Great Takoyaki! - Edit
We are vegan and allergic to gluten. Until now, there were no vegan takoyaki around Namba and Shinsaibashi stations. We had given up on trying the local cuisine, but we have found the one and only takoyaki.
Read moreIt was wonderful. We ordered the takoyaki plate and the 1500 yen kushikatsu, both of which are vegan and gluten-free. The takoyaki is made with soybeans instead of wheat flour, so it is very healthy and hearty. Drinks are only 200 yen and you can make your own. My friend was pleased with the wide variety of scotch and bourbon. Gluten free beer is also available for 200 yen. Highly recommended.
Pros: affordable, All Vegan Menu Also suitable for gluten-free, Cool Place

The best vegan food in Osaka - Edit
By far my favourite vegan food in Osaka - Must visit.
Read moreDining area is very small, often a long queue to get in, recommend getting here just prior to opening otherwise you may be waiting a while.
Store is ran by 1 person so please be patient, they accept cash & card.
Pros: Delicious food, Entirely vegan, Good location
Cons: Long queues, Small dining area

Excellent - Edit
Looking for a vegan Takoyaki, this was on our bucket list for Osaka. Unlike Oko, we got inside pretty quick (approx. 15 mins since we arrived). Similarly to Oko though, the place offers good quality music and a great atmosphere, and is also being run by one person (which was lovely). The food was very good, rich in flavor, however the tempura veggies lacked salt. Overall, it's a great place to grab a quick bite, just arrive before 8 pm since it's the rush hour for the place.

Great food, cozy place, possible queues - Edit
It was great to try two local specialities, Kushikatsu (fried diverse vegetables on skewers) and Takoyaki, in a vegan form. The place is very cozy. But it is also small, we came on Sunday at 7pm and waited about 1h to get in. I absolutely recommend eating here, but if you are short on time, perhaps try their sister restaurant Ovo Fun Okonomiyaki, which is reportedly just 3 min away and much bigger.

Mega leckere Takoyaki in Osaka - Edit
Die veganen Takoyaki waren richtig lecker, die Atmosphäre war super. Das warten vorher hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt. Und Respekt, dass die Inhaberin alles alleine macht!

Fun & funky - Edit
Small restaurant with colour everywhere! A fun experience. Arrived soon after opening and didn't have to wait long. Got to add our own little message to the wall. Had the Takoyaki and cold tofu. Came with cabbage/veg and miso. Delish!

Popular vegan and gluten free takoyaki - Edit
We were lucky to be there shortly after their opening time, so we got a place to sit. There was already a long queue once we left. The takoyaki are served with red cabbage and soup. I found the soup even tastier than the takoyaki themselves, but enjoyed the possibility to try them as a non-octopus-eater.

So nice we came twice! - Edit
Delicious food, nice portion size, this place has it all. My partner has a nut allergy and the chef is very friendly and knows the menu well. The menu contained no peanuts or tree nuts at the time of posting but obviously check this yourself!

Fantastico - Edit

Must try takoyaki! - Edit
I was thrilled to find a place that offered a vegan takoyaki, and in such a central location in Osaka. The takoyaki balls were flavoursome and it came with a side of soup.
Read moreI also tried the Kushikatsu (5 veg skewers), but found them very oily and tasteless.

I was happy I got to try takoyaki but I didn't really like it. The flavor was good, but is very mushy on the inside. The owner is really nice and the space is pretty cool.

Definitely recommend - Edit
This was our first time having takoyaki so we didn't know what to expect, the texture was mushier than we thought it would be but it was really yummy. I think one serving is enough for two because it is quite heavy and filling, the cabbage salad added a nice freshness and crunch, it all had a lot of flavour. The lady working there was really friendly, We would go back again

Best Takoyaki ever!! - Edit
We had dinner at Oko Takoyaki. The restaurant is tiny but very charming. The takoyaki was the best we’ve had on our trip! The chef was really nice and we had a great time. An absolute must try when visiting Osaka!

Just ok - Edit
I was expecting more from this very well rated restaurant. I could not distinguish flavors in my takoyaki, as it was soaked in sauce. The place was rather dirty, the floor was sticky. The host was extremely kind and prices extremely cheap, but I would not recommend it.

This is not even close - Edit
I lived in Japan for years before I stopped consuming animal products, and I have eaten a lot of the regional cuisine(s) as a result. This place is so not even close to replicating it.
Read moreA proper takoyaki should be spherical and hold together until you bite into it - with the bite itself being like chewing through soft fried dough and finding a pleasantly chewy center. Sauces should add flavor. None of this happened here, with each order (soy sauce order and sesame sauce order) being bland as hell with soggy drenched lumps of dough.
I’m giving it two stars only due to it giving a passing option for gluten free needs, and even then you are legitimately better served going elsewhere. The staff were also nice. But come on, we all know vegan food can be good - this requires demanding better from the places selling poor representations.
Pros: Staff were nice
Cons: Poor imitation
