Cute, Cozy Vegan Eatery in Central Reykjavik - Edit
So our ship was in port for the day, and luckily we found Mama very near our shuttle drop-off. We stopped in for lunch shortly after it opened and ordered the Dhal a la Lama, Chilli Sin Carne, Garlic Naan, and two Bliss Balls.
Read moreThe stews were definitely large and hearty portions, and were good on this dreary, rainy day. I was expecting a little more Naan than what came, but we made do. The Dhal a la Lama had rich, complex flavor, and the Chilli Sin Carne was also enjoyed by my husband. He did mention it had a slight vinegary bite to it, and when I tasted it, it reminded me of some vinegar-based barbecue sauces. I'm not a fan of the vinegar base, so I'm glad I ordered what I did.
We finished with two Bliss Balls, one Tahini & Cacao Bliss, which was good, and one Peanut Butter Bliss, which reminded me of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, unsurprisingly. Both were good, but probably would not order again because of the price.
Staff was friendly and service was good. We found prices to be a bit high for North American standards, but not sure how they compare locally. I would definitely visit again if in Reykjavik, as the food was very good.
On a final note, there appeared to be a restaurant mascot, who was as cute as can be!
Pros: Great food, Friendly staff
Cons: Can be pricey?

Delicious - Edit
We got the dhal a la mama, mama curry, and garlic naan. They were all amazing, especially the naan (we got some to go). It’s conveniently located close to a lot of tourist areas as well.

Tasty and filling - Edit
The restaurant is located in a cozy little attic. I ordered the soup of the day, the chili wrap, and the cup of calm. (Tea) Everything was delicious and filling. I especially enjoyed how many fresh veggies were included in the wrap.

A good option in Reykjavik - Edit
Given the small size of the menu I was disappointed that two items were not available (including one of the 4 mains) however the curry I did have was excellent. Nice chill vibe and easy to get to.

Filing and delicious - Edit
I saw some reviews on here about bland food and that made me nervous. I did not have that experience at all.
Read moreThe restaurant is tucked back in a courtyard and then you have to walk up some stairs to find this place.
The smell when I opened the door to the restaurant made my mouth water. It was this full bold curry smell and it made me really hungry.
I had booked a reservation, but on this day it wasn't needed because there was plenty of seating available for small or large groups.
I was seated right away and given a menu. The service was great. The waitress brought me a cup and pitcher of water along with the menu.
Everything is plant based and there were lots of tasty options. I chose to go with the West Africa stew because it didn't have cilantro/coriander listed as an ingredient. I can't eat cilantro so I try to avoid dishes that have it.
I also tried to order the garlic naan but they were out. So I opted for the lentil chips and a cup of calming tea.
Everything came out at once and very quickly. I ate a little bit of everything and enjoyed every bite. There was a piece of cilantro as garnish, but I took that off.
The flavors were really good and I was so full after eating all of that food. I found it to be very filling and it made me feel good to put that delicious food in my body.
The tea was great and very strongly flavored with lavender.
I highly recommend coming here and trying their delicious food surrounded by a peaceful atmosphere.
Pros: Fully vegan, Lots of tables, Great flavors and smells

Some really nice food and a good range of dishes. Seemed to struggle with just one server for the entire cafe, food took a little while.

While the staff and ambience was nice, the vegan broth soup wasn’t great. Quite tasteless and it cost £17!!

The best food of our honeymoon - Edit
We have been to many restaurants now while in Reykjavik and around the south coast. Mama was the best in both my husband and my opinion. For tasty whole food dishes, with happy calm vibes, it can't be missed.
Read moreFor all the stews they can make a wrap for you out of the stew, rice and salad. They were also very kind about removing coriander for us as Jordan has the soap gene 💔
For the main, I had the Dahl a la Mama, and he had the Chilli wrap. It was so delicious, and the depth of flavour was incredible. He was very happy seeing the size of the wrap and enjoyed it very much.
Afterwards, I had the love potion tea (as it is our honeymoon!!) which was wonderful and so flavourful. My husband had the red smoothie, which he loved (and I stole many sips of!).
Overall, there is a great energy at Mama, with friendly staff and a beautiful space. The food was fantastic and we will definitely return if we get time on our trip!

So delicious! - Edit
Everything my wife and I tried here was delicious. We came here 3 times while we were in Reykjavik this week. The Mama curry, mushroom umami, tortilla chips and dips, and Dhal a la mama we're so good. The tea and kombucha were good too. The place is really cute. Servings are pretty big if you're hungry.

Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere - Edit
The meals were filling! We had the dal and the hummus for brunch, and are thinking of only having a light dinner. Very nice mix of flavors. The tamarind chutney and the vegan yogurt on the dal were particularly fun. The dessert looked delicious as well, but we didn’t have room for more.
Read moreThe ambiance was also quite nice. The back of the restaurant has a bit of a boutique cafe feel, with cushy chairs and small tables and all sorts of nice decorations. We enjoyed sitting and talking as well as eating.
