Lots of Rolls - Edit
I appreciate that Kei has a large vegetarian roll section, standard veg appetizers, and has also created veggie nigiri bites for a vegan sushi experience. Their interior decor is nicely decorated, they have one long booth seating wall and the rest is table seating or at the sushi bar. Although prices have increased over the years, it's never a jump of more than a dollar or two at a time. Rather than turning in order slips, you order with the servers at Kei which allows you to customize vegetarian items to be more vegan friendly like removing or substituting mayonnaise - in theory ! Each time I've asked, I get the roll standard as-is on the menu. Another complaint with this is that the staff typically isn't english as first language, which makes for confusing interactions, and staff also hides in the back rather than proactively taking the next order, clearing dishes. My favorite detail about Kei Sushi is that their Jade roll is vegan friendly as-is 💚 their flavor combos are the typical Reno AYCE latin fusion which isn't my favorite, but many vegans in Reno love Kei for their large menu of options for veg heads

New menu w more veg rolls - Edit
We have loved this place for years, and now their new menu has even more vegan and vegetarian options. The servers are very helpful and happy to leave off any non vegan sauces.

Vegetarian Rolls - Edit
I love that they have a vegetarian roll menu selection. Host didn’t mind ensuring my items were made vegan as well! I ordered 4 rolls and really enjoyed the Futomaki and one other (name I can’t remember). The other two were fine but not very exciting.

Their vegetarian selections can be made vegan. The restaurant changed my veg sushi choices from my online order when I said I was vegan (tempura has mayo, so they re-did the tempura sushi rolls for me). They also can make udon noodle soup vegan. Just ask!!! Lucy, who I spoke to when I got there, was an excellent help and oversaw the sushi rolls being made, and ensured my udon noodle soup was vegan. We are definitely going back for more!

Vegan Options! - Edit
Always happy when sushi restaurants actually try to have some unique vegan options! The Yasai is my fav with mango and macadamia nuts. Red Lotus if you want a whole roll fried option. The Hanna Roll was pretty boring. Next time can't wait to try the other ones but three rolls was very filling and now I need a sushi nap. Staff was quick and friendly. They had an amazing looking Asian inspired cocktail menu and a sake flight that I will try next time.
