Way too pricey for boring food - Edit
I had the seitan steak with mushroom sauce and couscous. Tasted very mild, like nothing much and the couscous was super basic too. All for 14,50€! The steak was very gooey and soggy and tasted weird. I had to put lots of salt and pepper so it tasted a bit better. My friend had vegan ravioli, that was fine but till for 16€ that was a very small portion and didn’t taste very special or extraordinary.

Food paradise of Funchal - Edit
Found this place in this app. Food paradise for vegetarians/vegans visiting Funchal. There were several options and I chose seitan steak for the main course which came with a bowl of couscous; bolo do caco for starter. Everything was delicious. The waiter was super professional & was an excellent host.

Lots of vegan options clearly labelled. Staff are very friendly, knowledgeable about vegan options and happy to help. We had the stuffed mushrooms to share followed by ravioli and risotto for mains. Couldn't resist a vegan brownie to finish. Definitely recommend this place especially sitting outside in the square.

I visited this restaurant several times during my stay in Funchal. Choice of several vegan dishes. The service was very friendly and helped in choosing dishes to make them suitable for a vegan. A nice place to sit for both a casual and formal lunch or dinner. The restaurant definitely deserves a five star rating.

After reading all of the reviews for Gavino I knew I wanted to try it! There was a lot of vegan choice and the staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Tried the risotto and added mushrooms and peppers and it was lovely very rich and a large portion size.

Auswahl ist okay und Mitarbeiter sind sehr bemüht. Kellner hat von sich aus veganen Butter und veganen Käse vorgeschlagen und hat darauf geachtet, dass auch alles stimmt. Allerdings muss man beim Hamburger aufpassen - das Gericht gleicht eher einem Süßkartoffel-Püree. Hat auch geschmeckt, war allerdings nicht das, was wir erwartet haben. Veganes Risotto war spitze!

Creative vegan cuisine, beautifully decorated with flowers etc. Friendly staff and a nice place to sit outside under a huge tree in front of the church, just a bit apart from the busy restaurants in the old town.

Not only does this place have plenty of vegan dishes, but quite some of the other ones can be veganised as they have vegan butter, cheese, cream, etc. (and the waiters are well aware of what "vegan" is).
