Amazing all vegan gelateria - Edit
The flavours I have tried so far have been great, I couldn't taste any coconut base.
The tiramisu flavour is delicious!
There is a large seating area upstairs for when it does get busy
Pros: All vegan, Extra seating upstairs, Huge selection of flavours

Fantastic - Edit
We have been here on 3 occasions and are always very impressed by the range and taste.I can never go past the pistachio and roasted hazelnut. The taste and texture is as good as dairy without the cruelty or mucus producing effects.I was initially worried about the coconut base as I have had some unsatisfactory coconut ice cream in the past.I am delighted to say I could not taste the coconut.
Pros: All vegan, Non soy, Incredibly authentic in taste and texture
Cons: Can get very busy

Australia's first 100% vegan gelato shop - Edit
This family run gelato shop went completely plant-based in 2016!
Conveniently located on King Street, just a short walk from Newtown train station.
Limited edition flavours and instaworthy sundaes will keep you coming back every time you visit Newtown. Or you could opt for a take home box.
Must try:
- Hazelnut
- Peanut butter
- Carrot cake
- Pavlova
- Choc mint
Pros: Great variety of flavours, Convenient location, Insta-worthy
Cons: None!

Mint choc chip vegan ice cream to die for! - Edit
This place totally took us by surprise - completely vegan but with long queues of people waiting to be served...in Newtown veganism is BIG! Delicious ice creams although the taste of coconut is quite prominent in some of the more delicate flavours. The mint choc chip however was better than the best dairy version we ever tasted! Yummo

The best vegan ice cream on the planet - Edit
Gelato Blue seriously serves the best vegan ice cream you will ever taste. With amazing flavours like raspberry pavlova, sesame halva and peanut butter cornetto...the only problem you will have is choosing which one to have!
Pros: Amazing Flavours , Takeaway boxes
Cons: No cons

omg. soooooo good!!!!!! - Edit
I'm in Sydney for less than a week. Gelato blue was in my shortlist of places to visit. I've now been twice and plan to go again tonight. So many flavours and options and it's so delicious and creamy. I really can't praise it enough (and I'm a massive ice cream snob). Do yourself a favour and get some in you!!!!
Pros: Delicious , So much choice, Lovely staff
Cons: I'll probably dream about this place

Huge variety, huge flavour - Edit
So many options I was shocked. Salted Belgian dark chocolate, roasted pistachio, hokey pokey, rose Turkish delight, salted caramel panna cotta, fresh pineapple, toasted coconut and lime.....20 vegan flavours in total to choose from. And then there's a baked goods cabinet too. Agh!
Pretty standard pricing for ice cream too!
Pros: variety, quality, price

Wonderful Variety - Edit
Was excited to see so many different vegan options! Went with the peanut butter cornetto, lamington and pavlova - all awesome. The pav was my favourite though. Lovely customer service. Also had the dulche de leche cinnamon bun, which had great flavour, but was very dense and dry.

Wil this be Australia's first vegan gelato shop? - Edit
The gelato is good - go there. Now onto more important things:
The sweetest thing about this place is the ever diminishing dairy space in the corner of the display and the increasing vegan selection. (In fact, the dairy space is starting to look like a joke - the same way the "dairy free" sections often do in other gelato shops). The next sweet thing is seeing most people in the shop ordering in front of the vegan section - this place is littered with vegans with a much reduced number of inexorable cattle abusers licking their treats made with the suffering of innocent animals. TBH I'm not sure what's more exciting at Gelato Blue: the extensive vegan flavour selections or just the idea of a gelato shop that is primarily for vegans. There is a different air when going into a "vegan shop" than going into the dark corner where nonvegan shops have their "vegan alternatives;" where the vegan products are their pride and not some thorny concession to the "difficult people." And when plopped down and enjoying your gelato in their laid back seating area upstairs it is so much better knowing that the people around you are similarly licking products made with some consideration for peace rather than the abuse of animals. It's awesome!
However, this shop is not yet vegan. It appears to me that the business case for a vegan gelato shop is pretty much there, and it's probably only a matter of the owners having a good conversation about animal rights and understanding the moral imperative to be vegan themselves before they ditch the dairy altogether. This may be up to us vegan customers to not just be happy gelato consumers but to take a genuine interest in the people who work there and not fail to advocate for animal rights generally and within the context of their shop.
Pros: Tonnes of vegan goodness, and still on the way up

The vegan choices here are absolutely amazing. Tons of baked goods, sundaes, ice cream flavors - just amazing.
Pros: Vegan sundaes

Dope place worth the money - Edit
While the price is something to scoff at, Newtown is renowned for bleeding you dry.
However, I find one cone/tub to be extremely satisfying in both craving and filling. I ordered the vegan coconut and it was delicious, even had coconut flakes in it, and I'm a texture person so that was a nice bonus. My mate ordered the vegan pavlova (which...has pavlova pieces in it...not quite sure how that's vegan but he said it was awesome).
Its in an awesome location, the customer service we got was a little lack luster but we all know what jobs are like and it was towards the end of the day. The gelato is bomb.com and has some awesome flavours like turkish delight, peanut butter and chocolate, cookies and cream! You can bet your ass I'm gonna be back to try them all
Pros: extensive flavour choices, great location, very satisfying
Cons: price...$5 for one serve, nothing else

HEAVEN! - Edit
I have never come across such a large range of vegan gelato's and desserts!
They clearly label whether they are gluten free or not and are kept separate from the dairy ice creams as well.
Keep up the good work guys

Good vegan options - Edit
Not the best gelato (I've tried their dairy ones when I wasn't eating as a vegan) but they do have an entire section got vegans and it's the most extensive one I've seen! I'm sure most vegans are sick of strawberry and lemon sorbet etc.. Well they actually have vegan ice cream with a smooth and creamy texture! I had the salted caramel popcorn, hokey pokey and a strawberry tart flavoured one. There's about 8 gelato flavours from what I can recall, plus they can make a big dessert for you using their brownies, cookies etc (all vegan of course!). There is also a separate section selling vegan treats like salted caramel tarts etc.

try a milkshake! - Edit
I'm visiting from the US and several locals led me here for a legendary soy-based milkshake. My mind is still blown. Vegans here are very lucky!

Looove this place! - Edit
A dedicated vegan section contains more than the usual fruit gelato flavours, including "vegan roché" (a ferero roché -like flavour), peanut butter choc brownie ice-cream, fig, and after-dinner mint. They also sometimes do a special vegan treat (e.g. vegan cornettos, using vegan cream-filled canolis). Too good, and I always leave feeling extremely guilty! The staff are also awesome, smiley and friendly.
Pros: interesting flavours, go out of their way to cater for vegans, friendly staff

Amazingly creative vegan gelato flavours - Edit
You just never cease to be amazed and surprised on a visit to Gelato Blue. Surprised at the new flavours on offer when you were expecting (hoping) for an old favourite. And amazed at their creativity in inventing new awesome flavour combos.
For instance, a couple of weeks ago I had a hankering for my fave choc peanut butter brownie gelato. I was disappointed for a split second that they had not made it that week, until I spied the rocher vegan sorbet. Wow! Now I will be hankering for that one until the next exciting flavour comes along. They sure know how to keep you coming back! In fact, I think I should pop along tomorrow to make sure I don't miss something!
Pros: Amazing vegan gelato, Amazing vegan sorbet, Just simply amazing
