veggie vibes

the above reviews says it all. anyone with the slighest interest in knowing more about vegetarianism (veganism) in thailand and asia should visit this place. The Santi Asoke people have a serving and self reliable attitude, many of their published books are about building your own house (like a straw house, very cool !!) and growing your own organic veggies , mushrooms, etc.

Eating like a local - recommended experience when visiting Chatuchak market

PLEASE NOTE: Come early! We arrived by 12.30, and quite many stalls had already sold out.

We came here from the market and were not sure we are on the right track at first - as one needs to step through a hole in a fence and walk over a parking lot first (I uploaded a pic for reference).

Right at the entrance, one needs to swap money for vouchers. You can swap 50 or 100 Baht, but don't worry, if you don't use it up, you can swap the remainder back at the end. We spent 150 Baht for us two, and were pretty full afterwards.

We got some fried noodles, glass noodles, mock meats, tofu skin and turnip cakes - all of which were cheap and tasty (wouldn't say the best food I ever had, but considering how cheap they wear, definitely five stars).

There is also one stall that sells vegan pizza (which is not as cheap as the other stuff) in case somebody yearns for Western food.

Pros: Large choice, cheap, nice experience / very "local"

Cons: (bathroom) hygiene improvable

variety and value

Surely this place can't be beaten on price when it comes to vegan food in Bangkok. I changed 100 THB (less than 5 AUD) to coupons and found it difficult to spend it all!

I tried the khao soi, fried chicken, a mushroom curry puff, and took some crispy soy meat snacks home for later. The khao soi was less creamy but more aromatic than the ones I had tried in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. The fried chicken tasted like it might have been made from frozen tofu, with exceptional texture and flavour. It came with a zesty, citrus and herb dipping sauce and the customary clear refreshing soup. The snacks were super tasty too.

The atmosphere reminded me of Blue Boy in KL or hawker food centres in Singapore. Definitely recommend visiting, especially if you're shopping at Chatachuk or Bang Sue Junction. Get there early if you go on market days though. We arrived around midday on a Saturday and lots of dishes were selling out.

Awesome local vegan spot with plenty of options

We came to the market before heading to channel 7 for the Muay Thai events held Sunday afternoons. This place was a lucky find that made our day. There's even a pizza oven with vegan pizza on offer!
Admittedly, we went for local dishes and ate way too much because it was so cheap and tasty.
Little English is spoken, but it was not too difficult to get what we wanted, and friendly locals are always happy to assist if needs be.
We will come back for sure and we cannot recommend this place enough.
Can't wait to get more fried "chicken". (We came back, and it was awesome!)
A local authentic and delicious spot!

Pros: Local food and local feel , So many vegan things to try, The fried "chicken"

Cons: A bit hard to find, Little English spoken (not a big deal), Must get coupons to pay for food

Such a great find

What a hidden gem. I can’t believe I haven’t been here before!

It’s basically all vegan apart from the pizza stand it seems.

The locals told me it’s all run by volunteers to try and get people to eat vegetarian/vegan.

I spent less than £3 on 5 courses and fruit. Lots of choice, healthy and some fried foods.

If I’m ever back in Bangkok this is the first place I’m going!

You just have to exchange cash at the counter for vouchers, any unspent vouchers you can return for cash. Very simple and easy.

Pros: Lots of variety , Very cheap

My favourite place in Bangkok

So much choice! I was told that everything is vegan. Very tasty food, at great prices. If you don't want spicy food, it can be tricky to get that message across to some vendors. I like that there are no non-vegan vendors anywhere nearby, so no nasty smells or sights.

Pros: Food!, Price!

‘Pit noi’ means little spicy btw ☺️

After googling it, I'm not sure that "pit noi" means little spicy. "Nit noi" means a little but "ped" means spicy. I've been told to say "mai ped" if you don't want spicy food.

Great food

We came on market day (Saturday) an hour before it closed. Really wish we'd come earlier so there was more options. What we had was lovely though and was all vegetarian when we asked. The veggie health food shop was really good as well. Absolute bargain as well, would go back if we were here longer.

Pros: Taste of food, Cost

Affordable and good

Near the big weekend market. You have to pay at the counter to get coupons. The food was good and I‘d like to come back and try other stuff since it‘s so affordable. A bit hard to know what‘s inside some dishes.

Amazing food

So cheap and so good! I love the food here
I had the best Khao Soi for 30 thb
It’s so good
You can just spend time here eating tons of food

Unfortunately my fav food stall - the one with many different dishes to choose from always charges me differently. First time 30thb for 3 dishes then 35 now 40- always pointing out three dishes.

Tofu schnitzel price clearly marked with 20 - so good
Also the skewer with soy are great 10 each.

Pros: Soy skewer , Schnitzel

Cons: Different prices every time I go

good food

When you come to this food court, you have to exchange your money for tickets. These you can use in exchange for food. That was easy enough, but ordering was a bit of a challenge. There were things I wanted but no one near them to order, and it was a bit chaotic.

If I spoke thai i’m sure it would be better. The papaya salad I got was really good and tasty. Perfect amount of spice. The other things were just so-so. I would go back to try other things.

Another thing to note was there were no napkins there and I really needed some when my nose was running from the spice ahah. Would definitely bring my own next time.

There’s also some non vegan food places connected to this so be mindful. There’s a shop there too that has mostly vegan stuff but wasn’t sure about all of it. I got some nice snacks there.

Veg Heaven

A food court featuring 10 or so vendors. You have to exchange Thai currency for tokens in the veg grocers—not a big deal.

It was closing when I arrived so there were only a few options left. They are very budget friendly and one of the two was delicious.

Best authentic vegan Thai food

Most amazing vegan Thai food we had so far, if we were here for longer we would go everyday. So much choice and so many amazing things to choose from. There’s a cute vegan supermarket next to the restaurant too. The passion fruit and carrot juice were amazing. Each plate costs 50 BAHT and bowls cost 35 BAHT.

Super yummy

We went here two times and totally love it. So many different meals and you can choose right in front of the table what you want.

Don’t come too late, then not everything is available anymore. But this is also nice so they don’t waste too much food.

Pros: A lit of vegan meals, Yummy, Cheap

Cons: Don’t come too late

Simply delicious

Went here for lunch after shopping at Chatuchak weekend market. You have to cross the street to get there but it’s easy to find the stall as long as you follow the map. You need to buy a coupon first in order to order food there; if the dish price doesn’t meet what you pay for the coupon, you’ll get the refund at the cashier later.
Everything is written in Thai so it’s challenging to see what they have on their menu… but people were kind enough to tell you. Pad Thai noodle we ordered was 30 baht each.

Vegan Community

Awesome place, a lot of different varieties of Jay food. I lived about a year close by and whenever I could I went there to eat.
Definitely one of the best places in Bangkok.
The store and the cafe nearby are also great.
Just be aware of the opening hours.
You need to buy vouchers near the entrance first to get food. You can return unused vouchers.
One meal is normally around 30 baht.

Pros: Big variety of vegan food , Salad, Cheap
