Good restaurant, better desserts! - Edit
This is a good lunch and dinner restaurant with classic Japanese cuisine. They have a great omurice and curry. The menu is a bit limited but what they have is full of flavour. The desserts are amazing with loads of strawberry’s and tiramisu.

Nice - Edit
I had the ramen which was ok, the flavour was quite plain. The strawberry milkshake was delicious and my husband had the platter which he said was amazing. We had a table booked for 6pm and the kitchen closed at 7pm - our food didn’t come until 6:40pm and it felt a little rushed.
Read moreEDIT: we came back again for a cake stop - the cheesecake is hands down the best dessert they have! we tried the tiramisu parfait, seasonal cheesecake (lemon) and strawberry tart.

Stumbled in here on our way to the bamboo forest in Kyoto. Matcha lemon soda and frozen matcha sandwich was good! I’ll be back to try more

Another excellent meal - Edit
Went again and it was as amazing as before. Love the tofu strip with miso sauce on top, and the karage. Great for kids too, as you can pick sides for little eaters.

We had the Okara-age Gozen set. It was fresh, healthy and tasty. Not hugely flavourful but a nice meal. Nice ambience, helpful staff and easy to find.

I came here again after last time in 2023. Got the pack to remember how everything tasted. I only recommend the cutlets, the karaage and hamburger aren't that tasty.

Kyoto Cafe - Edit
A charming little café / restaurant right in the heart of Kyoto. They offer some nice vegan options, which I appreciated. The food was decent but nothing extraordinary, yet the cozy atmosphere and friendly vibe made my time there really enjoyable. Perfect for a relaxed break while exploring the city!

Good food and nice dishes. The taste of many things was a bit more bland though but I loved the vegan omurice, the shakes and the desserts.

Delicious Vegan set meals - Edit
The vegan set meal was so yummy. The fried katsu and karaage types of soy meat were some of the best I have ever had. We also got the tiramisu sundae which was yummy.

Just Okay - Edit
I had high hopes for this place based on happy cow, but I was very underwhelmed. The food tastes very healthy, so that is a plus I suppose. However, many of the dishes were bland and lacked flavor, and prices are quite high. If you take your non vegan friends here, they may never eat at another vegan restaurant with you. I love supporting vegan businesses, and some people seem to genuinely like this place, but for me, but I’ve had better vegan food at several Kyoto restaurants, including some non vegan ones. The dinner we got was mainly cold items like a potato dish, radishes, salad, etc. the tofu was like a meatloaf type thing, the best thing I ate by far. The ice cream tasted like soy and wasn’t very sweet. Overall not mad, just disappointed.

We ordered the special set and the omurice, and both were delicious! The omurice was particularly delicious, and is rare to find a vegan version in Japan! I would recommend ordering that one for sure.

Great food, nice ambiance, friendly staff - Edit
I enjoyed the coffee and food, both were top notch. Food was a bit more expensive than what I usually go for. I had a Japanese vegan platter with a soup, a rice dish and a few sides and also had a soy latte to kick things off. All were perfect. The food was an experience. I did leave the place still feeling that I was at least 400 Kcal short of meeting my caloric needs. I am not a large eater and am normally more than satisfied with a one course meal.
