Buyer beware - Edit
Went here with my partner. I would have to agree with Pascal_UK and wish I'd seen the reviews before going, as it's hyped up in blogs/lists. It's situated in lovely Hong Kong Park and has a nice interior, sharing the building with a gallery. So, the overpriced dining should have been expected. In my experience, each person had to order tea (HKD$60 ea) otherwise pay a HKD$38 fee ea. The dishes were all average. Ordering from the Chef's recommended section ensures fresh in-house made food and it tasted fresh, but nothing stood out. Had the Shao Mai, baby bamboo dumplings, veg spring rolls, coconut cashew glutinous rice dumpling and coconut pumpkin glutinous rice cake. The spring rolls were good, and the glutinous rice desserts were interesting. For tea we had the double happiness and rising sun blossom teas, two of four or five caffeine-free teas. Not to my palate, but flower tea aficionados might like them. The service was attentive and friendly, maybe a little pushy but expected they were just doing what they were told. I think there are a myriad of other good places to dine out for vegan dim sum in HK.

Gorgeous tea house in HK Park with good dim sum - Edit
I've eaten here many times with work colleagues and guests visiting HK. It's always a good experience overall. Of course, one of the highlights is the ambience of the teahouse itself, and its setting in the middle of Hong Kong Park.
Read moreThey have a large tea selection, although the cheapest tea is around HKD 40. The tea is served in traditional Chinese way with hot water pot, mini tea pot per person, and a small cup to drink from. This prevents the tea from getting too strong/bitter.
The food is good. They don't have a massive selection and do sell out of certain items, but there is usually enough to choose from. My favourite items include the rice in lotus leaf, mushroom dumplings, veggie dumplings, and bean curd sheet roll. Found the noodles in soy sauce a bit oily/bland, and same with a few other items.
It does add up - I usually pay HKD 170 per person, and that is a light meal, and the service could be better/more friendly.
Book ahead as it is popular.

Sure, the place is nice (though surprisingly noisy), but I was very disappointed by the food which is below average. Choice is limited (mainly dim sum), and nothing except maybe the spring rolls was really tasty. Service is also mediocre. So basically you pay for the location only.

LockCha Tea House is set inside a historic building in one of Hong Kong's beautiful gardens. You can easily forget that you are in the middle of a very busy city. Their choice of teas is amazing. It just a pity that you can only manage one or two to try at a time. Thankfully there are take home packs.
Read moreFood is amazing. The dumplings are hand made on site and they taste it. The difficulty is working out which ones to try. The food is on the expensive side but worth it when you taste it. It makes it very hard to go back to defrosted dumplings again. Go, spend the money and enjoy. You won't regret it.

All dim sums have mushrooms or mushroom powder, almost all dishes have mushrooms so if you don't take mushrooms then think before u go.
Read moreI got rice noodles with sesame sauce which was v nice, cold cucumber which was not great, seasonal greens with wasabi which was nice. Dessert was hot jasmine syrup with sesame dumplings which was excellent. I loved it.
Didn't order any tea but will go back for afternoon tea next time.
Location is brilliant, in HongKong Park. Didn't know such a place existed, secluded in the busy central island.

I've visited Lockcha almost every time I'm in Hong Kong and really enjoy the location (a historic building with beautifully detailed woodwork and nice light with views of the park) friendly atmosphere and fast service.
Read moreThe stir fry noodles were a bit oily but very tasty with mushrooms and mixed veggies and chili sauce is available. Also good is the beancurd sheet with mixed veggies. The warm and delightfully gooey ginger cake made with sticky rice is a real treat. My favorite thing is the large pot of water by every table so afternoon tea can be leisurely and seemingly endless. The tea selections are extensive - The Chrysanthemum flower tea was woodsy, aromatic and nice. The teas are also available for purchase in gift tins.

The food was really good. The staff were very friendly. It's kinda expensive for the amount of food you get. It's closed every second Tuesday of the month. I learned this the hard way.

A lot of things were sold out on the menu when I went with my boyfriend which was a real shame. We didn't get to sample any of the dim sum. However what we did have was quite tasty. The portion sizes are small-ish so order a few dishes, though it is a good way to sample tastes. The tea was expensive but worth the experience. Fantastic location and waiting time wasn't too long. Great for tourists, visiting friends etc. The fried bean curd was tasty though nothing out of the ordinary.

I love this place and make it a point to visit while in Hong Kong. Besides the picturesque setting and decor, the food selection is delicious. But of course their specialty is tea and in that regard you are in for a treat. They will prepare it for you right there and explain anything you may like to know about all the different varieties. An experience not to be missed!

Best Tea and Dim Sum in Hong Kong - Edit
We came here looking for tea and dim sum (which we knew was like ordering appetizers) and were immensely pleased. The tea house was mostly full, but were were able to get a table quickly. Some of the staff did not speak much English, but were friendly and able to help us when we needed it. Our tea server showed us how to properly pour the tea and explained how the tradition worked. We really wanted to experience a tea ceremony in China, and this experience in the tea house was perfect for us. We ordered many dishes (wanting to try them all). Some were not available, but the ones that did come were well prepared, laid out nicely and very delicious. We were able to refill our tea pots as much as we wanted, and relax in the tea house for as long as we wanted.

