Glad there's a vegan stand!

I bought the cheesecake and it was really delicious. The other pastries without the cream are a bit drier but I still recommend the place, especially since there aren't many vegan options.

Tasty cake, friendly staff, but no tables

We had the chestnut and chocolate cake and the chocolate scone. Everything was delicious but unfortunately there are no tables, so it's take out only. The person who works there is very friendly but doesn't speak any English, so communication can be a bit difficult.

Nice little baked good store

Located on B2 of the Mitsukoshi department store, Chat has a small variety of cakes, cookies, scones, and other baked treats. Staff is very friendly. Some seasonal items are available too. Try the lemon tart if they have it! Items are also gluten-free for the most part.

Just okay

Chat is an all-vegan pâtisserie counter located in the food floor of Sapporo's Mitsukoshi department store. We picked up their Mont Blanc cake and tiramisu to enjoy later. I was really looking forward to trying them, but unfortunately I found both to be a bit quite underwhelming in flavor.

Worth the trip if you’re in the area

The desserts are visually beautiful. Scone I had was a bit dry, but I guess that’s expected since it’s GF as well. Overall happy I stopped here to get some treats during my visit. Reasonably priced.

Pros: Variety, Easy to order, Reasonably priced

The fruit cakes are a must

Stand in basement of department Store (2 levels down).

The raspberry cake and fruit cake were both standouts. Very moist buttery cake, not overly sweet cream, well balanced by the sourness of fruit. Definitely 5 star just for these.

The non fruit pies I tried (chestnut, matcha, scones) were tasty but overly dry for my personal taste.

High End Treats

This is a fancy little place in one of the many fancy department stores of Japan. It caters towards someone looking to bring a nice gift to someone, it seems. I tried each of the pies and some of the muffins. Nothing is super sweet, more on the savory side. The muffins are hearty and dense (great for a breakfast). The pies could have been sweeter, but the fruit was excellent. I miss the gluten sometimes. I just read another review that mentioned honey, so be sure to ask, I did not notice this while I was there. I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice treat for themselves or a friend. Incredibly friendly service!

Would still recommend it

I give the bakery 2 stars for the variety of cakes and 1 for the chocolate scone (too dry and no chocolate pieces) and white creamy cake (non flavor in it)

Pros: Selection was good, Looks good, English menu

Not all vegan!

Some products contain honey, and it's not clearly marked. they even sell honey.

a tiny vegan outpost

you can find chat down in the basement (B2) of this upscale department store in sapporo. i stumbled upon on accident and excitedly bought two scones and three or four packaged goods. part of me (the American?) wished they were a little sweeter. but most of me appreciated that they weren't full of sugar and less healthy as a result. try it!

Pros: all vegan

Cons: i wouldn't call it delicious.
