is a little tricky

Love this spot!

This place is so cute. Walls covered in books you can buy, nice drinks, and a ton of vegan baked goods (not all, but they are clearly labelled!). My partner and I had a blast drinking wine and playing games, and the scones are amazing. They also have various gifts for sale - mugs, candles, cards, etc. They even have a flavor of vegan ice cream!

New favorite for sure!

Pros: book cafe, lots of vegan options, lovely atmosphere

Simply sweet

Purchased the vegan cinnamon roll, vegan blueberry muffin and oat hot chocolate. Everything on target - taste, texture, and service.

Best Cafe au Lait I’ve ever had. And it was under $4.

Super cool environment. Great energy! Lots of books in their library, friendly helpful staff and, like I said, best Cafe au Lait ever.

Pros: 4 vegan “milk” options for coffee w/no up charge, Great staff , Cool atmosphere

Cons: None

Adorable and great menu

The baristas were knowledgeable on veganism, a majority of their baked goods were vegan, they had a vegan lemon poppy ice cream available, and the coffee menu was very extensive. The vibe of the coffee shop is adorable. If I ever drive through St. Louis again, I’ll definitely be back

The cutest little cafe with loads of vegan options

Wow! I stumbled upon a gem. The cutest little cafe with baked goods (quiche, scones, muffins, donuts) ALL VEGAN. Get this— they actually label the non vegan items! Haha the tables have turned. Def recommend this place. I will be back.

Pros: Vegan options , Cute and cozy , Super friendly staff

Cons: Tad bit expensive , still offer cows milk and a few non vegan items

Awesome cafe

This place has been open for just a week and is already a big hit with the vegans of St. Louis. Everything is good, food is delicious, everything is vegan unless labeled otherwise, there’s choose your own mug bottomless coffee, lots of interesting speciality drinks like s’mores and samosa Girl Scout cookie coffee, quiet jazz in background, tables with outlets nearby and couches, lots of books and games, and a gender neutral accessible restroom

Pros: Lots of options , Great food and drinks , Super nice decor

Cons: Like all cafes, not cheap
