Stunningly Great Brunch/Breakfast - Edit
For Vegans, Breakfast and lunch get left behind or stripped down to basics; We get avocado toast or the occasional tofu scramble. Frutas Prohibidas has decided to provide something more and provide it at an extremely high level.
Read moreThe Eggs Benedict (no matter the style you choose) is a marvel of vegan ingenuity. I was stunned by the texture of the outside. I was stunned again when I cut through it to find the gooey yoke. I've never had anything like it in my life. Paired with the hollandaise sauce, truffle pearls, and parmesan cheese, It becomes the perfectly concocted dish.
We also ordered two drinks: the Red velvet latte (Beet and chocolate) and the blue latte (Spirulina). The red velvet latte has a delicate taste, but the Spirulina was wonderfully sweet and full of flavor.
The sleek, modern decor is comforting and cool. Get there early because the place fills up quickly, watching as multiple groups were turned away within the first half an hour of opening. You will not be disappointed.
Pros: Quality
FrutasProhibidas
Thank you for the stunning review! We’re thrilled that you found our brunch and breakfast offerings to be so exceptional and that our Eggs Benedict impressed you with its texture and gooey yolk. It’s fantastic to hear that the hollandaise sauce, truffle pearls, and Parmesan cheese created a perfectly concocted dish.

Everything good and original - Edit
We had the quesadillas de pollo, the Wevos benedictos with pulled pork, the “alitas BBQ” and la Torrija de Rose. Everything was very yummy and well presented. The staff was very welcoming and helpful, always with a smile. Can’t wait to go back!

Pros: Originality, Tasty, Colourful
Cons: Wish the place was bigger / more spacious , They shouldn’t ask for a review. It’s forced/fake

Beautiful place, avoid the tea (and coffee?) - Edit
Lovely place, the presentation of each dish is absolutely STUNNING. Highlights were definitely the Acai Bowl and the two types of toast that we ordered. The coffee and tea that we ordered were really not good unfortunately...
Read moreDrinks:
Green Tea 3/10 (too burnt)
Americano 6.5/10 (a bit watery)

Alice's Pancakes 7/10 (wonderful cream, but pancakes were cold)
Eastern Toast 9/10 - very fresh, very good

Amazing food but service a bit of a let down - Edit
The food at this place is amazing, having done research before going to Madrid we knew we wanted to go and are glad we did. The eggs Benedict is particularly impressive and it's so cool to have totally unique options on the menu. I doubt I'll ever eat anything like this again.
Read moreThe place is unsurprisingly popular, and extra busy since we went for brunch on Valentines' day. This may be why I did find the service to be a bit of a let down. The restaurant is small, with tables crammed together. The majority of staff were in the kitchen or behind the bar, with very few waiters and I felt that they weren't particularly attentive and we felt rushed because they wanted to get more people in. Also, the drinks we got were not the ones that we asked for, we wish we had the opportunity to try the red velvet lattes. I think the one waitress serving us was being overworked.
There is no physical menu, only a QR code to scan...and the mobile coverage in the restaurant is very poor. I think they could improve by having laminated physical menus that aren't necessarily wasteful.

Pros: Unique food, Beautiful restaurant, Presentation of the food and drinks

Well deserved "best rated" restaurant - Edit
A very beautiful restaurant with friendly staff and a professional setup, including a nice digital menu.
Read moreWe started with the vegan chicken wings, which were very delicious. For the main course, we had the Benedict Egg and the Toast Bacon Sandwich, both beautifully presented, almost like art, and full of flavor.
For dessert, we had the Red Velvet, which was fantastic in taste and not overly sweet.
Overall, a great experience, we would definitely come back!

not as good as it looks - Edit
The food was good, but the visual side seems more polished than the taste. The benedict egg was an experience in itself, but pancakes were rather bland (and cold) and coffee was below average. I still would like to come back anyway, as there are definitely some more things to try.

Cannot believe this is vegan!!! - Edit
I had the eggs Benedict and it was absolutely life changing! I just went vegan about a month ago and I loveddd eggs and these eggs were just incredible! The hummus was also delicious and the fries as well. A little pricy but it was really tasty and worth it to me. Service was also great!

Ok - Edit

Vegan BBQ Wings - Edit
The vibe of the restaurant is super cute and welcoming! I got the BBQ wings which were 11 euros which felt a little pricy for me. They have some really great options that I will surly be trying in the future. I wasn’t the biggest fan of their green tea either.

Creative and Delicious - Edit
I loved everything about Frutas Prohibidas so much - I went twice in my three-day trip in Madrid.
Read moreThe menu is so interesting, I had to try more than one meal. We had lemonade and a flat white (one of the best coffee drinks I had for the entirety of my vacation!!!), the baconator sandwhich (this bacon was tasty!!!), the sodom & gomorrah bowl, and two different benedicts (the “eggs” were WILD!!!!). All of it was the most delicious.
The service was great, everyone was kind and efficient. Also you have to admire a restaurant with so much lore - every menu item tells a story - fun!!
I would say it is a MUST-TRY for vegans (over any other vegan restaurant in Madrid)

Easily the best restaurant I've been to in Madrid, and probably even among my top 5 in Europe. The vegan eggs benedict are a masterclass of both taste and presentation, and everything else I've tried so far (pancakes, cakes, burgers, smoothies) was also top notch.

Has science gone too far? Honestly, wow! - Edit
Visited Frutas Prohibidas with my non-vegan mom, who was not too happy about the 30 minute walk and then climbing a hill on a hot day. We hadn't booked a table and couldn't get one right away upon arrival, so we went for a sangria in the neighbourhood, but once we got the notification that there's a space vacant for us, we rushed back. I had the Benedict of the Promised Land and my mom had the Sodom and Gomorrah bowl, and we each had a Pink Sangria of Lust. Totally worth it. Loved the attention to detail, beginning from the carefully curated names to the perfectly matched looks and flavours of the dishes. Vegan eggs Benedict is such a rarity and this was the jackpot
