Exceptionally good pasta - Edit
The food at this place is exceptional. The pasta was great, it had all the warming glowing satisfaction of a great pasta dish without trying too hard to be a replica of a meat dish. The umami stroganoff is diving. The tiramisu dessert is exquisite. I will definitely be returning to sample more of the dishes. Hats off to whoever designed these dishes.

Pasta not al dente, but amazing salad/desserts - Edit
I had a really nice dinner here with friends. We got the shittake mushroom salad with deep fried gnocchi, which is probably one of my favorite salads I've ever had. The mushrooms were so well done, they were like a jerky. And the bacon bits were such a nice addition. And the deep-fried gnocchi!! However, I do wish there was slightly less dressing, it was very very creamy.
Read moreThe pastas, on the other hand, were a a little more underwhelming. They were not al dente - which is disappointing for a pasta place trying to be authentic. We got a carbonara, which was nicely creamy but didn't have as much flavor beyond that. And then we got a tomato sauce-based pasta with vegan chicken. The vegan chicken was well cooked but the pasta sauce tasted like something I could have easily made, with less flavor.
However - the biscoff donut ball dessert! Worth the hype. They are covered in powdered sugar and warm and filled with biscoff. Yummy!
Staff was also so friendly and gave us lots of suggestions.
Pros: Salad, Dessert, Friendly staff
Cons: Soft pasta, Sauces could have more flavor

Worth The Hype - Edit
I did the £13.50 (plus service charge) lunch menu and had a creamy and delicious 'seafood' pasta with crispy kale, beautiful rosé wine and two *incredible* and freshly made biscoff donuts (which were hands down the best vegan donuts I've had) - blown away by the freshness and quality of the food at that price and I will definitely be back!

Delicious vegan pasta - Edit
I have working around the corner from this place for 2 years and only just discovered it and I was very impressed. A large menu of pasta, gnocchi and salads and they are all vegan! I tried the Green Velvet (pea & shallot ravioli served with salsa verde and green leaves) and it was delicious. My mum had the 'tuna' Caesar salad and it was packed with gorgeous ingredients and really tasty. Will definitely be going back to work my way through their menu!

This vegan restaurant is an absolute gem! The food is a delicious celebration of plant-based cuisine.

They made us feel welcomed although they were fully booked and couldn’t offer us a table (we were walk-ins), gave us the password to their wifi that’s usually not open to customers so we could look up directions, let us wait inside for our take away, gave us some free water while we waited and the pasta was lovely as well!

Cracking food - Edit
We had a starter and a main each and couldn't finish it, very generous portions. Between us we had the Caesar salad, fried gnocchi, Mac and cheese (comfort you), and the Formentera. It was all delicious. The staff were super friendly. Would thoroughly recommend (and this comes from someone that doesn't rate pasta)

So, we stumbled upon Pastan Barbican in the heart of Barbican, London, and what a find it was! The vibes were cool, the place had a mix of modern and cozy that we loved right away.
Read moreShoutout to the staff - super friendly and made us feel right at home. Now, let's get to the good stuff – the food!
My wife went for the Vegan Carbonara, and I gotta say, it was bomb! Creamy and packed with flavour
As for me, I dove into the Paccheri Pasta Stroganoff, and oh boy, I'm still dreaming about it. The mushrooms were like next-level deliciousness, and that creamy sauce? I could eat it by the spoonful. Easily the best mushroom dish I've ever had.
And guess what? We wrapped it up with a classic Tiramisu. It was the perfect sweet ending to an awesome meal.
If you're in the mood for some mind-blowing vegan grub, Pastan Barbican is where it's at. The vibes are chill, the staff is rad, and the food – well, it's amazing

Nice atmosphere and a lot of good options - Edit
This place has a nice relaxed atmosphere. I had the fried gnocchi and cacio e pepe, and there were a lot of other options that sounded good I'd like to try if I return. The gnocchi were great. The cacio e pepe was good although I'd maybe like it with more black pepper or more seasoning mixed throughout the sauce rather than just put on top. My partner liked the formentera pasta as well. Having been to the Barcelona location, I have to say we enjoyed the food slightly more at that location, but I'd still recommend this one and would happily return.

A little underwhelming - Edit
I had really high hopes for pastan so was a little underwhelmed. The starters were really good but the mains less so. I enjoyed the caprese and pan con tomate starters the most. The charcoal ‘seafood’ pasta I would go as far as saying was bad. The pumpkin and sage ravioli was also good. Overall a mixed bag. I would go back but I think if it was underwhelming a second time that would be it. Definitely still worth a visit though if you’re vegan for the options alone.

Pastan - Edit
Lovely, cozy restaurant about 5 minutes walk from Farringdon tube station. Good menu with plenty of options. Staff were friendly and checked back regularly. I chose the Dolce Vita (carbonara). Arrived quickly and was a decent sized portion. They also provided cashew Parmesan for topping. I was full after eating so no room for pudding sadly, but next time I’ll be trying the Tiramisu!
