all-around awesome - Edit

I absolutely love this chill diner-bar. I'm in town for my sister's wedding, and my boyfriend and I went here for dinner with a friend last night. When the excitement and emotion of the weekend all caught up with me and I broke down at the table, the bartender surprised me with a cocktail on the house. The food was terrific too--I recommend the seitan platter, which comes with a flavorful gravy and rosemary potatoes and cabbage. Had a lovely quick chat with the chef, too.

Pros: kind and attentive service, excellent hearty flavorful food, booze and desserts!

Great Food! - Edit

Everything was delicious! From the buffalo cauliflower dip, the mushroom scampi pasta and the seitan platter as well as the cookie dough cake, we thoroughly enjoyed it all!

We sat at the bar and had fabulous service from the staff.

It was crazy busy after an event in DC and they handled it all with grace and good humor.

We will be back for sure next time we visit!

Pros: good variety, friendly staff, nice atmosphere

Cons: none

Great - Edit

Yum food, great cookies but warning, they say all day breakfast but the kitchen only opens mid morning around 11 or something so don't go before if you want something from the menu. Could only get cabinet food.

Tasty tofu and great service - Edit

Came in before the kitchen opened for breakfast but they knocked up pancakes and tofu scramble- the tastiest scramble I've had in a long while. A great little space and the staff are all happy to answer questions and serve with speed. Will definitely visit again when the full menu is on.

Fantastic! - Edit

Very nice atmosphere with a great variety of choices which are all vegan. Choices range from breakfast items to deserts with main dishes and appetizers as well. A nice selection available at the bar as well including local brew on tap.
Every member of the staff was supremely pleasant and professional and that included Doron who is the owner. My highlight item was the polenta fries. They were supremely tasty even before dipping them into the sauces which were delicious as well.

Pros: Variety of all vegan choices, Options from the bar, Breakfast to dessert, all choices available

Delicious food and friendly staff - Edit

Loved our first visit to Fare Well! Food was delicious and service was fantastic. Staff was very accommodating. Hope to see more items on the menu. Really want to see the fried seitan avail for adults outside dinner. Tons of delicious baked goods to go.

Pros: vegan, delicious

Cons: parking

Yum - Edit

This place has a nice inviting diner vibe. It has a bakery case up front and a bar + a handful of tables for diners in the back.

I ordered the seitan platter, which is like a chicken-fried seitan accompanied with mushroom gravy, sauteed greens, and potatoes. I was a little bit disappointed with the seitan. I thought it would have more of a meaty texture, but the interior ended up breaking apart a bit too easily. That said, it was a satisfying, hearty meal, and the herbs and spices were quite nice.

I would definitely come back again to try something new. Their menu is not super extensive, but everything on it sounds delicious. The hardest part about this meal was choosing between the many wonderful options - burrata, polenta fries, chilaquiles, fritatta, pierogi, and so on and so on.

Plus, they carry a bunch of baked goods - both savory and sweet - that are utterly delicious.

Pros: Great menu items, Good sweets, Nice people

Well thought out food and decor - Edit

Last night was our first time at Fare Well. We were so happy to be there. The food had lots of interesting flavors and was presented well and tasted great. The server couldn't have been nicer. We are sad that he doesn't work Sundays b/c that is the easiest day for us to go out downtown. Though I'm sure everyone else is just as nice and knowledgeable. Of note is the decor. Everywhere you look there is something nice to "look at". Not a trash can, bathroom or dumpster. Even in the back they have made an effort for the folks who sit at the high top to look at plants vs. a dumpster. You can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into this wonderful vegan spot.

Pros: All of the above. We'll be back many times, I can order anything on the menu. It's all vegan , All awesome!

Cons: Can hear the bathroom hand dryer in the restaurant

Delicious - Edit

The food here is great, and similar to NYC restaurants. I love the mushroom pasta. Best vegan restaurant in DC, in my opinion.

