Hit or Miss

I've been here several times, and I've had such varying experiences. I've had servers that were so on the ball and attentive and aware with vegan issues and others that simply didn't know, and others that clearly were just trying to placate me (the last one resulted in a fried tofu covered in fish flakes :/ ). When the food is good it is awesome. It's just frustrating having to send orders back when the service isn't great, and I hate being "that person" (but I also hate to be hungry and staring at food I can't eat sooo!)

Pros: Tasty food

Cons: Service quality varies

Separate vegetarian menus

On entering, the bar/waiting area looks disheveled, but the upstairs dining area is very neat and bright. The vegetarian menu is extensive.

We had the enoki mushroom appetizer, the vegetarian sukiyaki and the tofu steak dinner. We were happy with all the choices, and were pleased that there were so many choices to make. It was very nice of the owner to come out to make sure we understood the vegan options.

The only drawback was that our server was a bit too solicitous and did not give us enough breathing space.

Pros: vegetarian menu, vegan choices

Huge Vegan/Vegetarian Menu!!

Make sure you ask for the vegetarian menu when you go in, otherwise they'll just bring you the regular. It was amazing! 3-4 pages of veg wonders. There are even asterisks denoting small amounts of egg and dairy in the dishes. The staff was friendly, understanding, and accomodating. It's pretty far from the French Quarter, but if you take the St. Charles streetcar to Uptown, get off at Oak St, and walk about 3 blocks west - you're there! We will def go back if in town again.
