Fantastic!

Absolutely loved this place.

We planned a weekend away around a visit to Beck Hall because we were so desperate to eat in a vegan restaurant- to experience the joy of choosing anything we wanted and not having to scrutinise the menu first.

I was expecting great food but I was so happy to find that everything about Beck Hall is idyllic, not just the food. The food, the setting, the staff, the ambience, quite literally the best place, the best food, the best of everything. Cannot wait to return, and to try the new place in Wales too.

Thank you! 🙏

Pros: Everything!, Seriously, everything!, I mean it!

Cons: Nope, Still nope, Stop it!

Did *we* just write this...?😁Because this is exactly how we feel about Beck Hall!! First trip for us was in September 2025, and now we're going back in a couple of weeks (May 2026). Cannot wait! xx

Must visit

Beck Hall is one of those rare places where the food alone would justify the journey, but staying overnight transforms it into something genuinely unforgettable. The fully vegan menu is nothing short of exceptional—thoughtful, creative, and deeply satisfying without ever feeling like it’s trying to replicate anything else. Each dish is packed with flavour and intention, from comforting, indulgent mains to lighter plates that still feel complete and exciting. But what truly elevates the experience is choosing to stay; it allows you to slow down, fully immerse yourself, and enjoy the food without any sense of rush. Dinner becomes an occasion rather than a stop, something to savour properly in the calm, cosy atmosphere that Beck Hall does so well.
And then there’s the breakfast, which might just be the highlight of it all. It’s clear the same care and creativity carries through into the morning, with beautifully prepared dishes that feel both nourishing and indulgent. Sitting down to that kind of breakfast, in such a peaceful setting, completes the whole experience in a way that a single visit never could. Beck Hall isn’t just a great vegan restaurant—it’s a place where staying makes everything feel richer, more relaxed, and easily ten times more memorable.

Pretty much perfect

My family and I (3 vegan 1 vegetarian) stayed at this fully plant-based hotel for 2 nights and we loved it. The location is brilliant, rooms are lovely and the food is some of the best vegan food I have personally had. The restaurant is also open to people who aren’t guests at the hotel. The food is on the pricey side but worth it for the quality in my opinion.

Lovely breakfast menu

Came across this by accident while on the Pennine Way. I asked if they had plant milk for coffee and they informed me they’re 100% plant based! Lovely breakfast menu.

Fantastic food, beautiful location

Gorgeous spot - it was a sunny day so we sat by the river. All 3 meals (banana blossom and chips, MFC burger, and pakora wrap) were lovely and the service was really speedy. Would love to stay at the hotel in future.

A vegan paradise!

We stayed at Beck Hall to celebrate our anniversary and had the most wonderful stay.

The staff couldn't be more helpful or friendly, the setting is absolutely perfect, super dog friendly and the food is excellent!

We loved the selection at breakfast, had a lovely afternoon and the dinners were a real stand out.

Every dish was excellent, including the banana blossom "fish" & chips, lasagna, and sticky toffee pudding.

Absolutely loved our stay, can't wait to be back.

Good food in idyllic setting

We stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Throughout our stay staff were incredibly friendly & helpful. In our room, instead of the usual biscuits, there were Booja Booja truffles which was a nice touch & GF milk to make drinks. They also very kindly gave us a free glass of fizz on our first night when they found out it was our anniversary which was much appreciated.
The menu is good quality gastropub fare executed well with more care & consideration going into the dishes than at your average pub. On the first evening I went for the full 3 course experience - the butter bean & mushroom ragu was the star of the show served on a soft, buttery polenta mash which complimented the rich ragu perfectly. I also recommend the coronation tempeh.
The highlight for me though was the breakfast - all the cereals on the breakfast bar were gluten free which was a pleasant surprise. It was difficult to choose what to have but, being a huge fan of scrambled tofu, I had that & was not disappointed. Coffee was good & staff offered enough top ups to satisfy this caffeine addict.
Only word of warning is to wear something with an elasticated waist as portions are generous! Will definitely return.

