Meat - Edit
I patronize restaurants that serve meat, but seeing Moonburger regress from a vegetarian restaurant (albeit littered with vegan upcharges) to one that serves meat, chills me to the core. Their website contains a very greenwashed explanation of their recent change.

An hour trapped in a drive thru only to get BEEF burgers erroneously. - Edit
We waited in a drive-thru for an hour and got the wrong order completely. We used to emphatically recommend this place and now will never return.
Read morePeople that arrived after us saw how long the line was, used the online order option, and received their food before we even got to place our order. That is an asinine method to fill orders.
After being trapped in the line for an hour, and despite clearly ordering two vegetarian combos and having confirmed it at the window, we received TWO BEEF BURGERS. After waiting another 5-10 mins we finally got hastily cooked burgers that tasted like pepper and char, clearly undercooked. Luckily we don’t have beef allergies, but how careless and dangerous. This kitchen is going to kill someone if it hasn’t already.
The fries were cold and soggy. Everything about the meal was regrettable.
Greed and an effort by the owner to expand has rendered the Kingston location completely wasted. The workers looked unhappy and exhausted, the customers were all having a terrible time. The car before us and after us both had mistakes in their order as well.
When you decide to carry beef burgers in a previously vegetarian restaurant, you HALVE your griddle space in an already tight kitchen. When you allow online orders, you increase order volume by a large factor. Doing both simultaneously is so incredibly unwise and the reviews seem to be confirming it.
Avoid if you value your time. Used to be amazing, and declined into something unsalvageable in a matter of months. So disappointing and quite frankly soul crushing. We used to look forward to this fast food since it was the only vegetarian fast food available. Now we will avoid it and actively recommend against it.
Shame on the owner for stretching their workers thin, and shame on them for abandoning the customer community that made them big locally in the first place. Typical capitalist greed.

☹️ - Edit
Used to love Moonburger until they betrayed their core customer base by adding beef to the previously totally vegetarian menu. Now, I can no longer support them. It was heartbreaking to see such a disgusting regression of ethics and values. They built their entire brand on being better for people and planet, then did a complete 180 when they saw a chance to increase profits.
Read moreThey have defended their actions with unconvincing, greenwashed excuses. You know what’s more sustainable than “local, sustainable beef”? NO BEEF.

Used To Be Vegetarian, Serves Meat Now - Edit
These are some of my favorite vegan burgers in the world, and their fries are also amazing, as are their vegan shakes. However, they just started serving meat. This is hugely disappointing. Their original mission was to prove to customers that non-meat burgers can taste so good. that you won't miss the meat. Clearly, this is a cash grab, and yes, they will get more customers, but they will eventually lose a lot of the vegan and vegetarian customers who supported them early on. I certainly hope they reconsider. At least they apparently cook their veggie burgers and a different grill.

Serves meat now - Edit
we loved the burgers from here last time we were in the area but were disappointed to see they are also serving meat. you can still order fully vegan burgers with vegan cheese, and vegan milkshakes. seemed like an easy switch to drop the dairy cheese and be fully vegan, but they decided to sell out and offer meat. disappointing!

No longer Veg!! - Edit
EDIT: As of October 2024, this chain has decided to increase profits by selling cow flesh. Boycott these greedy people who have no core values.
Read moreA unique drive thru place. The vegan cheeseburger and fries is a classic comfort combo and the flavor is great. They use the term "dairy free" instead of vegan just fyi but this option is vegan. I only wish they'd get rid of the dairy offering and go fully vegan. Or at least upcharge for the dairy cheese instead of the vegan cheese.

Pros: Tasty vegan cheeseburger , Quick and convenient drive thru, Price is reasonable
Cons: Upcharge on vegan cheese (should be the opposite!), Limited menu, Not all vegan

Fun little drive thru! - Edit
This is a cute little spot for classic burgers, fries, and shakes!! I actually liked that they had limited options and they keep it simple. I ordered a cheeseburger (made egg/dairy-free), fries, and a strawberry cheesecake shake. I loved everything!

Stop serving Dairy cheese - Edit
Mostly love Moonburger, but the dairy cheese is a strange touch when everything else is plant-based including the milkshakes. I don’t get the logic behind this. Even though I ordered a classic, they gave me a cheeseburger instead and I couldn’t eat it because of the dairy cheese. Either make a completely vegan cheeseburger to mirror the American cheese one, or don’t sell cheeseburgers at all 🤷♀️

I agree that they should be all vegan but in regards to your last sentence, they do offer a completely vegan cheeseburger, you just need to say “dairy free” when ordering the cheese burger.

A classic fast food indulgence - Edit
If you're only going to serve one classic American meal, burgers, fries, & shake, it really outta be out of this world. And moonburger completely hits the mark! Vegan cheeseburgers are insanely delicious! Hot fries are the bomb! Next time I'll be trying a shake :)

Tasty fast food all plant based. - Edit
I understand that vegan and plant based is the big thing now. your easily replicatable and sourced menu will probably give you lots of profitable franchises. But PLEASE develop your own burgers, buns and fries. Please make them healthy, organic and sustainably sourced and not corporate impossible crap burgers with supermarket buns. Yes your food tastes as good as McDonald's but don't you know it could be BETTER and HEALTHIER for those eating and your bottom line too. You could be 10 stars....

