Great food - Edit
I got the gouda burger and it was really tasty and made perfect. I just wish there was even more if it. I also got the carrot ginger lemonade - I highly recommend it!

Great wrap! - Edit
Vegan soul food options! A good spot to stop on your way to or from a game at Capital One Arena. With several locations to visit I’ll be looking for a HipCity Veg on my travels from now on.

Excellent fast casual spot - Edit
The food was outstanding. I had the chick'n fajita wrap, and my boyfriend had the Ziggy burger. We shared, and both options were outstanding. If I was just reviewing food, I would give 5 stars. They have little seating, which was a negative. It would be nice if they had a few tables outside or were able to add more seating inside. I know it's a small space. Also, the service wasn't particularly friendly, and they gave us the wrong sauce at first. However, it was a great experience overall and I will absolutely go back.

Great place - Edit
Very tasty good, service is good. The place has a good variety of organic food as burgers, salads, desserts. I would recommend. A little expensive but for Washington DC is still decent price.

Great atmosphere - Edit
It's a small place with a few seats, wonderful service, and quite busy. Loved the Zippy Burger which might seem like a plain hamburger but was packed with flavor and was ridiculously good without unnecessary frills. They have a few seats. Close to the Metro.

Great Vegan Spot Walking Distance to DC Attractions - Edit
We enjoyed our meal at Hip City Veg and would return.
Read moreWe were visiting DC on a Sunday and walked to the restaurant from where we had parked (in front of the Archives Building). It was about a 15 min walk one way.
We arrived around 3pm on a Sunday and even though seating has been reported to be few, we thought we might find seating being a slow time of day. We were quite wrong. We waited for our food and hoped a spot would open up but it didn't. Don't expect to find seating.
It was really nice to walk to the Chinatown area of DC.
We like this restaurant better than Fare Well.
What we got:
Chicken Ranch Sandwich: Really liked the breading but didn't hardly taste the ranch which is ridiculous given the price.
Smokehouse burger: Okay burger. It was the beyond burger (I personally prefer gardien for vegan burgers). I would have liked more sauce and fried onions. (not as good as I would have expected based on prior reviews).
Mocha Milkshake: Really delicious, great flavor
Chocolate Milkshake: One of the better vegan milkshakes we've had. We would try the other flavors.
It was about $35 - $40 for everything which was a bit expensive. About $8 - $12 for each item.
HipCityVeg was similar to Native Foods (which is better) but the portion sizes were smaller for a similar price and HipCityVeg was skimpy on the sauces.
Nice Vegan option for the area, just wish they had more seating, bigger portions and actually added sauces. Salads also looked a bit small.
Restroom: One available, non gendered, no baby changing table, could have been cleaner.

Everything's vegan, which already makes it amazing. Everything I've gotten here has been great. I had the barbecue burger, which was a special, and a vanilla milkshake. Both great.

Great food - Edit
Our family of four enjoyed the food! We went here two days in a row while staying in DC area. We tried the Philly steak, ziggy burger, hip city ranch and smokehouse burger. Smokehouse is the best! My kids also love the orangesicle milkshake and sweet potato fries with sriracha aioli. Kinda pricey but oh so good!

super quick and quality food - Edit
the food was incredible (i recommend the "chicken" sandwich with ranch) and came out very quickly. most of their packaging was compostable which add points for me! a perfect stop for a quick healthy bite but there is little seating and gets quite crowded with people ordering to go.

If you like the fast food Vegan fare this is the place. Prices are fair and everything on the menu is delicious. Also very Earth conscious with plant based utensils, straws and plates.

Good but first impressions matter. - Edit
As I sit here in the establishment now, this is my second time coming as I am in the DC area. I ordered the Philly Steak, asking if all the condiments on the menu was on the food. The one at the register said yes, and I was fine with that. I ordered and open my food to see extra sauces (I don’t like white sauces—wish I did though) and asked for a remake. I should have pushed more about the condiments but I trusted the register employee. When he asked for the remake, the chef was upset and said “they need to start reading so we don’t have to make the same food again [sh*t]. When the register employee said that that was not on the menu, there was nothing they could say. They acted confused as if they did not know their own menu and what was listed on it. To better accommodate HIM, I told him that he did not have to make it. For this to be a top rated restaurant in DC, the chef attitude around opening makes me give it 2 stars. The food is great, but his attitude is negative.

Best Vegan Food in the City - Edit
If comfort food, “junk” food, and the need to eat until you’re so full, this is the place!! Ya’ll, I live in DC and the first week I moved here I had a milkshake lunch for an entire week. The staff is always friendly, efficient, and the FOOD- filling, fast, and always hits the spot.
Read moreMy top recommendations:
1. Milkshake- birthday cake comes every now and then, the black and white is half chocolate half vanilla.
2. Philly Steak
3. Disco Chicken- great sauce
4. Ziggy Burger
5. Lil Golden Nugs- simplest thing on the menu, but the sriracha sauce is delicious and it fills your chicki nuggie needs.
Beware of lunch and dinner rushes!! They fill up f a s t. And I’ve had to wait 26 minutes for a milkshake once and was late going back to work 😭
Pros: Tasty, Cool staff
Cons: Busy lunch and dinner rushes

Do it! You need to go here! - Edit
So I had just got to my hotel, logged onto the trusty HappyCow, and discovered I was within walking distance to this place.
Read moreI had a smokehouse burger ... my oh my, what a burger it was. Like seriously, probably the best burger I’ve ever eaten. It was so good I actually re-entered the establishment and tried a wizard BBQ chick’n wrap, which was equally sensational. It’s reasonably expensive, however totally worth it in my opinion!
I have no shame in admitting I will be within this place for at least one meal a day while I am in D.C.
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Amazing burgers

The vegan fast food - Edit
This is the first style of ‘fast food’ I’ve had that’s all vegan, and I love it! The staff is great, and quick. The menu is intoxicating with so many delicious treats to choose from. I ended up getting the buffalo chick’n sandwich with sweet potato fries. NO JOKE- best I’ve had, sandwich and fries. The sandwich was crunchy on the outside, and tender inside. The sweet potato fries were the best I’ve had- and I’ve had a lot of sweet potato fries. They come with side dips to choose from, I highly recommend the black bean dip (sauce). I can’t wait to go back!
