Nice food & atmosphere

I’ve been here twice, once for brunch and once for lunch. Both times were fantastic. It’s a little pricey, but worth it.

Pros: Some good whole food options

Cons: Expensive

Solid menu selection for PB eaters.

Scheduled a lunch meeting here with a friend from Chicago. I’m plant-based but he is not. Love the ambience inside of the café. Menu has a great selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and entrées. Just the right amount of options for each category. I get a little concerned when I see too big of a menu in a plant-based café and these guys nailed it!

Pros: Cozy atmosphere without being pretentious, Perfectly arranged drink and food menu, Friendly staff

Cons: 90 minutes from my house.

So Delicious

I love their menu and their staff is fantastic. They also have a variety of gluten-free options which are clearly stated on the menu.

Pros: All vegan

Cons: It can get busy so make a reservation in advance.

Yummy

App- buffalo cauliflower- good, but a little too much breading and not enough sauce. Sauce on the side helped. $9
Chick’n and biscuits - like a deconstructed pot pie. Delicious! $19
Restaurant week trio - French onion soup, lasagna, panna cotta. Soup was good, lasagna was phenomenal, dessert - would have preferred a cupcake-didn’t care for it. $35 for all.

Pros: All vegan, Delicious food

So far they have come

I remember before they had gone vegan and I had something and it wasn't so good and then went back and was about to write them off but once they went vegan the food improved greatly and the many times I have gone back I can say it is almost always been top notch. There are occasional dishes that could be refined a bit more but the classics are always delicious.

If you are new here get the Spinach Artichoke dip for sure and the Chocolate Lava Cake. Also if you are into alcoholic beverages they do some pretty nifty cocktails and if not they have other delicious drinks that are not alcoholic but still great.

Staff is also generally quite friendly and if you have to wait you can go into Nest or Roots and hang for a bit.

Pros: Delicious Food, Vegan, Friendly Staff

Cons: Prices are not cheap, Some dishes on occasion could use some refinement

This place is a delight, just watch out for certain dishes

I LOVE Great Sage. It's the only all-vegan place in the area where I feel comfortable dressing up a little bit and going to have a plant-based meal on the fancier side. The location is not convenient, that's for sure - but pairing a meal with a shopping visit to Roots Market next door, and to the Conscious Corner gift/clothing store in the plaza, makes it more worth the drive.

I think Great Sage has some really fantastic dishes on their menu, such as (subject to change) the pierogi quesadilla, the root vegetable phyllo tart that has popped on their seasonal menus, the nachos (with homemade vegan cheeze sauce), and their pesto lettuce wraps. I did NOT enjoy the spinach artichoke dip or adult mac n' cheese. The nachos are made with such a lovely homemade cheeze, but the dip and the mac are made with some kind of foul plasticky commercial cheese that tastes awful. Basically everything I've had that did NOT contain commercial cheese has been wonderful. So my recommendation would be simply to avoid those dishes.

The service has always been fantastic at Great Sage and they usually have a great selection of desserts as well. I think it's highly worth a visit as long as you choose carefully from the menu!

Pros: Creative menu, changes seasonally, 100% vegan, Good ambiance and service

Cons: Location - middle of nowhere, Several dishes ruined by commercial cheese sub

Yummy food

Restaurant cozy clean staff nice with knowledge of menu my hibby got blueberry pancakes I got am omelette both dishes were $15 which is little pricey for 2 pancakes after eating I decided to get a smoothie to go I thought it seemed a little light when I picked it up... that's because it was all foam... I went to a little boutique next door while shopping I looked down at my smoothie and realized all the foam settled and the smoothie was the consistency of juice which prob totaled about 6 ounces if that and it was $8 not happy with that at all

Pros: Fresh delicious vegan food

Cons: Expensive and do not get a smoothie or at least a , Least a green one me myself if I was a server I, Wount not bring out a cup of green foam to charge

Our go to dine in vegan restaurant !

