Amazing for the price.

For me this place was amazing. Probably doesn't offer so much, but so nice to find a everything you can put in a plate for just $10.000 kip. Incredible. And you pass the plate to the guys and they will warm it in the wok.
The atmosphere is great. Meet a few good vibe travelers there.
Was not so difficult for me to find it. Just read the previous comment, check for Wat Mai temple, and was there just in the corner of the temple.
Drinks options are beer or soda can's for 6.000.

Totally recommended!

Decent vegan buffet

There’s two veggie buffet stands at the night market and I liked them both equally, they both have their pros and cons and the food was very similar consistency.

THIS one is on the main road of the night markets, in the midst of the clothing/ souvenir stands. As you walk down Sisavangvong Rd you’ll find it on a street corner on the left, opposite Luang Prabang Library. It’s a nicer location than the other one which is tucked away in an alleyway with meat stalls.

The plate at this one is a bit smaller than the other buffet, but then again so is the price - 15,000/ plate rather than 20,000. There are a little less dishes to choose from too - about 20 options though, which is still plenty! And it’s all vegan.

The guy can reheat your selection in a wok, when we went there he was still setting up and the wok wasn’t ready so we didn’t wanna trouble him. We went at 5:45pm and it wasn’t busy at all, but had passed through at 7pm a different night and it was absolutely chockers, with no room to sit. We noticed he had takeaway containers too, so that’s an option.

The only thing we disliked about this one was that we bought a Beerlao for 15,000 and were given a small bottle. Rip off -most places in Laos charge 12,000 for a BIG Beerlao.

Pros: all vegan, cheap meal - 15k/ plate

Cons: overcharges for beer, food is nothing too exciting

Very cheap and large variety of food!

Whilst the food may not be the tastiest I've ever had, it certainly was extremely varied and incredible value for money! The experiences is great too, as you sit down around a table of strangers you'll be able to converse and share stories instead of staring at your smartphone!

Pros: Tonnes of options , Very cheap

Sorry, but not delicious!

The food tastes very old and I could not even eat a third of my plate which is a shame in one of the poorest countries in the world but I couldnt eat it. Dont Go there, its just cheap mass production!

Cheap and decent

Nothing special, but it does the job and fills you up. A plate for 20,000 kip with lots of variety.

HUUUGE Variety of Vegan and Vegetarian Food

Cheap mostly vegan and some vegetarian food. The food tastes pretty good especially for the price you pay but other restaurants/cafes are better but then it'll cost a bit more and you only get 1 dish. Costs 15,000 kip for 1 decently sized bowl (approx NZD2).

Pros: Great variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes, Cheap

Cons: Noisy bring in the busy night market alleyway

So much choice!

This place is really good if you’re on a budget and want to eat LOADS of food! I double checked with the owner that there was no egg, but did see a few yellow noodle dishes (which I’m fairly sure yellow noodles are egg noodles?) I steered clear of them anyway and had tonnes of fried rice and curry and greens that were delicious! There were some super tasty looking deep fried aubergine/plantain too but the stall owner also owns the fried meat stall next to it, I thought maybe they are fried in the same oil. It also gets pretty hot and crowded in the market area but what can you expect! It’s definitely worth a visit :)

Very cheap

We visited both stalls. The first one down the street with other food vendors was much better but neither were phenomenal. You can get a lot of food for a very reasonable price so it’s ideal if you need to fill up but the food is lukewarm and it’s a melee to actually get at any of the plates. Seating is pretty rough too.

Pros: Very cheap, Some really lovely dishes (Rice was great!), GREENS!

Cons: Lukewarm food, Rough and ready plate filling and seating, Sometimes very greasy

Delicious, Great Value for Money

More variety than you can fit in your bowl of delicious options. Only con was we were traveling with our daughter, and it got pretty crazy and loud in the tent by about 6:15.

Pros: Value for Money, Tasty food

Cons: Loud and busy in tent for kids

Caught gastro here

I wouldn't advise this buffet - I ate last night and have been really sick today. Went to the doctor and he said I have gastro. The food is served cold and it's unhygenic with lots of people standing over it. Tasted ok and lots of options and cheap but trust me for the night I just had I couldn't be paid to return.

Pros: Lots of options, cheap

Cons: Incredibly unhygenic

Sooo many options and sooo cheap

the first side street to the night market has a very small alert with many food stall, one of them is a vegetarian buffet (they sell meat as well but not as part of the buffet). You can fill your plate for 15000 kip. They have 30 different dishes to choose from, all vegan, and for the cheapest price. The choices include a lot of different vegetable dishes, a couple of raw veggies, 1 or 2 rice dishes, a large number of noodle dishes, fried food such as spring rolls and veggie beignets, and some fresh fruit. Everything tasted great. Only downside is that nothing is spicy at all.

Pros: All vegan/vegetarian, Large selection of dishes (30+), Super cheap

Cons: Not spicy

Not vegan

They served both fried egg and grilled meat when I visited although claiming to be “all vegetarian”. All dishes were bland and oily. Very unhygienic with (western) customers sticking their noses and hands into the food. At 15.000 it’s dirt cheap, though.

