My favorite place in Leiden - Edit
I have grabbed food here twice during my short stay in Leiden. On the first occasion, I have tried their burger with salad and added some fries and a home-made ginger lemonade. On my second occasion, I have had their wrap with falafels. Their food is really tasty, and their staff is welcoming.

100% vegan and lots to choose from. Salads and sandwiches and juices, but also burgers and milkshakes and cake. Very friendly personnel and they work quick. This is the place you want to visit in Leiden. It's not in the city center but close enough to walk (10 minutes from the burcht) . I went 3 days in a row and loved everything. If I have to recommend one thing it would be the freakshakes.

We went here for lunch and I was so happy to see they only serve vegan food. We had kroket and flatbread with "chicken" and "bacon". My non-vegan boyfriend confirmed that the vegan bacon was extremely realistic. They also serve borrelhapjes and vegan cakes. *-*

We were looking for a vegan place to invite family who are not vegan, so we had to make sure it was a place to impress them. And impressive it was! We all loved the DELICIOUS food, it was very, very good. Everything was a feast for the eye and tastebuds, fresh and tasty. The service was great, very friendly staff. Definitely a must go when you’re in Leiden!

Pros: All options are supposedly vegan, Nice and quite, Alternative touch
Cons: Some things are a little Pricy, Burger looks and tastes too much as meat

Nice ‘hidden’ gem - Edit
A little out of the way for foreigners, brisk half hour walk from central station, but well worth it and good to shed the calories. Food was great, had the beyond sausage with sauerkraut. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

I went to Leiden for my birthday and looked up a place to have a nice piece of cake or pie. I stumbled upon Het Slachthuis. It was a little walk from the city centre, but it was absolutely worth it!

The barkeeper/clerk was extremely friendly and gave us some great tips for (vegan) dinner in Leiden.
I would have loved it if they had a “tasting menu” where you can order more little pieces of sweets, or if they’d had more options in general. They offer many options on their website to order, but they have a much smaller selection in the café.
Overal we had a great experience there. And I would definitely recommend the hot coco!

This restaurant is located at the former wheat factory of Leiden. It has a really nice ambiance and friendly personnel. The food tasted really good and they have lots of options. Eating at this place is really worth your time!