Lovely vegan dim sum - Edit
Lock Cha Tea House is a wonderful place to relax and try a variety of vegan dim sum. The restaurant is located in the park, so it's lovely to enjoy a nice walk after lunch in the closest think to a natural place that you're likely to find around central HK. My wife & I generally ordered around 10 dishes, most of which were delicious. The food & tea are a little bit pricey, but probably what you'd expect for such a setting in HK. The restaurant is generally quite busy on weekend, so bookings are recommended.

Read moreI ordered a pot of tieguanyin tea that was lovely. I wanted to order some dim sum but my server said that both my first two menu choices were unavailable so I decided to try the shiitake and yuba skin stew instead. Big mistake. It was all very one note: salty. I've had yuba before but in this dish the textures were very challenging...everything was squishy and spongy.
I also had the black sesame balls in jasmine syrup and they were just ok, nothing spectacular.
I would definitely go back, but only for the tea.

Elegant Atmosphere & Fine Food - Edit
Was a very zen place that certainly knows about tea. The food we ordered was all excellent, though the serving sizes were quite small. However, we lounged for some time, relaxing and also admiring the tea ware around. The resto is located in the middle of HK park which is a tranquil area as well. Would definitely come back here again for a fancy afternoon.

It was quite busy and when we called to get a reservation for five, they told us 145. We showed up about 30 minutes early but they were able to seat us. They were friendly and the food was delicious. Beautiful setting, beautiful park surrounding, wonderful tea and accoutrements for sale in the shop. I went with four omnivores and they all loved it.

This was my by far the best dining experience I had while in Hong Kong - we came here twice.The restaurant is easily accessible by train (a ten minute walk from the Admiralty station) and the setting is lovely. Every little morsel of food was absolutely delicious, I can't speak highly enough of it. The highlights included a wide variety of dumplings, sticky rice in vine leaves, perfect red bean buns and an amazing coconut and nut dessert. A few tips: ask how many pieces come in each portion when you order, as there is no indication of this for some items. I would also recommend making a booking, as the first time we visited we had to come back an hour and a half later due to it being fully booked for lunch.

I went there today for lunch,it was packed with people but they found a table to share for me.I had yellow tea as drink and then dried almond vegetable soup,light and warming; then soya sheet w laver- tasty and light (3 pieces) ; curry w bean curd puff- spicy and good,big portion for a person;steamed chiu chow style dumpling-very good;jasmine dampling w black sesame filling- simply delicious!The place find itself in Hong Kong Park,a nice position away from the chaos of Central HK.Here it is possible to lunch in a quiet and warm atmosphere and I liked it.People serving kind,even though in a hurry..the place was full aeound 1pm.Price above average for a veg place but worth it.Everything well done and looked nice,too.Definitely I'll come back before I go back home.I want to try mashed coconut and pampkin cake! First, we should say we didn't actually eat here. It was our first choice for lunch in HK that day, we went in, the wait staff was abrupt, rude, though they had a wide open dining area would not let us eat there but wanted us to sit in the dirty section. After we pointed to a different, better table, he refused to sit us there, so we walked out. Weird.

The tea was great, and the decor was absolutely lovely. While it is great to find an all-vegetarian dim sum place, I was a bit underwhelmed by the food, especially since it was more expensive than other restaurants we had visited. I did like the dessert which was a black sesame seed ball in jasmine syrup. I also liked the noodles (however the portion size was quite small).

We enjoyed our afternoon tea at Lock Cha. No detectable MSG in the dim sum, the food wasn't too oily and the ambience was fabulous - very authentic feel. Service was pretty ok. We tried one of the more expensive teas on the menu (a 1996 puer I think) and to be honest, we didn't really 'get' it.. tasted pretty standard to us. You can by the way just order one good tea to share and one cheap one to take away in leaf form, which will save some budget. The food portions are teeny tiny so come here if you are very hungry. Unfortunately we were, so we ended up ordering a few things twice and still ate elsewhere a few hours later. Will be back for sure, just not when we have an appetite!

we were excited to go here with a mix of Chinese and Western friends. First we were a little surprised that the place was so closed-- instead of views of the gardens there was a lot of wall... Got a great selection of teas, but the waitress was in a hurry (even though restaurant was mostly empty as it was after 2 on a weekday) and just named the teas and walked away. When we asked if they were ready she said "if you like" so of course some teas had been in WAY too long and others not quite ready at all.

Then we went to Mana and got an actual meal.

This was a nice tea house right in the park. We went with friends, and were a bit disappointed that the food wasn't better, as we were treating them. Portions were teeny tiny but prices weren't. They also made each of us order a pot of tea, which we didn't expect (I think the tea cost $3 or $4 per person). I didn't like the curry, but the other dishes we tried were fine.

A set course dinner meny costs around 100 HK-dollars. The vegan dim sum was great! It was also an experience to try tea at a tea house- as western customers not used to asian culture we felt a bit awkward, but it was definitely worth it!

I never expected the food to be so small for what I would be paying for. My friend and I ordered about 10 dishes in total, paying well over $200 and we were still not full.

Also, it was very noisy for a place emphasizing on the tea tasting experience.
