Greasier than their sister in Newtown - Edit
Still offering the ever delicious and fulfilling buffet style lunch and dinner for a cheap price, this place is unbeatable for its pocket and tummy friendliness. However, compared to the other BL store in Newtown, this one has greasier food and no dessert/mini fridge options. Though not surprising since it is in a foodcourt.
Read moreMy recommendation would be 2 sides (1 wet/soupy, 1 fried/dry) rice. Its already fulfilling.
Anyway, love this joint and will be back!
Pros: Affordable, strategic location, delicious
Cons: Greasy

Still open after COVID lockdowns - Edit
Thank you Happy Cow and Happy Cow reviewers for helping me to find this great place tucked away in a basement food court. Great variety of delicious vegan food served with a lovely smile and at a great price. The food court is looking very quiet with many stalls shut (because of the effect of lockdowns?) so please visit and support this business.

Excellent food and even better value - Edit
I ate lunch here with a friend, the quality of food is great and especially so for the price! The food court atmosphere takes me back to eating in Hong Kong. Definite recommendation if you're in the area and looking for a meal.

Too oily - Edit
Great vegan options to choose from but almost every plate ends up a sea of oil after the food is eaten which drips with oil regardless which of the several chefs prepare it. Usually very nice tasting well proportioned meals but i suspect the good flavour is due to the excessive oil which defeats the purpose of being on a healthy plant based diet if you're trying to avoid clogging your arteries.
Read morePros: Plenty of vegan soup and meal options
Cons: Far too oily, If they do use whey then its not really vegan!

Must go - Edit
Not the cutest and most beautiful restaurant in town but definitely worth going! It's typical Asian veggie food. Buffetstyle place with a big a la carte menu as well. The woman who works here is lovely! Try the lemongrass dish from the buffet! Its amaaaazingggg!

Great service and food - Edit
I went here with my husband while we were visiting the city. It was somewhat difficult to find as we didn't realize at first it was inside of a food court but I'm glad we did! The place did not have the steamed BBQ buns I wanted to order nor rice ready but the owner(?) was very kind and apologetic. She replaced my rice with noodles and even offered to give me more noodles for free with my take away. I got the "pork" and Chinese broccoli and my husband got the "duck" salad. The food wasn't that different from other vegan Chinese/Thai dishes I've had in the past but still tasty nonetheless.

Edit: Dixon House has rats - Edit
Dixon house as a whole has really gone downhill making this place very uncomfortable.
Read morePrevious review:
Not every place can be a five-star affair, and what I love about this place is how firmly it doesn't even try to be one. It couldn't be anyway! Located in the dingy confines of the Dixon House food court, it was always going to be a grungy affair, something disreputable. It was always going to be, at best, a greasy little comfort spot.
And it hits that benchmark out of the park.
Filled with processed food at every turn, mock-meats and greasy noodles, the food here is about as subtle as a punch to the face — Flavours go right past bold into fierce territory. There's a wonderful variety in the forms of food: Curries dripping with sauce compete with chewy crispy soy strips and fatty-feeling mock-duck. Better yet, you can grab all three for ten little bucks and toss it all onto a place of slightly-too-oily noodles.
I get why some people aren't going to like this place. It ain't no fine dining experience. Hell, it isn't even in the mild but inoffensive cafe camp. It's concertedly cheap comfort cuisine.
And when that's what you need, there ain't none better at it than the Lotus.

A Go-To - Edit
One of the very few veggie friendly options in Sydney, this little gem tucked away in Dixon House is amazing. While a little hard to find at first, it is now my go-to in Sydney for cheap and tasty vegan food.

Guys, if you’re in Sydney you need to come here! Best vegan Thai cheap dishes, big portions and super tasty! I had the pad Thai with soy crisps and definitely don’t regret my choice! So good! And it’s right in the centre of Chinatown :)
