Vegan drive through - Edit
Evolution is a gem!! I am addicted to their fries. I love the big veggie sandwich and the pesto mozzarella burger. Tip: order online before you go...then, if the drive through line is backing up into the street park and walk in. It’s much faster and avoids a traffic jam :)

Unsure why this place has such glowing reviews? I was really looking forward to it because of what people on the app had to say- but wow save your time and money, go somewhere else! My partner and I ordered the California burrito (3.5/5), Chimichurri Steak Sandwich (3.0/5), Cookies n Cream shake (2.0/5) and the chili cheese fries (3.0/5). Nothing special about either of them. The Steak Sandwich and Chili cheese fries basically taste the exact same... I’ve been vegan for over 3 years and I really don’t recommend this place!

The cheeseburger was great (and HUGE), my only issue was with the tempeh "bacon"-- it did not taste like or resemble bacon in any way so I just wouldn't even advertise it as such. The cheddar bacon ranch fries were very very tasty, just would have preferred a cheesy sauce over melted cheese (as the cheese had dried into one giant mass by the time we got home to eat it). Overall excellent, inventive place. Wish we had one in my hometown so I could eat here more often!

bf was excited then quickly disappointed in his california burrito which had an overwhelming chili flavor in it. might have been an off day for the food but the girl in the front wasn’t very welcoming & clearly didn’t want to be there. normally with all that I wouldn’t come back with all the other delicious options in SD but I feel we didn’t give them a fair shot when we got burritos instead of burgers which they seem to be more known for. plus I always wanna support 100% vegan places so we will see how next time goes !

We have SD Zoo passes and every time we go we stop at Evolution. My meat eating family members don't miss out on anything here. There's a wait but average for vegan fast food. They have several "meat choices" for their burgers, they have a spicy chicken that sho' nuff is spicy, and a HUGE California Burrito.

So jealous they don't have a place like this near home. Not only do they have delicious, vegan food but it's extremely convenient with a drive-thru. Once again Happy Cow came through with a great recommendation. I frequently come to San Diego for business and Happy Cow has been a godsend! I had the tempeh mushroom burger, fries and a strawberry shake. The burger was juicy, flavorful and chock full of mushrooms. The fries were good and the shake was exceptional! I will definitely be coming back to try something new.

Stopped by for the first time and got dinner for a quick picnic at Balboa Park. Had the California Burrito, BLT and fries. Everything was good. Swung back through the drive thru for some soft serve on the way home. The vanilla taste like cake batter and the chocolate taste like a fudgesicale.

The Fuego burger is a satisfying combination of just the right amount of spice and creamy cheese sauce. The tempeh patty is amazing with this and ordering it as a lettuce wrap helps cool the heat. The animal fries are exactly what you want them to be. Just like the fries you get at the classic fast food places, but with a vegan twist. Caramelized onions, special sauce, crispy fries, what's not to love?

my favorite item I’ve tried are the bacon ranch fries bc they were fantastic!! if you love ranch like I do then you will def enjoy that dish. also their ranch tastes so good 😭 i was able to try the beef burger as well as the tempeh burger and they both were different but enjoyable (I’m used to impossible and beyond burgers and I believe evolution makes all of their meat, I could be wrong). I’m not a huge fan of the chicken but they def aren’t bad, I just prefer the burgers. I would definitely go here if you have the chance because you won’t regret it

The burgers and sandwiches at Evolution Fast Food are delicious and well made. The ingredients are fresh and the variety is big. They offer different meatless options like *chicken*, *beef* but also a bean based version. They even offer *bacon*. Also the packaging is clean and simple. An overall delicious experience.

This was the first stop after we landed in San Diego and it was well worth it. Great portion size kids shared a chicken strips. Rachel had a burger and I did the Carne asada street tacos which may have changed my life for the better, or they were just really good. Kids and I had milkshakes which were delicious.

This place is just okay. I haven’t been to this place in over a year and I realized that it wasn’t that great. The burgers are just okay. The service is pretty slow. However, the California burrito is pretty good. But, many better vegan restaurants around.
