If you've never had rasta pasta, this is the place to get it, it is by far one of my favorite pasta now. The Mac n cheese was delicious as well. Unfortunately the banana pudding was sold out, that's what I was looking forward to the most. The wait was rather long, but well worth it.

Rastalicious - Edit
Went back twice and ordered a lot to try it out, people are not wrong about the Rasta Pasta, it's great but you might miss it if you go later. When I was there they had another popup inside, so I got to try some really good sushi too. Honestly, of the places I tried in the area, this was my favorite for flavors and options.

Ordered Desmond's online and got the "crab" cakes. I wasn't a fan. Was hoping it would taste like seafood even a little but it didn't. The remoulade sauce was good though. Maybe I just didn't make a good choice ?

new plant based eaters should try!! - Edit
We used the app to help us find this gem. EVERYTHING was outstanding!!!!The staff and owner are passionate about the food and lifestyle and is evidenced by the depth of flavor in their food. We tried the jerk jackfruit, Krabcakes and Rasta pasta, the chef recommended complimentary sides which were perfection. We will be back again.

Desmond’s Island Soul Grill was very good. We loved that it is black owned! I’d been missing Caribbean cuisine since becoming vegan and this really hit the spot!

All I can say is WOW! - Edit
Now Desmond’s isn’t your average vegan restaurants. This place takes vegan junk/comport food & enhances it with a Caribbean, Soulful twist! You can literally smell the freshness & goodness as soon as you walk into the restaurant!

Vegan heaven - Edit
While traveling stopped in to grab a late lunch. Has only take out now. Loved it so much, returned the next day. First day my co-worker and I both got the 3 sides meal. Both days I got the collards and mac and chez. I got chana on day 1, loved it. Got the chow mein day two, not a fan. Owned by a female military vet. Super friendly staff. Food prep was quick. Decent portions for the price. Glad they are open on a Monday! We sat outside in the heat our first day. Second day I saw folks sitting outside and before the left they came in to gush about how much they loved the food. Would eat here all the time if I lived nearby.

Must try!!!! - Edit
Best vegan food I have had in the area hands down. The pictures on here dont look all that but trust the flavor and taste is like no other! Google does have some better pics. The mac and cheese and rasta pasta are some of the best I have had in all the years i have been vegan. The tropical punch and 50/50 tasted amazing. Truly a authentuc island soul food experience.

Delicious and friendly service - Edit
I enjoyed the jerk jackfruit with yellow rice and collard greens. My husband had the crab cakes with plantains and mac and cheese. It was all good but the portions were large for us and a little spicy (We can’t handle much spice.) The service was friendly. I would definitely go back to try other dishes next time I am in town.

So much flavor! - Edit
Loved the selection of vegan Caribbean dishes! I had been craving mac n cheese and loved Desmond's version, it was so flavorful and had the perfect kick! My partner got a plantain jackfruit and cheese arepa and said it was the best arepa he ever had, vegan or non-vegan. We shared the Krabcakes entree with the delicious mac n cheese and equally delicious callaloo rundown (spinach cooked with coconut and beans) sides. I wish we had tried the remoulade for the Krabcakes, I imagine it would've been delicious but didn't come with the entree maybe, just the sandwich.

Yellow rice was amazing - Edit
Out of town visitor and found this place. The yellow rice was amazing actually the best I’ve had. The Mac and cheese was good also. However the Krab cakes was good in size but not that good after about 4 bites. All in all I would try them again.

A common complaint of vegan restaurants is that the food lacks flavor. This place was the total opposite. Everything was incredibly flavorful and delicious. The strawberry banana pudding was 10/10 highly recommend you try it.

My partner and I ate at Desmond's Island Soul Grill last summer (2021) on a short vacation to Williamsburg and Virginia Beach, and let me tell you - we STILL talk about how delicious it was. I remember the jerk mushroom sandwich, the collards, and the plantain like it was yesterday. SO scrumptious, I wish I lived here!

It was ok - Edit
My husband had the Roti Curry and I had the BBQ Jackfruit with Plantains and Running Callalou (they were out of 3 dishes that I wanted). My husband & I thought the Roti (bread) was absolutely delicious, the rest of what we ordered didn’t taste fresh but we went at 7 pm & they closed at 8. I thought the BBQ Jackfruit had too much BBQ sauce, I didn’t like the Running Callalou and the plantains were ok. The service was nothing special, and the menu wasn’t very descriptive.
