Yum!

The food is excellent. Best greens and beans ever. The Hood Rolls are unique and cravable. The ‘fried chicUn’ has the best crispy crunch. The vegan ribs are great too.

Decent

The food was different. I had the XL plate which had a little of everything.

I liked the baked beans, Mac, cornbread, and ribs.

The fried mushrooms was too greasy for me, and the greens were iight, I needed hot sauce

Pros: Baked beans, Ribs, Mac

Cons: Fried mushrooms, Small menu

Good Soul Food 🍗🥬🥧

I've had the nana's soul (fried chikn, mac and cheese, baked beans, cornbread, collard greens), philly cheesesteak fries, and peach cobbler. I didn't like the collard greens, but it was my first time, so I think I just don't like collard greens. Other than that, it was pretty good!
It was pricey! The service was weird tbh, kind of unfriendly?? They didn't want to talk to me when I was trying to ask something about a food item. It was very odd. Maybe they were just having a bad day.

Pros: Lots of options, Yummy food

Cons: Expensive, Service was weird

Amazing, albeit fatty food

It is well worth the wait. The hamburger was so tasty. It would fool meat eaters!

Best Vegan Soul Food in AZ

Great vegan soul food in AZ! The mac n cheese and “bussin’ baked beans” in particular are my personal faves. I get the Nana’s Soul XL so I can get the most stuff. The fried cauliflower, mushrooms, and ribs are also fantastic. Corn bread also delish. Collard greens are very salty, but maybe that’s typical for that dish (I haven’t had collard greens very often). This place is definitely a treat for me to have just every once in a while because it’s a bit on the pricier side. I recommend people try it out if they’re in town!

Pros: Vegan soul food, Large platters (Nana’s Soul XL)

Cons: A bit pricey, Maybe a bit too salty at times

Pretty good. Def heavier food

Def more “junk food” vegan but it was pretty tasty! If you are into soul food/ comfort food vegan give this place a try!

I wish it was a little cleaner inside as I waited for food to go. Seems most people get take out here.
It is quite a popular spot it appears.

Nope

Oily under cooked frozen fries, Mac and cheese was sour, the lemon slushy tasted bitter like dish soap. I would not call this southern food at all being from the south where soul food was a restaurant that had the most amazing food. This is more like junk food for the fancy foodies.
Have tried this place several times and they never have the food I order. I gave up.

Pros: The door out, The door out, The door out

Cons: Oily food., Served frozen food., Never has anything on the menu always out of food.

Good but oily

Love vegan soul food and it’s not meant to be healthy, but the oil to food ratio is bordering on oil winning that competition. Less oil and you’d be able to taste the food better and not have to worry about a heart attack right after

Sauces on everything are amazing. Things don’t need to swim in grease

Updated from previous review on 2025-05-19

Pros: Options, Sauces, Southern comfort food

Cons: Oil (duh), Out of stock on items

Review from long time Vegans

Offer some other veggies on the menu. I know it is comfort food/southern food but maybe more items not fried

Pros: All Vegan menu, Not busy, Lots of parking

Cons: Very greasy, even for fried food, Everything had a similar off taste, Out of at least 2 menu items

Bland, overpriced disappointment

Honestly was shocked at how lackluster and overpriced this place was compared to the reviews it gets. Very disappointing. Ordered the "chicken" and waffles and it was just a pile of unseasoned fried mushrooms on a waffle with plain maple syrup. No service for overpriced food that was honestly quite bland and subpar. Definitely missing the "soul". Interior needs a ton of work, very dingy and a little grimy. The floor also has strange bolts stuck through it, which I nearly tripped over. Seems unsafe. While I love to support vegan establishments, they don't represent vegan food well. Give this place a pass.

Pros: It's vegan

Cons: Overpriced, Unwelcoming, Bland

Great Southern Food

There is nothing I like better than finding a restaurant where EVERYTHING on the menu is vegan. This place has options that I haven't seen before, which was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the Nashville catfish. It was crispy, spicy and sweet. Everything I saw coming out of that kitchen looked fantastic. I will go back...I know I should try other things on the menu, but it will be hard not to order the "catfish" (mushrooms) again. It's big flavors in a little strip mall.

Pros: Food looked and tasted great., Environment is clean and friendly., Wide variety of choices.

Cons: A little pricey.

The Soul I was missing

Stopped in for dinner and ended up getting a bunch of extra for the family. Didn’t take too long for my order, but it was placed ahead of time for pick up. Loved everything and so did the family.

