Great, affordable, vegan food! - Edit
My husband ordered the BBQ protein, with the Mac & Cheese and plantains on the side, I got the curry "chicken" with rice/beans and Mac & Cheese. We also ordered 3 sides and a dessert. Everything was delicious, hot and fresh! That said, it's definitely not the kind of restaurant that has salads or lots of fresh vegetables, it's a perfect place to get a protein-packed vegan meal. This will definitely be added to our go-to restaurants!

Vegan Comfort - Edit
Amazing vegan food. I got the veggie plate with mac and cheese, rice and beans, potato salad, and plantains. It was SO good. I put BBQ sauce on the rice and beans and OMG. We also got the coconut delight smoothie and it was hands down the best smoothie I've ever had. Definitely try this place. They are so sweet and you won't regret it.

Absolutely Wonderful - Edit
If vegan was not displayed you would not know there was a difference. The mac and cheese is to die for and jerk anything here is mouth watering. Oh yeah and don't forget the cornbread with fresh corn and get some greens as a side. Yummy! Also, ask for the fresh pineapple ginger drink to accompany your meal. You won't regret it. The ladies who own the place have outdone themselves and vegan Jamaican cuisine. Head on over there. Don't stop. Go!

Fantastic Jamaican food, locally owned - Edit
What a great find! Fantastic Jamaican food, great value, and the nicest couple own the place! You get a choice of vegan protein, choice of delicious sauce and 3 sides for $10. So good! Recommend the jerk sauce and the plantains, mmmm. Fantastic dessert, too, a carrotty pound cake. Three of us vegans went, ordered different dishes, and every single thing was delicious. Five stars!!!

We really enjoyed the food here. The owners are very friendly. It felt like I was at someone's home, eating their home-cooked food. I was pleased with the options on the menu. I found the mac-and-cheese to be my favorite.

Wonderful vegan couple and food! - Edit
LOVE this vegan restaurant!!! The owners, Garnet and Jean, are such a lovely couple. They were so comfortable to talk with about our mutual love of being vegan and felt like we had known them for years. The food was amazingly delicious! I've always wanted to try a Jamaican patty, but have never found one that is vegan so I was thrilled to find they make some and theirs are wonderful! We also tried the curry chickpea patties and lentil soup and the flavors were perfect. We were short on time otherwise we would have tried the plate, but we will definitely be coming back numerous times. We took home the key lime cheesecake, blueberry muffins, carob muffins, and coconut cookie and they were all soooo delicious!!! Do yourself a favor and visit this sweet couple's kitchen. You will not be disappointed, whether you are vegan or not. :)

Jamaican/Soul Food with LOVE! - Edit
Even if you aren't vegan, you should at least give this place a try!
Read moreTampa doesn't have a lot of options for vegans, so we were so happy to have found this lovely little restaurant. When we first came in, Jean (one of the owners) greeted us with a warm welcome. The atmosphere is nice and friendly.
The prices are extremely reasonable and they even have a little shop that you can buy vegan items. This is helpful for newer vegans, or people who are interested in changing, because it gives options to those who have difficulty with knowing where to start with vegan food.
The menu is simple, but delicious. They offer soy based proteins and you can choose from curry, jerk, BBQ soy "earth", "ocean" protein or tofu. Then you pick your sides. We started with the homemade hummus and chips, and the spring rolls. The hummus was really good and so were the spring rolls! I got the collard greens, mac 'n cheese and potato salad. All were very good, personally, I would amp up the flavor in the mac n' cheese a little more, but it was still good. My husband got the "ocean" protein and it was delicious. I also had the natural ginger pineapple juice, very good. We got the soy cheesecake for dessert, which was also very yummy. The flavors for the day were key lime, coconut, or blueberry. I couldn't finish, I was happily full!
The service was excellent and personable, it's was only Jean and her husband, Garnett working, so it was a very intimate experience. Jean was great to us, attentive and I felt like I was at grandma's house, eating a down home meal. After eating, we chatted with Jean and Garnett for a few moments, I can tell that they love what they do and that they are truly interested in helping to introduce people to a healthier way of living and eating. They were so friendly and down to earth, I would absolutely recommend Just 4 U Vegan to anyone who is in the area or just visiting.
Jean even told us to make sure that we were honest in our review, because there is always room for improvement. I guess the only suggestion that I would have as a restaurant goer, is the lighting in the restaurant. I'm a person who doesn't really do well with fluorescent lighting, so to me the lighting is kind of harsh, I personally would enjoy softer lighting, but that's just me. My husband also agreed about the lighting, but that doesn't take away from the excellent food and delightful service.
So, if you're looking for plant-based options, this is your place!
Pros: Great customer service, Great food, Quiet
Cons: Lighting too harsh,

