Lovely lunch stop - Edit
Great little lunch stop, such a variety of different vegan food, only thing I’m marking down on is the serving size; for the chickpea ‘tuna’ and jacket potato I was still a bit hungry after. Lush tho and well worth a visit!

Mother's Day (Sat) lunch - Edit
Absolutely fantastic service, food and atmosphere. Have been wanting to go here for a while now and the wait was absolutely worth it. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is absolutely amazing. Don't be put off by the negative reviews about the car park. Yes it may only be for the hotel guests but the short walk from the village car park really isn't an issue. Again, absolutely stunning. Will definitely be back very soon! Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Beck Hall.

You should book! - Edit
Idyllic streamside vegan paradise. This hotel / restaurant offers vegans & dog lovers the most delicious menu options. From breakfast, afternoon /"cream tea" Irish coffees, sunday lunch, gorgeous dinner options - we had asian style banana blossom & chips, silence inducing desserts we had pomegranate & rose mess one night & lemon chia cheesecake the next during our 2 nights dinner bed & breakfast stay. Great wine list & delicious local ale. The only problem was, we couldn t stay for longer. The staff are so warm, service is perfect, great value for money. Highly recommended beautiful place

Nowhere to park - Edit
We booked a table but there was nowhere to park, other than their hotel car park that has a barrier. We rang and informed them that we had driven 1.5hrs to get there & then spent over a hour trying to find a place to park. They wouldn’t let us park on their car park, even though it had lots of free spaces, as we were not staying overnight. They offered no alternative to us, so we had to cancel. Given the location (out in the sticks, only accessible by car) they need to ensure there is enough parking for restaurant users. We go out of our way to support vegan businesses, they need to support their customers too. Very disappointing.

Pros: Its fully vegan
Cons: No parking for restaurant, only hotel guests , Limited or no parking nearby, Out in the sticks, so difficult to get to
jayhay23
"Out in the sticks"? It's in a beautiful national park setting, 10 mins walk away from a geological feature of international importance 🤣

Yes its in a beautiful location. The nearest train station is 7 miles away so difficult to travel to on public transport, especially for people with disabilities. If there is limited or no parking what is your suggestion for access?
Read moreHelenSewell
There is a car park near the national park gift shop a few mins down the road and a lot of people parked on the side of the road near it when that was full. If you are going for food in the evening, the car park should be relatively empty as a lot of the day walkers are gone by then. Hope that helps!

Thanks, when we arrived all of the neighbouring car parks were full and no space to park on the side of the road. The only car park with spaces was Beck Hall and they refused to let us park there even though we had a booking.

I've been to Malham 100 times and even at its busiest I've been able to park somewhere - every time.

A small village with 120 parking places, 2 overflow fields for 200 cars and in road parking.
Your review was in Feb, there is zero chance that there wasn't a single place to park in 1 hour.
In august in a sunny Saturday t's taken me 10 minutes to get a place but an hour in Feb - I'm calling it - rubbish!
Some people just want special treatment I guess and when they don't get it they leave 2* reviews.
Shameful review tbh for a hotel & restaurant that's doing amazing things for Veganism.

Vegan haven in glorious surroundings - Edit
We are nearing the end of our 3 day stay and we've had a fabulous time. The hotel is lovely with comfortable rooms and the modern dining room with access to the patio next to the beck is wonderful. The location couldn't be much better with beautiful countryside on the doorstep. Such friendly staff, I didn't get all their names but Davide and Martin were super helpful and Linda's card trick was a revelation! The food is imaginative and well-presented and the portions very generous, you won't go hungry even if you're normally a meat eater. Looking forward to a return visit later in the year.

Plant-Powered Haven: Beck Hall's Culinary Revolution in the Dales - Edit
In the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, amidst a landscape sadly marked by animal exploitation, Beck Hall emerges as a beacon of plant-based innovation and ethical dining. This unique hotel and restaurant offers a refreshing contrast to its surroundings.
Read moreStaying at Beck Hall for three nights, the team’s friendliness and eagerness to accommodate stand out, making every moment of the stay pleasant and memorable. We stayed in a comfortable room but with a touch too much wool and leather for it to be considered fully vegan.
The culinary journey at Beck Hall was refreshing and interesting. The vegan afternoon tea is a highlight, featuring monster scones that defy the stereotype of vegan limitations. The Sunday roast, Sea Cocktail, and mushroom steamed pudding further showcase the chef's ability to transform classic British fare into delightful vegan versions without compromising on taste or quality. It's a testament to the creativity and dedication of the kitchen team, who have embraced the fully plant-based menu with exceptional skill.
Beck Hall's recent transition to a fully plant-based menu is a bold move that sets it apart in the Yorkshire Dales, a region not traditionally known for such culinary adventures. Yet, the quality of the food speaks volumes, offering a gastronomic experience that would impress even the most skeptical of carnist diners.
In conclusion, Beck Hall is not just a hotel and restaurant; it's a pioneering force for plant-based dining in an area steeped in animal farming practices. It offers a haven for those seeking to enjoy the Yorkshire Dales without compromising their ethical standards. With its comfortable accommodations, exceptional service, and outstanding food, Beck Hall is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in the best of British cuisine, reimagined for a more ethical and sustainable future.
Pros: Exceptional Plant-Based Cuisine, Friendly and Accommodating Staff, Unique Ethical Dining Experience
Cons: Use of wool and leather in hotel rooms/spaces

The perfect vegan restaurant… - Edit
I’d been here before it went fully vegan and didn’t think much of it, but we went yesterday now it’s a vegan restaurant and WOW. It was amazing. The menu couldn’t be better, it has something for everyone. We had the most delicious sandwiches and chips after our walk, and then I had a fruit scone which was just incredible. You never would’ve guessed it was vegan. I’m so excited to have this 40 mins up the road from where I live! Will definitely be back again and again.

Bland and disappointing - Edit
I really wanted to support this place but was really disappointed by the overall experience today. Lunchtime menu isn’t that creative. Sandwiches, burger, vegan fish and chips, usual vegan choices. I opted for a pesto pasta dish that tasted like the pesto from a jar on white pasta with a couple of tomatoes thrown in. I added the tofu for an extra £3 which made the dish over £15. I won’t return for the lunchtime menu, the pubs in the village have better hearty vegan options.

Hi @mockingbird
Read moreWe’re so sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy it, the pesto definitely isn’t from a jar, we’re an all-fresh independent restaurant and make our pumpkin seed and basil pesto on site. We do have lots of different lunch items to choose from and a full a la carte menu in the evenings. We only became fully plant based on December 1st, but we’re constantly evolving. I’m currently in London studying a diploma in plant-based culinary arts and we have so many ideas and many more dishes coming including our seasonal specials menus. It’s hard enough for vegan businesses in this world and whilst we value all feedback and try to grow from all reviews, it’s really disappointing to see you recommending the neighbouring mostly meat-serving chain pubs when we’ve taken such a risk for this cause and doing everything to offer great vegan food which has mostly been well received. I could have gone further with my review tbh. The coffee was terrible and I heard one of the members of staff saying ‘we don’t have normal things like milk here’. Not really what you expect from a fully vegan place. I did pass on my thoughts about the pasta while I was in the bar, looked like some of management were sat near me on laptops but nobody notified them. I ate a decent curry in the pub not so long ago, it was a tastier and healthier option. HappyCow is for people to honestly review, and that is what I have done.
