Best burger ever - Edit
Been here a few times, even though I have to walk about 30 min every time it's ALWAYS worth it. Staff is incredibly nice and the food is great. I usually go for the burger + beer Thursday deal. I've tried most of the burgers but my favourite is without a doubt the California burger! Both of us in the picture are having it, plus the seitan tenders! Cannot recommend this place enough, especially the California burger, might be the best vegan burger I've had.

Food good service bad - Edit
I went for a late lunch and the food was good. Burgers were tasty but the doughballs and cauliflower was a little disappointing.
Read moreService was extremely poor. The cafe was not busy but it took ages to clear the table. The waitress seemed more interested in talking to her friend than serving us.

Brilliant! - Edit
Loved the food, which was very tasty, plenty of it, and reasonably priced. One of best vegan burgers we’ve had in this country, and the cheesecake was gorgeous. Only Ellie was serving when we were there, but the service was quick, food nice and hot, and Ellie was was very welcoming and friendly. Thank you for a delicious meal. 😺😸

Disappointing - Edit
I had been looking forward to visiting HFK since its opening. Went on a Sunday and brought my family (who are not vegan). The service was slow, two orders were forgotten, the food was average. I so wanted to show everyone how good vegan eateries can be! The staff were very nice but completely overwhelmed by the busy restaurant! I am no planning a return visit unfortunately.

Happy Friday Kitchen - Edit
I’m a bit perplexed by all the 5-star/cow reviews. We waited 40 minutes for our food and what came out was subpar. The cauliflower appetizer was the best thing, then it went WAY downhill from there. The loaded nachos were odd. Firstly, they were topped with kidney beans (not black beans) and the sour cream tasted more like French dressing. Not only do these flavors not belong in traditional nachos, the flavors in this dish were very odd together—think cheesy nachos, salad dressing, and chili all in one bowl...that’s what it tasted like to me. The mac and cheese burger was extremely disappointing. The mac tasted more like mustard than cheese and the seitan patty was very dry.
Read moreDespite the drawbacks, I thought it was nice they had a “pick and mix” candy section in the back. I saw some candies from the US and Germany back there.
The staff were also friendly, but very slow to seat you and prepare food.

Pizza great, the rest awful! - Edit
We are vegans so thought we’d give this a try, staff were very friendly. Food took about 35mins to arrive so children were getting ratty, the table was reserved so we said we’d leave in time but because the food took so long we were shovelling it down and had to take most of it home. Pizza was lovely, real pizza oven I think! But the burger, burrito bowl and Mac were gross! None of us enjoyed it at all. Junk food mainly but we wanted healthy veg. Cost £40 for 2 adults, toddler and baby. Ouch! Wont go back.

Great food, good with allergens - Edit
Delightfully satisfying and deliciously junk-foody! The pizzas are excellent as is the mac and cheese. Haven’t yet tried to whole menu but I’m working up to it. The staff seem to really enjoy the food they cook and serve and are extremely helpful when it comes to allergens. My partner has a nut allergy and is intolerant to soya and every time we’ve been they’ve been very helpful about what contains traces, etc. Would definitely recommend!

Love it here! - Edit
Came here for my birthday lunch a couple of months back and totally fell in love with it. If you visit, look out for little Buddha the sweet white dog who is so friendly! The owner, Lola served us and was really friendly - I very much admire her in starting this business on her own and running it too. The food was great. We had the seitan strips and a Mac daddy burger, really filling and delicious. I will return next time I’m in the area.