Burger place with only vegetarian or vegan options - Edit
What they offer deserves 5 stars. I gave 4 because I’d love to see a bigger variety. Menu shows clearly what’s vegan or vegetarian. Burger was great, fries as well, and the strawberry shake felt like a very special treat for vegans at a burger place.

Secretly vegetarian drive-thru! - Edit
I drove by this place for years without knowing it was almost entirely vegan. Maybe they should change that, but either way, I eventually found out through local word of mouth and was so excited to try them out. Now I stop every time I’m heading back up to Albany from wherever south. With the exception of real cow cheese that they insist on offering for some reason, this place is otherwise vegan. As long as you request your burger “dairy-free” and don’t get the cheese sauce, you’re all good. All burger patties are Impossible. Gluten-free buns are also available. The burgers here, the spicy fries, the milkshakes, are all exactly what you remember from the fast food days of non-vegan childhood, I promise.

It's fun, it's nostalgic, it's literally on the side of a road - Edit
After visiting the Catskill Animal Sanctuary (highly recommended), we stumbled upon Moonburger. This is the IDEAL place to bring your omnivorous friends because they will absolutely not realize it's vegan (or vegetarian if you get regular cheese). The burgers are like basic, tasty, fast-food burgers, just like at In-N-Out. The impossible meat really shines as a smash burger. The real star though are the vegan milkshakes. We tried both the brownie batter and the strawberry and the group was split on what they liked better. I typically like chocolate better than strawberry things, but this one hit different. The strawberries tasted like real strawberries (not like that fake strawberry flavoring, bleh) and the oatmilk base was creamy and soft. I'd go back just for that.
Read moreMy only compliant is that it's not 100% vegan. The default cheese is still regular cows-milk cheese so you have to specify that you want the "dairy-free cheese" when you order. The cheese fries are also made with cows-milk, which is unfortunate considering the milkshakes are all vegan by default, so it gets a bit confusing. I would LOVE if they would make a dairy-free cheese fry sauce and just committed to being a completely plant-based burger place.
Still, generally, a fun place to go with friends of all dietary preferences (GF too) or just by yourself to hork down some tasty (vegan) fast food without the side of guilt and sadness.
Pros: That IS a (vegan) tasty burger, The vegan milkshakes are STUNNING, The vibe is cool and the concept is good
Cons: Menu is a bit confusing (order DF for dairy free), The default cheeseburger is not vegan, Drive tru only, no seating even outside

Tasty but inconsistent - Edit
The burgs I've had from Moonburger have been tasty every time, so I really can't knock em too bad. My complaint is that I've been given non-vegan cheese by mistake multiple times in the past as well as just the entire wrong order. It seems that staff are stretched pretty thin there in such a small space, I think that should be addressed.
Read moreAlso I think it should just be all vegan in general to streamline orders and reduce confusion. It's a plant-based restaurant so why not just be vegan overall?
More milkshake flavors would also be good. Brownie is too salty but the strawberry one was incredible.
Overall, a great little burger joint that could be the best with a couple small tweaks.
Pros: Good burgs, Strawb shake dank, Quick and friendly service
Cons: Inconsistency, Some stuff has dairy. Why?, Brownie shake is salty af

Delicious! - Edit
I love their burgers and can't wait to see what they do with their menu. The only downside is the price - I spent nearly 40 dollars for two double cheese burgers, a fry, a shake, and a cheese sauce. Very good but unfortunately not a place I can go to more than a few times a year. I'm glad it's close to the freeway and I hope they get a bunch more business!

It is extremely novel to have a very stylish vegetarian fast food joint, but every time I've gone they have messed up for the order, and it leaves me dehydrated for a day after.
Read moreThe first time he went, the wait in line was close to 45 minutes. We went again more recently and the wait was not as bad.
After the first time, I wrote an email to their customer service with constructive criticism regarding the errors in our order. I never heard a peep back. A few months later, we went back again to see if it had improved, and found that it's still very very salty and that things were mixed up in the orders.

Such a great option! - Edit
My grandparents have lived in the area for over 20 years and it’s so nice to see the vegan options increasing. So I was excited to try this place and was not disappointed. The brownie shake was sweet and delicious, the burger really good. A little salty for me but also I’ve heard that’s how burgers are? I’ve never had a meat one so it could be that they’ve replicated that really well. I got my grandmother a cheeseburger and fries and she could not stop raving about it—she’s been reluctant to try Impossible/Beyond burgers in the past. Honestly if she loved it, I can’t imagine others wouldn’t!

Ooooooh my god where do I begin?! Milkshakes, get one, make it fancy, trust me. The burgers are magical - I rarely am able to eat Impossible burgers without getting sick but however they cook it, my body is totally okay with. A lot of stuff gives me bellyaches so this is such a win for me! Incredible junk food that is vegan and doesn't make me sick even when I have a double patty with hot fries and a shake?! MIRACLE.