Hidden Delight - Edit
Like sitting in my grandmas kitchen this place is special. Not a typical restaurant so expect more of a kitchen experience like the name says. I had the jerk veggie burger and loved the flavor. A nice kick to it. Took home black bean turnovers, blueberry cake and cheesecake. The cheesecake was not my favorite but would come back for the rest anyday.

sweet staff and delicious food - Edit
Just had lunch there with my husband. Not many vegan options in this area. We had the curry soy protein with rice and peas, mac and cheese, sweet plantains and potato salad. The potato salad and mac and cheese were excellent. The southwestern patty was awesome also! The curry could have had a bit more flavor but honestly the lunch was delicious so why nit pick.

Yummy Food - Awesome Owners - Edit
I would highly recommend this small, unassuming restaurant. The menu is pretty simple: choose your protein, choose your sauce, and choose 3 sides. You'll get a perfectly prepared, authentic Jamaican entree for $9. They also have appetizers, soup, smoothies and desserts, which we didn't try.
Read moreThe owners, who cook and serve your meal, are a delightful couple who obviously love what they do. The husband told me he cooks with love, and it's the best seasoning ever!
A word about parking: This restaurant is in a small building with 3 other businesses and there is only 1 handicapped and 4 other parking spots in front. However, there is parking behind the building, which I only know because I asked the owner. To reach these spots turn west off of N Nebraska onto E 130th Ave. I'd advise using these spots because the spaces in front of the building are only a few feet off the road. The building is between E 130th Ave and Lexington Blvd on N Nebraska Ave.
We were traveling north on I275 coming from the Tampa Airport and this restaurant was an easy-off / easy-on. We'll stop by whenever we make this trip in the future.
Pros: authentic, home style food, tasty choices, delightful owners
Cons: small - you could drive by it before you see it, closed Friday & Saturday - so plan your visit acco

This place is tiny and pretty nondescript, but it's well worth checking out. Nice variety of home-style Jamaican cuisine, as well as lots of desserts (mostly various cakes). There's also a small market, in case you want to try and recreate some of the food at home!

A Hidden Treasure - Edit
I was in Tampa at USF for a conference and I'm grateful that Happy Cow located this hidden vegan treasure only about 2 miles from where I was staying! I never would have found it otherwise ... Run by a delightful, friendly, hospitable Jamaican couple, this modest hole-in-the-wall (and I say that with love ... holes-in-the wall are the best!) served up wonderful home cooking. I had a delicious dinner of curried "earth soy protein," plantains, black beans and rice, corn bread, cabbage, and mac 'n cheez. I brought back to the hotel multiple slices of dessert ... ginger and carrot pound cake, and chocolate cheesecake. Amazing!

not fancy, but good food - Edit
I brought my 2 vegan daughters to Just 4 U. The restaurant itself is very modest, modest atmosphere but clean. The food is served on paper plates and served with plastic utensils. You pick the protein then choose the sauce (Curry, jerk, BBQ and brown sauce). You then choose three sides (corn on the cob, string beans, yam, plantain, mac and cheese [I have had better], etc). The food may remind you of visiting your mom and eating her delicious home cooked meal. You don't eat here for a date night. You go there to fill your belly with yummie food. The price is fair and won't break the bank. We paid $45 for 3 of us with 2 deserts (upside down pineapple cake (was ok) and really yummie cheesecake, and one smoothie. This also included 2 patti's we took home (we both prefered the chick pea one). I look forwarding to eating there again.

Wonderful Food for Your Body & Soul - Edit
We visited Just 4 U Vegan Kitchen after reading reviews and we are so glad we did. The owners are a wonderful couple who make great dishes, smoothies, and deserts. After the delectable spring rolls, I had the Jerk Ocean Protein "It's All In The Sauce" platter with mac and cheese, plantains and potato salad = AMAZING! The Jamaican Patties were really good too. The cheesecake and Coconut Delight Smoothie was the perfect way to top it off! The portions were great and the prices were right. We are looking forward to visiting again really soon!
