Delicious

The best vegan meal I've ever had. Fresh, delicious, surprising. Who would have thought there is a gem like that in Chester.
Love every single bite.

Pros: Delicious, Great atmosphere, Fresh, seasonal ingredients

Cons: A bit pricey but so worth it

Amazing Sunday Lunch

Hypha is Chester’s first plant-based, sustainable venue. We had the privilege of trying their Sunday lunch recently and it left us wanting to tell everyone about it. The restaurant is located on the Northgate wall and from the outside appears quaint. The inside is well decorated, modern and inviting. Whilst it's a small space this is the charm of the place.

Their menu is based on small plates and is micro-seasonal, so dishes change due to what comes in fresh and what is best sourced. We opted for the Sunday lunch consisting of roast celeriac, nutmeg & borlotti bean stuffed spring cabbage leaf. hypha roast potatoes. watercress & spinach pureé. smoked sumac aubergine. chive oil. paprika crumb. charred purple sprouting broccoli & the world’s best vegan demi-glacè. Whilst it was a small plate; we absolutely savoured every moment of it.

Cozy restaurant, delicious food

We have been positively surprised by this place , great location on the city walls, cozy atmosphere, delicious and healthy food. The size of he dishes could have been bigger... but the friendly staff recommended us to order 2/3 dishes each😄. Superb dessert and a dog friendly area that means everything if you have a dog!

Pros: Delicious and healthy food, Dog friendly area, Cozy atmosphere

Cons: Bit pricy but worths the food quality

Beautiful food and atmosphere

A group of around 10 of us visited yesterday after a long cold cube of truth in the city.
The restaurant is decorated beautifully and has a calm atmosphere. The food was delicious and served quickly, although personally I thought the portions were on the small side. I ate the focaccia (which was Devine!) the Sunday roast which was delicious especially the ‘bacon’ and the choc and beet brownie which honestly was ok compared to the other food which blew me away! The drinks were my favourite though! I had raspberry kombucha and lavender and rhubarb kefir (omg I could of drank a whole pint of the kefir!) so beautiful!
The staff were very helpful and friendly, even accommodating for one of the groups gluten allergy.
On the way out I noticed the kefir and kombucha brewing which was awesome to see. I’ll definitely be back!

Pros: The food is Devine, The atmosphere is calm, Staff are very helpful but not overpowering

Cons: Portions a bit on the small side, Not a full menu on a Sunday

Loved the experience. Best vegan food I have tried for a while and I have been visiting a few places abroad. World class! Totally recommend it to Vegans/Vegetarians and meat eaters that are curious to try something different.

Pros: Imaginative vegan dishes, Great ingredients , Great atmosphere

Cons: Not many tables but that makes it cosy

Very friendly!

I’ve only come here once, but I do have to say that one of the best parts of this place is that the staff are so incredibly friendly! They made me laugh and smile a lot throughout my visit. My husband and I came here during lunch, and we jus ordered the soup and the mushroom sandwich. It wasn’t a lot of food. We didn’t quite understand their system of ordering a lot of little things and sharing (we know for next time!). But we absolutely loved what we ordered. I do hope they add more options to their menu in the future. I’m looking forward to going again and trying more!

Pros: Completely plant-based, Trendy, simplistic, rustic feel , SUPER nice staff

Exciting and fresh

My wife and I were looking forward to visiting this small but bold restaurant since we heard of its conception in 2018! The staff are very experienced in hospitality and have held positions in several successful establishments in Chester, so from the outset you are in very safe hands. The one added caveat is the 100% commitment to a plant based menu and the courage to not hold back on creativity!
‘The menu’ consists of small plate dining with the emphasis on taste and presentation rather than amount. We ordered several plates to share and were blown away with every mouthful!
‘The bar’ consists of an array of experimental beverages the likes of which you’ll find in a mad scientists lab! But like the food it works! And is in sublime keeping with the idea of something new and exciting! These guys are pushing boundaries and breaking the vegan stereotype.
We have since been for their Sunday roast and have booked again for another night of kombucha gin and pineapple shandy.

Pros: 100% plant based

Creative dishes and drinks in minimalist setting

Beautifully presented, delectable small plates to share in a modern minimalist environment. Each dish had a really individual flavour palate and we especially loved the artichoke hummus! Staff were incredibly friendly and happy to explain their ethos and dishes to us. The cocktails were also amazing and all mixed with handmade, unique mixers like their beet lemonade! Would highly recommend!

Pros: Fresh dishes with local ingredients, Great cocktails, Beautiful setting

Good luck to this new and exciting restaurant

Had a lovely lunch today. It's just opened and we were really keen to try it. So glad it wasn't a disappointment. The decor is lovely and we were there on a sunny day which made the place feel light and airy. The decor is uncluttered yet warm, and the service is genuine and friendly.

My wife isn't Vegan but I am and we had an excellent meal. Really tasty and healthy. Had 3 courses, felt pleasantly full and not stuffed. The portion size is just right.

They are obviously using really good ingredients and the Chef seems to have a great flair for plant based cookery. I live in Chester and will be heading back again soon.