Massive, cold buffet to fill up on!

Seeing this much vegetarian food in one place is the most exciting thing for a traveller struggling with the language barrier and wary of stocks used etc. Great variety. All cold, and some veg a little mild for taste so ask for the extra chilli in the sellers bag.

Pros: Lots of choice!

Cons: One bowl, one chance! Pile high and ask for chilli

Delicious, cheap and entirely vegan

Huge selection of Lao cuisine. Confirmed entirely vegan buffet. If you want to have it warm (which you should) just ask or heat it on the cookers yourself 😊 also serves fresh fruit. 15000kip per bowl.

Pros: Delicious, cheap and entirely vegan

Cons: When food is heated all of the dishes become one, Lots of meat smells from neighboring stalls

THE place for dinner in Luang Prabang

I loved this place! You fill your own bowl with as much food as they can hold and it’s only 15k! Great value, some of the dishes are really flavorful, everything seems fresh! You can even get desserts like fruit or baked banana.

Pros: Lots of different options, Super cheap

cheap but bland

No doubt it is the cheapest option for a vegan/vegetarian meal. But all the dishes tasted quite bland and even the curry was lacking the usual flavours. The fried veggies are oily and cold.

Pros: cheap

Cons: no flavour

Quick and cheap!

The buffet had a lot of things to choose from, for a really cheap price! Almost everything I had tasted great. The food is cold but the staff is happy to warm it up for you!

Cold and bland food

Would probably have missed it unless a girl who was working there called out vegetarian buffet. Everything is vegan, and meat is sold on the side. Tried many different dishes, but everything was bland and cold. They offered to heat up in pan also used for meat, we said no thanks. Would not come back. I'd recommend going to a stall that sells sandwiches and get an avocado tofu sandwich without mayo instead.

Pros: All vegan

Cons: Cold food, Not tasty, very bland, Crowded place

nice market

Went there yesterday and location on the map is updated now. They sell vegan food and you are free to add meet. Air is filled with barbecue smoke. It's not freshly cooked but I didn't get sick either. Food is ok at least it fills.

Pros: cheap

Cons: serves meet

Night Market stalls worth the risk

Ate here on 10th October 2017. Up to date location and directions are that the night market vegan stalls ARE in the first side lane on the left as one walks from Kitsalath Road along Sisavangvong Road (which is closed to vehicular traffic at night when the market operates). To be clear, Indigo café is right on the corner of the lane and Sisavangvong Road.

The food is diverse and good and cheap (15,000kip per plate full) BUT most of it is air temperature so has clearly been cooked somewhere else and brought here. AND, although the food is all up on tables, don’t look down on the floor/ground if you are worried about cleanliness. ALSO, the two stalls which sell vegan food have a grilled chicken and/or fish stall between them which somehow seems associated with them (as the man there received the money for the buffet).

Tables for eating at are on the other side of the narrow walkway opposite the stalls. The stalls are really popular with foreign tourists and, although we were certainly worried by the lack of cleanliness of the place and the fact the food wasn’t hot, we didn’t get sick and in fact felt well-sustained by it. Definitely, worth a try if you’re game.

Pros: cheap, diverse and good tasting food , an experience in itself

Cons: lack of cleanliness of surrounds and bowls

no vegetarian or vegan stalls!

There were definitely no vegetarian or vegan stalls there and we checked twice. There are about 3 or 4 stalls offering 'vegetarian buffet' where you fill a bowl for 15,000. The food is far from fresh and far from delicious in my opinion, and I had an upset stomach the next day. Every stall also sells lots of meat and fish on sticks which they grill and the whole place is full of meat smoke. I wouldn't go here. For 15,000 kip you can get a tasty avocado or peanut butter sandwich at one of the stalls near the entrance, ( although the bread may not be vegan as always). You can also get tasty meals in some restaurants such as a great pad Thai in Bamboo Garden restaurant or fresh spring rolls in phounsub restaurant.

Also - don't miss the mini pancakes sold at the entrance to the food alley! You can get these lots of places- made just with rice, coconut milk and sugar. Seriously delicious.

Wrong address

The vegan/ vegetarian buffet is no longer at the mentioned location at the corner of Wat Mai. You can however find 2 stores selling vegan and veggie meals for 15,000 kip at the "food street". They hand out pink bowls and you can eat to your heart's content. Simple and delicious! Look out for the meat at the corner of the stall- that's real meat and not vegetarian/ vegan!

The best place to eat in Luang Prabang

So many options, all you can eat buffet for 15,000 kip. The food is sometimes cold but still delicious! 10/10 recommend. Go down the alley next to the Indigo cafe and it is about halfway down. Handing out pink bowls 👍👍

Amazing!

Wrong address on Happy Cow. Upon entering the market from the west, take your first left down a side alley. This is where the food market is and there is a vegetarian stand among them.

Vegetarian buffet for 15,000kip - amazing!
