Decent pizza

I went in May 2023. I ordered a veggie pizza option, and they had vegan cheese. I believe there was an option to choose all the veggies I wanted to add to the pizza. It wasn't the best pizza I've ever had, but it was decent.

Pizza tasted like chemicals

I wanted to like this place bc the server was nice and knowledgeable, but the pizza was so bad I couldn’t even get past the first bite. One of the dishes we ordered was good

Delicious Pizza and Dessert

My husband and I came here and each got a pizza and they were both absolutely delicious! Unfortunately they were out of the blueberry cheesecake, but we ordered the banana cake instead and it was great!

Pros: Good vegan options, Vegan desserts

Cons: A bit pricey

Good food, good mojitos

We had a nice time at La Masa! It’s not a fancy place. We were seated in the bar area which is very casual. We both had the eggplant lasagna and mojitos. The food wasn’t anything crazy special, but it was well-prepared and definitely did the trick. The food did take a while, but that’s just how the service is here, it’s slow everywhere. Eat a snack before you go out to eat or plan on getting appetizers. It’s not a race to the finish line like it is in the States.

Quiet charmer in the heart of Old San Juan

Very relaxed, casual atmosphere. Perfect pizzas with lots of vegan options, including vegan blueberry cheesecake, eggplant lasagna and some beautiful vegan appetizers. Cute private courtyard in the back of the restaurant but you wouldn’t know if you were only looking at the restaurant from the street. Located in the heart of Old San Juan. Plan to walk to this charming little restaurant because parking in Old San Juan is ALWAYS a challenge. There’s a super cheap ($1-$3) parking lot down by the cruise ship docks, and just a 10 minute super scenic walk to the restaurant from there! Plan to spend a good 15-25 minutes waiting for your food… everything seems to be prepared fresh here and quality food takes time. The eggplant lasagna is lovely, but more of an appetizer for 1-2 people. The pizzas are great. Lots of vegan options across the menu and they fully understand the concept of veganism, and will make an effort to “veganize” almost anything on the menu for you! Good service here too and the location really can’t be beat.

Pros: Casual atmosphere, Reasonably priced, Quality food

Cons: No air conditioning, only fans., Main dishes like eggplant lasagna are very small., Food prepared fresh so plan to wait for a bit!

Out of most vegan options

They were out of most of the vegan options including desert. The only available thing was the pizza and I didn't want to go through the whole dance of asking about the crust and sauce so I just had a beer while my non vegan friends ate.

Pros: They have vegan cheese, Staff is very nice

Cons: Long wait

good vegan pizza

there was no table for our whole party to fit, so we sat in the bar area. the vegan crostini was really good and we also got the veggie lovers pizza with vegan cheese which was good as well. there is also a vegan blueberry cheesecake which i wish i could have tried, but we decided to go eat vegan gelato instead.

Pros: service, yummy food

Cons: wait time, lack of tables

Meh

We got the vegan gnocchi with marinara sauce, eggplant lasagna and my Omni son got a non vegan pasta with pesto sauce. The gnocchi was just okay. At least it and the eggplant were on a thin layer of spinach. The eggplant was served later than all the other food and was a small portion and undercooked. The pesto sauce was so oily that he had to pat it with a napkin.

Very long wait but food was good

We found fewer vegan options in Old San Juan. Here we had the vegan broccoli crostini which was good and different. Vegan Eggplant lasagna was delicious but a small portion, not enough for dinner. Large veggie pizza w vegan cheese was good, though crust was a little underdone. The only downside was that we probably waited an hour for food and we were surrounded by empty tables!

Pros: Creative vegan options, Friendly staff, Great location in Old San Juan

Cons: Long wait for food

Many options with okay food

All their pizzas can be made vegan, substituting cheese for vegan cheese. The vegan cheese does cost an additional $4.
You can customize the pizza base as well.

The pizza itself was okay. They had a vegan appetizer on the menu but was sold out.

The atmosphere in the back patio was great and they have bar in the restaurant. The service was very slow and the staff did not seem too knowledgeable about the food.

Tons of options with knowledgeable staff!

My husband and I walked to this place from our hotel not knowing exactly what to expect other than one or two items listed on the menu. What we found out is that many of the items including all of the pizzas can be made vegan! The food is delicious although it is pretty slow coming out if you are starving like we were. We found it to be well worth the wait and highly recommend it

Pros: Lot of vegan options , Delicious , Great location

Cons: Kitchen is on the slow side, Street parking can be iffy

Not the best, not the worst!

I had a Margherita pizza with vegan cheese. Apparently it’s homemade chickpea cheese. The cheese was very good, but too much of it was on the pizza. Also the crust was very thin, bordering cracker-like. Although we are in San Juan, which is not known for pizza, so I don’t want to be too harsh😄I’m happy they have vegan cheese. They also have regular hummus and black bean hummus as sauce options if that interests you! My friend got the black bean hummus, it wasn’t my taste, but not bad!

Pros: Vegan options, Chickpea cheese

Excellent Pizza

The veggie lover's pizza was delicious. We were able to substitute for one of their vegan cheese options.

There are also a couple appetizers, but they were out of the one we wanted.

Great vegan pizza with vegan cheese!

I got the veggie pizza but was able to customize it so half of it only had certain vegetables. The dough was jalapeño and spicy and I loved it! The young girl who helped us was very friendly and helpful especially regarding vegan options. I also got the vegan banana cake and it was delish! I would definitely return here!

Pros: Decent vegan options , Friendly staff , Decent seating

Don’t waste your time (and money)

We had a really bad experience. We waited more then An hour for the appetizer to arrive, very dry and uninspired salad, than another half an hour to the mains which arrived in two different time. Vegan egg plant lasagna, under cook and totally a mess and after arrived the pizza (after almost one and a half hour of waiting) we asked for gluten free. The dough was horrible and everything was almost uneatable, the pizza was so small and we were so hungry and yet left half of it. Bill $40 without drinks...

Great spot in the Old City

Stopped by on a weeknight so it was not crowded. Katia the server is full of energy and great conversation. She recommended the best vegan dishes and we stuffed ourselves! This was one of the first times I’ve left a restaurant feeling satisfied in a long time. Wanted to stay behind a drink more but was too full :-D

Pros: Vegan gnocchi, Multiple vegan pizzas , Vegan crostini

Cons: None noted - this place rocks

Few Vegan Options

The only vegan options are two, small appetizers that are grossly over priced. I had the vegan crostini, and while it was tasty, it was tiny and cost more than most of the personal pizzas. You can make the pizzas vegan if you get no cheese, but come on, a pizza isn't pizza without cheese. Very disappointed, but if you're a vegetarian, you will like it here.

Pros: Vegetarian options

Cons: Few Vegan options, Vegan options overpriced, No vegan cheese substitute

Good try

They’re vegan options were mainly appetizers or side dishes. None of the pizzas were vegan unless you ordered without cheese.

Pros: A few vegan options , Nice atmosphere, Friendly people

Cons: Only a couple of vegan options, Side dishes / appetizers mainly , Not worth the price

Excellent Food

We enjoyed our meal here! Many vegan options available and you can veganize any pizza without cheese. The Gnocchi with Hazelnut sauce was delicious. Happy hour all day was a plus as well! They were advertising a vegan blueberry cheesecake which we did not try. Overall Recommended! 🥑🥑

Pros: Vegan Options, Excellent Food, Great Location

Cons: A little Pricey
