Nice food, loud atmosphere

I had battered gherkins, which were SO yummy with the mustard mayo! Also had the Beelzebab doner kebab pitta. A large pitta, with loads of kebab meat in, however it was labelled as coming with veggies inside but came with just a small amount of lettuce, tomato, and red cabbage. There was no cabbage or spicy sauce till I got right to the bottom of the pitta, and it was a bit much without the meat so didn't finish it. A bit disappointed, but it was tasty meat.

I like a pub, but this wasn't really the venue for me, cool interior but quite loud screamo music which is not very relaxing for a lunch time. Nice friendly staff. Sorry to have to say a few negative things.

Pros: The battered gherkins!, Tasty doner meat

Cons: Loud music

Good food but a bit pricey for what you get

Had the norm hot dog with onion rings (5 onion rings for 3£ extra, ouch) and the battered gherkins.

Something for everyone

Cool bar with lots of vegan options for sausages, chicken wings, gyro, and kebab. We tried the kebab and the gyro—both were decent in size, fairly priced, and tasted alright. That said, as with much of British cuisine, the flavors were a bit too mild for my liking.

The bar itself has a great vibe, with cool music, a DJ in the evenings, good beer, and friendly staff. There’s plenty of seating, at least early on. We arrived around 6 PM and easily found a table, but by 7 it was nearly packed—so plan accordingly.

If you’re into kebab or gyro, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Slaps

Found inside the Hope & Ruin pub (which is a great little spot for a pint) with a strong menu. Kebabs, hot dogs and loaded fries on offer along with small “pub grub” type plates. I went for the Currywurst and was left very satisfied

hits every time

i mostly order the munchies box but all the food (other than the hot dogs, haven’t tried them) is incredible, portions are all massive, can get a bit busy but i reckon that’s a good sign!

Great loaded fries

We had a selection of the sides and all were very tasty. The loaded fries in particular were delicious, the cheese was very convincing.

Great comfort food

Wings are especially delish, quality can be slightly hit and miss, always tasty but sometimes it's perfect and crispy and sometimes it can be a little soggy/oily. Still love this place though

Never misses!

Beelzebab at the Hope and Ruin is one of my go to's in Brighton. A cool pub with good drinks and a fantastic all vegan junk food menu! The chilli cheese dog, fries a go-go and pengest poppers are my personal favourites. Plus they're on delivery too for when you're feeling lazy!

Vegan doner 😋

I had the loaded fries "meat n chips" which was chips covered in seitan doner and chilli sauce. Delicious and good value for money too. Good atmosphere in the bar they are based in (especially if you like rock music)

Pros: Caravan in a pub - what more could you ask for?

Simple, tasty junk food

Based within a quirky pub (The Hope & Ruin), Beelzebab serves diner style junk food.
Prices are great, and the food tasted good, but was very simple. The currywurst loaded fries is literally just sliced sausage on fries with curry sauce. A bit more creativity could have improved it, but what it is is still well worth trying if you just want a good hotdog. Especially if you want it with a pint of beer!

Topnotch.

Many things I love about this venue, vegan hit dogs and kebabs, a great range of beers and friendly staff. Alternative vibe and live music venue upstairs. Busy in evenings but pleasantly peaceful in the day.

Vegan junk food inside pub

All vegan Food outlet within the pub. Serves mainly hot dogs, kebabs and chips. The kitchen is in a quirky caravan. I had the 'Norm' hot dog with a side of chips. My friend had cheesy chips. The hot dog was ok, nothing special, and the portion of cheesy chips was quite small. Service was quick, and it filled a hole before going to a gig upstairs. I would eat here again for the convenient location and nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly.

Beelzebab Belly Busting at Hope & Ruin

A long standing Brighton pub, the Hope & Ruin is centrally located in the city, providing 666% vegan food and booze in a vibrant arena of kitsch memorabilia and music. Beelzebab has been fulfilling the menu for 10 years now, with all foods of comfort; from hot dogs to kebabs, loaded fries and tater tots to brownies and cake. Junk food at its best with handmade seitan and fries loaded with a choice of toppings, all demanding to be ordered and greedily gobbled up. Portions are generous and we happily shared a Beelzebab kebab (only because this was our second lunch of the day!). Sparkling water and a glass of the house red wine were our refreshments of choice, served up by lovely people to 2 hungry vegans on a wet and miserable Monday afternoon. Perfect!

Tasty junk food

Very heavy as obviously it's junk food but still worth it as an occasional guilty pleasure. I was particularly impressed with the KFC style chicken drumsticks - super tasty😋
