I stayed at Beck Hall for a week in August 2026 and it was an amazing vegan experience. The food and dining experience was superb as well. It's a dog friendly dining room so there were super cute and well behaved doggie guests at every meal.

Great 2 night stay and so refreshing to have a choice of everything on the menu which is a novelty. The food was all quite varied and scrumpy- especially loved the sausage rolls and cream with the scones. Great to know all of the wines were vegan. Staff were great and the snuggery was great to relax after a long walk around a stunning landscape.

Spend here about a week last year with my family so it's safe to say i tasted almost every food item they offered at the time (including the afternoon tea) - everything was so so delicious, i cannot stress this enough.

The hotel in general is also located in a just beautiful area and their stream-side restaurant greatly benefits from that. But also the interior is decorated so thoughtfully and beautifully, I was immediately in love.
The prices are reasonable and definitely worth it.

I really wanted to love the food at Beck Hall and was expecting to based on others' reviews (and the prices) but unfortunately my partner and I were underwhelmed. We have been vegan for over 20 years so we've eaten at a lot of vegan restaurants and this one didn't live up to the precedent set by many of those.
Read moreThe staff were lovely and helpful and the restaurant itself was very nice. We enjoyed the desserts very much but the mains - for us, at least - were lacking. My partner opted for the banana blossom and it was bland, soggy and stringy. I really don't understand the fascination with banana blossom at the moment! I had the thali which felt small/limited for the price of £22 and under-flavoured. It was like eating at a regular chain pub that has a few vegan options. It just didn't feel like the person cooking cared very much about the food.
We also had the afternoon tea earlier in the day as it was my birthday and, again, it was disappointing. There were two types of sandwiches - one I think was shop-bought cream cheese and salad (not very imaginative or flavoursome) and the other was chickpea tuna I think (tasty but sparse). The cakes had been taken straight out of the refrigerator that was displayed on the bar, so they were very cold and didn't feel special. One of them was a piece of seeded flapjack, which seemed like the sort of thing that vegans get given by non-vegans as an afterthought. The scones were huge, didn't seem fresh, and tasted of baking powder. The cream was a bit odd (crumbly and sour) but OK. It wasn't an awful experience by any means but it just felt like it lacked care, imagination and thought.
I don't like to leave negative reviews but I wanted to be honest because I genuinely think they could improve and be great with a little more thought and a few tweaks.
And, as I mentioned already, the desserts were great. The restaurant (and hotel) is in a very pretty setting and well worth visiting if you are going to be in the area.

Really enjoyed our stay. Great to be anywhere with so much vegan choice for every meal. Stayed in the hotel, there were a few vegan truffles by the kettle - also nice. Plenty of beer, wine, cocktails, including non-alcoholic options for all three.

We booked a 3 night stay and for the most part we enjoyed ourselves. Firstly it Beck Hall was tricky to find and we ended up dragging our cases across the car park, down the lane and across a narrow footbridge, this was in the summer, I would imagine it more challenging in the winter! We were disappointed with the size of our room (10) for the lack of storage especially in the bathroom, and our towels never dried out, we didn’t want new ones for sustainable reasons, but again during the winter it would be worse.

The food in the main was good, but the menu didn’t change and our 3 night stay meant we felt a bit limited with the menu choices. But a huge positive for fully vegan menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner! The star of the show was definitely the cream tea, lovely warm scones, delicious jam and thick cream, such a treat!
The lounge which was for hotel guests only was awkward to sit 4 people, and as we were a group of four it was difficult to find a cosy place to sit for pre and post dinner drinks.
Disappointed at the lack of barista coffee at breakfast, only filter coffee and tea available. The scrambled tofu was bland in both look and taste, such a shame for a basic vegan food.
It was wonderful to be in a completely vegan environment! But we felt the decor of our room and the b&b part of the building lacking in thought and care, especially with nothing to highlight a vegan lifestyle.
Personally as a vegan who is allergic to animal fur I found it at times uncomfortable with all the dogs in the restaurant, but as a vegan it is lovely to see the engagement that other residents and diners had towards the pets.
Sadly I don’t think we would return. It was great to experience Beck Hall and the wonderful area with all it has to offer but I feel some care and attention would be needed for us to make another trip.

Great afternoon cream tea and lovely all round - Edit
We didn’t stay overnight at Beck Hall, but just popped in to eat (we had booked an afternoon cream tea a couple of days before) and the expercience was incredible. The food was delicious (we had dishes from the lunch menu as well), the staff were super-friendly, the atmosphere was great (it’s always different in all-vegan settings, isn’t it?) and the surroundings were just stunning. What I found remarkable: There is unlimited coffee or tea with the cream tea and I chose coffee and aasumed that would just mean the same black coffee + plant milk when I wanted refills. Instead, I could choose from the coffee menu and had different drinks – a latte, a cappuccino etc.!

Beautiful riverside setting with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The staff were friendly, and the vegan food was absolutely delicious with plenty of choice. Everything was fresh and flavourful. We'd definitely return and highly recommend Beck Hall to anyone visiting the Yorkshire Dales!

We loved our Sunday lunch and felt so welcomed. I had the organic wine flight, roast with mushroom wellington, and cream tea with a huge fruit scone! Everything was so fresh and lovingly prepared. They're very welcoming of dogs, and even brought my dog a bed to sit on, along with a treat! So much I want to try so I will have to go back!

I spent five nights here and ate breakfast and dinner every day plus the afternoon tea and Sunday roast. It was such a dream to have delicious and reliable vegan food while getting to explore the Yorkshire Dales! The restaurant was the star of the hotel. I would not call it a vegan hotel, but a plant-based restaurant with rooms that you can crash in. The housekeeping was inconsistent and incomplete and there is no concierge or desk staff to speak of, the wait staff of the restaurant also deal with check in and check out. The food is great, and there is an emphasis on plant-based meats rather than vegetables, although some plants came from the on-site garden. The restaurant was lovely and decadent but the hotel was not a luxury experience.

Food was great, great tasting with some varied options, non vegans would be completely happy with the food. We missed lunch even with walking as the breakfast saw us through to the substantial evening meal.

On our recent visit we tried the roast dinner with the Wellington. The trimmings around the centre piece were wonderful but the Wellington was stuffed with watery mushrooms and nothing else as far as I could make out. One of our party couldn’t finish it. Maybe others have had a more positive experience?
We’ve had the roast dinner on a previous occasion and didn’t really like the substitute meat. This though is subjective as on our recent visit one of our party loved the seitan.
Desserts were lovely but another of our party found plastic wrapping within!
On the whole it’s a great venue with wonderful surroundings- a short walk to Malham Cove.
We’ll be back despite the few niggles.
The banana blossom fish and chips is my current favourite!

We stayed here for 3 nights. It's a bit of effort to get to without a car but very doable with planning (train to Skipton and infrequent bus to Malham).

There are some nice walks in the area.

Amazing afternoon tea - Edit
I've wanted to visit Beck Hall for a long time and finally managed to. It was worth the wait. We had a wonderful afternoon tea (chocolate ganache and vegan cream were particular highlights). The weather was good and we're lucky enough to sit next to the river and watch herons and ducks. We came for Beck Hall but the location was incredible and walking time is well worth factoring in on your visit.