Pros: Delicious food, Great service

Cons: Expensive, Some dishes run out if you don't get there early, Closed on Monday and Tuesday

Outstanding - Edit

So happy to have a full service vegan restaurant of this caliber here in DC. I went with 3 others today and we all loved all the food. I had the western omelette and the buffalo dip, and split the key lime pie with my friend. She had the napolean pancakes. Another friend had the french toast and strawberry shortcake for dessert. We all loved our food so much. Abolutely delicious. I can't wait to go back. This place rocks!
Street parking was easy, too

Pros: food, service, serve alcohol

Cons: none

Delicious - Edit

I had fresh-squeezed orange juice, Pancake Napoleon, and key lime pie. The generously-portioned pancakes were heavenly-- light and fluffy while still being hearty. The key lime pie tasted exactly as I remember it from my pre-vegan days. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back!

Pros: excellent food, good value, friendly staff

Cons: none!

Great place! - Edit

We were in DC for two nights and we liked it so much the first night we went back again the next night. Pierogi' s, super duper burger, pasta dishes, pot pie, southern fried seitan with mushroom sauce, and all sorts of other great dishes. And the desserts....the same great cakes she has been serving for years and a brownie hot fudge sundae that you should definitely split with a friend.

Her Sticky Fingers cookbook has been a favorite for years and here she is.

Great restaurant.

Pros: Food , Atmosphere, Desserts

Cons: You may have to wait at peak times but it is worth, Bigger portions of pasta would be nice so everyone

Good Croissants! - Edit

I stopped in to look at the menu. It is a nice place, reasonable prices! The cashier was pleasant. Unfortunately, I was a tad too early for lunch but I was right on time to get something from the bakery. The fennel sausage croissant was delicious. I will be back to sample more good eats.

Pros: clean, reasonable prices, good vibe in the space

Cons: None!

Veganizing H Street - Edit

You know that Sticky Fingers is a force to be reckoned with in DC, so, the bakery-diner-cafe-bar opened by the infamous founders of Sticky Fingers is supposed to be good. It is all vegan. They have Sticky Fingers' cakes and cookies. Ok, so, that's good.

There's a mad bar and a beautiful list of cocktails. There is espresso and vegan lattes. There are soy-milk based milkshakes. There is gluten-laden waffles, Challah-style french toast and pancakes. There is pasta galore. There is some salad. There are burgers and sandwich and dip like entrees and appetizers.

However, it is a tight space. The menu is exciting and marked for wheat free option, nut free, soy free and wheat free. Cool.

Go because it's vegan, but this is DC, not NYC, not CA, not Portland, not Seattle. Proceed with DC expectations, and you will not be disappointed.

Pros: All vegan, Late hours, Menu markings

Cons: So many carbs

Vegan Comfort Food! - Edit

Amazing restaurant with all your comfort food needs! Bakery case includes both sweets and savory, such as vegan croissants, breakfast sandwiches, and stromboli. Breakfast all day includes "chicken" and waffles. Dinner items include fresh pastas, lasagnas, and much more. Great cocktail menu, full bar, coffee, and boozy milkshakes. Very fun modern diner style atmosphere.

Pros: Breakfast all day, Comfort food classics, Cocktail bar

Cons: Large menu difficult to choose from

delicious and long overdue! - Edit

It's hard to believe how few vegan places are in DC. Sticky fingers was always a little haven of wonderful, but they close at 7 and are more of a deli than a restaurant. So when I heard they were opening a proper sit down place, I was excited - so excited that I accidentally went to it twice while it was still being built! Good news is that now it's open, and it's wonderful. We had the eggplant park sandwich and the chicken fried seitan with greens. Both were amazing and well crafted - the vegan mozzarella on the sandwich was perfect! I don't even know how they did it! Anyway- I can't say enough. Just go.

best vegan sit-down restaurant in DC !! and so much more - Edit

No number of stars, nor words, can adequately describe this extraordinarily wonderful new restaurant. Everything about it is perfect. You just have to go. I guess the only slight downside is that the food isnt especially "healthy". Highly recommend the Pierogies and the Burrata starter. this is the long-awaited restaurant opened by the creator of Sticky fingers bakery.
