Vegetarian restaurant attached to the buddhist temple, inside the same gates. No English signage or menu but has a photo menu. Serves a wide range of vegan food from simple mushroom dishes to mock meats to elaborate banquet style dishes. Buffet at every new and full moon. Short walk northwest of city center, at Xinyi Rd, across the red bridge. Open Mon-Sun 11:00am-1:30pm, 6:00pm-9:00pm.

only veggie place in guilin! - Edit
I agree with what the previous user has written in that it was difficult to find vegetarian/ vegan food in Guilin and that we were very happy when we found this place.
Read moreWe found this place quite difficult to find as we had a bad map. If you take the bus 22 from the railway station, go 4 stops. In front of you, you will see a junction. Cross the road and turn left. The temple is quite big so should be easy to spot if you are on the correct corner of the junction. Walk into the compound where the monastery is and past the entrance for the temple and the restaurant will be facing you.
I don't know the exact opening hours as it was difficult to communicate here. We arrived at 3pm and were sad as the place was closed, but it reopened at 5pm so we came back for dinner.
There is no english spoken and no english menu, but i had a little sign explaining that I am vegan and the waitressed helped us to order.
We got a very large bowl of soup noodles which was huge and simple and tasty and a bargain for 5 yuan. We also asked for mushrooms and got a plate of mixed wild mushrooms and vegetables for 25 yuan. That was delicious and perfect with the soup noodles.

We had a tough time finding veggie food in Guilin. We went to more than one place we were told was vegetarian or had vegetarian food only to find that they weren't at all and even served all sorts of exotic animals. Pure Lotus, also mentioned on this website as in Giulin, is actually in Yangshuo, which is about an hour away. So when we found this temple restaurant, we were very relieved! It's pretty easy to find as it's right next to a big temple. The staff was very friendly although they were definitely surprised to see us. We ate there three or four times and never saw another foreigner. It seems to be popular with Chinese tour groups.
Read moreOur Mandarin is not very good and we can't read much, so they gave us a sort of photo album to use as a menu and we used our spoken Mandarin skills to ask for suggestions and some stir fried greens (chao qing cai). Everything we had was delicious. The best was a fried noodle dish. It was perfectly seasoned and HUGE, which meant I could bring leftovers back to the hostel for breakfast/lunch the next day. Unfortunately, I don't know the names of anything else we ate, but just point at what looks good and you won't be disappointed.
Our meals were all reasonably priced and beer and soft drinks are available. Definitely come here if you're in Guilin, as you won't have much luck anywhere else!