We have enjoyed the Great Sage experience many times. The atmosphere is inviting, wait staff knowledgeable, specials of the day are delicious and change with the seasons. The desserts are absolutely out of this world. If you haven’t had the experience, stop depriving yourself!

Pros: All vegan, Made to order dishes, Dessert options that rival non vegan desserts

Cons: Fairly expensive

Only if you like spice

If you like your food spicy you'll love it ...if not you won't. Even when they say oh it's not spicy(cause they have no taste buds) it is. Sad for those who like to taste their food. Not everyone likes spices and black pepper😥 Everything tastes the same...be creative!

Pros: Desserts dont have black pepper yet, Spinach dip doesn"t have spices yet

Cons: Black pepper, spice in every meal

so good

I've been wanting to come here for over a year, and I finally got around to it. The staff was super friendly and the food was amazing! We got the adult vegan mac, which tasted different than what I was expecting but I wasn't mad about it. The chocolate lava cake was to die for though! The whole shopping center is super cute and worth the visit.

Pros: great vibe, good food

Fantastic vegan restaurant

We stopped to eat at Great Sage after visiting the Burleigh Manor animal sanctuary. We got the spinach artichoke dip, which was surprising convincing and delicious. My wife had the adult mac and I had the spanakopita, both dishes were very unique and tasty. Recommend to anyone wanting to try interesting vegan food.

Pros: Unique dishes, Lots of options

Definitely A Favorite

Great food, atmosphere, staff, etc... Am not an urban guy so I am grateful this place isn't in Washington DC or Baltimore; though kinda in the middle of nowhere, haha... And I don't mind paying for a good meal, especially to support smaller vegan businesses, but some things (drinks and dessert for example) are a bit costly; makes an informal simple meal too expensive .

Pros: Fully vegan, Food, Location

Always a winner

This has to be the best or definitely one of the best 💯vegan restaurants in the DMV. Never left disappointed. Has a menu that changes with the
Seasons and always a new delicious chef’s special. Perfect for regular dinning, groups or special occasions. Nestled right between Washington DC and Baltimore — worth the trip‼️

Pros: 100 percent vegan, Large menu, Everything is delicious

You can't go wrong

You literally can not go wrong with anything at great sage. Menu items are seasonal. I don't think it is healthy for our bodies or the environment to consume excessive amounts of imitation meats, BUT if your gonna do it great sage is THE place. My favorites so far have been the beetroot burger, buffalo cauliflower bites, reuben sandwich and they had a homemade "sausage" sandwich with molé sauce and that was amazing. The mac and cheese is always amazing and don't forget to get a cookie on your way out! The first dessert I ever had was the carrot cake and that will forever be my favorite. The chocolate addict inside me craves the chocolate lava cake with coconut ice cream (always coconut ice-cream, never soy (unless your allergic)). I see that they have a pierogi quesadilla on the menu now ... if I was in the Maryland I would be all over that.

The best part is that this is the conscious corner. You know how you should never grocery shop when you are hungry?? Well you can get your bomb great sage meal and then head straight to Roots for your quality groceries!

Pros: Friendly staff, Excellent location , Excellent food

Cons: Lighting (can be quite dark)

One of my favs

This restaurant is fantastic! I wish it were bigger because it’s so popular. Or that they’d open a new location. Their menu is always wonderful. I’ve only have one bad thing from here and that was the cauliflower appetizer, it’s just too soggy. The wine pairings are lovely and right on the money. Coffee after dinner is sublime. The seasonal crisp is one of my go to meals. (It’s expensive, but worth it)

Pros: All vegan!!, Great staff

Cons: Small

Great food, but not a lot to choose from during 3-5pm

Super delicious, but every time we have the opportunity to stop by is during their "lite fare" menu and it's super super disappointing. The first time me and my boyfriend went we were looking at their menu online and thought we'd have so much to choose from, but when we got there we realized we didn't. I would go again if I could make it during their breakfast, brunch, or dinner menu.

Pros: Dessert and meals

Cons: Not many meal options during 3-5pm