Pros: Tons of options, All that flavor

Long wait, expensive, incorrect, sub-par

I want so badly to love this place but every time I’ve gone I waited 30-40 mins for my food. I went this weekend and only ordered 2 milkshakes and fried pickles. It cost $25 and took 40 mins even though there was only one person before me. The milk shakes were very thin (melted?) and weren’t the flavors I ordered (but I wasn’t going to wait another 40 mins for them to remake them), the pickles were all clumped together and tasted burned and they don’t come with a dipping sauce. The cookie topping on the outside of the to go cups tasted like cleaning supplies — I’m not sure putting things on the outside of plastic cups is a good idea, anyway. I felt like I wasted my time and money. I tried reaching out on insta about my experience but didn’t get a response.

Cons: Overpriced, Long wait, Sub-par food

Very tasty!

I got the Nana’s Soul so I could try the maximum amount of stuff. I ordered the mushroom/fried chicken and my friend ordered the jackfruit ribs. Both were delicious.
No condiments on the table, ask for packets of hot sauce from behind the counter.
My non-vegan friend is planning another visit. 🤞🏼

Amazing vegan soul food

This place is delicious! I ordered the Nana’s Soul XL so I could try everything. The mac & cheese is creamy, the collard greens are tasty, the baked beans are full of flavor, and the fried chick’n (mushrooms) feels like a fried guilty pleasure. My least favorite were the wangz aka cauliflower. Not terrible by any means, but not as delicious as the rest of the items. My FAVORITE is the rib. It pulls apart like meat and has a wonderful smoky flavor. Who needs to eat animals when soul food can taste this great without them!!

Pretty good

Overall experience was good. Place was clean, not too busy with some chill music playing. Menu and photos looked great. They make their chik’n patties in house and same with their “ribs” made from jackfruit. Some of the other items use impossible patties but I had to ask to figure that out. Wish they would just be up front about it.

The food itself was decent. Someone wrote about the baked beans in another review and I can confirm they indeed slap. I got the soul plate with “prime rib” and that was really well done but the sides were just okay besides the beans. It’s a bit pricey for the portion size. The Chik’n sandwich was good too, and I’d probably get that again.

Delicious!

Small restaurant with counter service and great food! We were greeted by Nana, she was so sweet, friendly and very kind to our children. I especially loved the ribs and cookies and cream shake. My kids would not stop talking about how much they loved the Mac and cheese and can’t wait to go back!

Pros: Shakes

Cons: Expensive

Vegan southern food

The place is a little hidden, it’s at the corner of the plaza in case you can’t find it.
I ordered the Nana’s Soul, which came with mac n cheez, collard greens, cornbread, baked beans, and fried vegan chicken. Everything was great…. Except for the vegan chicken. I know some of the other vegans might judge me for this but I’m a big fan of fake meat, especially chicken, but this just wasn’t it. Turns out the “chicken” is just deep fried mushrooms. I typically like mushrooms, but the flavor and texture was just off-putting, and definitely not reminiscent of anything chicken.
I would be willing to give it another shot, even if it is just to satisfy my occasional collard greens cravings, but I did leave a bit disappointed this time around. #Veganuary

Omg!!! This food is so amazing. I couldn’t stop smiling while I was eating it. Everything on the menu looked fantastic, so the hardest part about eating here is narrowing it down. But, more reason to visit again and again😄I can’t wait for my next visit here. Highly recommend eating here!! It’s worth every penny and more

From the East Coast

This was my first stop on my trip Phoenix because I had found them on Instagram. They did not disappoint. My partner got the Chicken Parm sub which he did not love because he hates mushrooms, but he ate most of it which says a lot because typically he would’ve just slid it my way and ordered something different. I also don’t love mushrooms because I overdid it when I first went vegan and I still enjoyed the sub. I got the seafood boil which he then ate most of as well 😂 and still mentions a weeks later. It is a tiny spot, but when I was there the locals were very nice and welcoming- probably the nicest people we came across in Arizona. They were raving about the cheesecake which I wish I tried.

Not my cup of tea but I’m excited for everyone else

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while because it’s got such good reviews.

To start the woman at the register was lovely and super nice. I’m excited this place exists because I think this food could appeals to a lot of people both vegan and non but I’m just not a fan of BBQ or sweet food in general so this restaurant probably isn’t for me. However I’m excited for those who do love bbq like my husband who enjoyed the meal. He loved the ribs and I liked my Mac and cheese. I could understand why the reviews are so good but just not my pallet I guess.

I’m rooting for this restaurant to keep doing well though!

Pros: Authentic southern food, Vegan ribs, Super nice staff

Cons: Decor seems more homemade, Uses all plastic cutlery