Amazing

We stayed at the hotel for two nights and had dinner both nights as well as breakfast each morning. There are a variety of dishes on offer. What we had was delicious. First night we ordered starters, but had no room for dessert. We left room the second night and had the sticky toffee pudding, which was delicious. I highly recommend the wild mushroom and butter bean ragu, it was so good I had it both nights. Lots of choice and variety at breakfast, the pain au chocolat were fantastic. Staff are very accommodating, helpful and friendly. Would definitely come back.

Pros: Lots of choice, Delicious food, Great service

Stunning afternoon tea

Beck Hall is in such a lovely place. The views are stunning and we were lucky enough to have sat next to a window where the sun was streaming in! The staff were also so lovely and made the whole experience magical.

The sandwiches tasted fresh and the combos were different than the typical vegan sandwich. We had avocado and olive spread and coronation tempeh - both slayed. I’m also not a fan of pastry but I gave the sausage roll a try and it’s one of the best I’ve ever had! There were a variety of cakes (some that we took home and had later) but all were unique and delicious. The scones though!! Wow. Literally the best vegan scones I’ve had. The cream and jam were also incredible.

The best vegan place I’ve ever been

This is truly the best vegan place in the entire country.

Stunningly beautiful setting, imaginative menu, delicious food.

We stayed nearby with Vegan Hikers Club and visited over the weekend.

I had a cream tea one day and a Sunday dinner another. Beck Hall also did an amazing curry and sides for us to eat at the hostel. Will share photos of other food that friends had. Amazing. Staff fantastic food . hoping to come back as a treat to myself at some point soon.

Plant based paradise

We stayed for 2 nights with breakfast & dinner included. The food selection was amazing varied dishes to cater to all cuisines. Between the two of us we tried many dishes & didn’t have the same dish twice. Breakfast selection is extensive. Only gripe was I was offered a dessert special, and then told it was sold out which was sooo disappointing as a lemon & raspberry Mille-feille sounded amazing.
The rooms were cosy and ideal after a long walk around Malham

Best vegan roast out there!

Beck Hall is just perfect in every way and beyond worth the trip. Beautiful surroundings, lovely, considerate, staff and incredible food. Genuinely the best vegan roast I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Gluten free options are phenomenal - the amount of care taken to make gf Yorkshire puddings & gravy was a wonderful surprise and a reflection on how much love goes into Beck Hall 💕 Thank you!

Plant Based Sanctuary in the Yorkshire Dales

💚🌱Southerners up north for an overnight stay @beckhallmalham, England’s first 100% plant based hotel. We did a one night stay for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast 🏩

🥰What a fantastic place! Built in the 18th century, it’s small and traditional, cosy but with modern touches. The bar/restaurant is open plan and modern, and there’s a super cozy snug for guests, with sofas and a relaxing open fire 🔥. The bedroom was lovely, with complimentary @boojabooja truffles 🍫and a flask of oat milk for tea/coffee 🥰

🥾 Right beside a stream and set in the Yorkshire Dales. Stunning countryside all around and perfect for hiking, including a visit to Malham Cove 🥾

😴Felt immediately relaxed as soon as we arrived 😴

🐶 Dogs very welcome here (we saw some cuties during our stay) 🐶

🥗The food was outrageously good: tried the pastilla and celeriac stack to start, thali & the chicken suet pud for main, and sticky toffee pudding to share 🥗

🥐 Brek was scrambled tofu on sourdough (gorgeous) with a side of hash brown (of course!). Couldn’t fit in the pastries or chia pudding but took some pain au chocolate with us for the journey (thank you to the staff who gave us takeaway boxes xx) 🥐

💚Really excellent, friendly team. Thank you, this place is amazing and feels so good to be in a place where everything is vegan 💚🌱💚🌱💚

👍 Will definitely be coming back again for a long stay (& to try their Sunday roast!)🎉

Fantastic, cosy, vegan hotel.

We have been wanting to visit for 2 years and the hotel was just as we had hoped.
Fully plant based, super friendly for humans and dogs, cosy and welcoming.
We loved sitting by the open fire in the snug with a glass of wine in the evenings.
In a stunning location for exploring the local area and very peaceful.
The food was amazing, it was such a luxury to be able to choose anything from the menu, we really enjoyed everything that we ate.
We also chatted to lots of other guests during our stay, which was a bonus.

Amazing! Booked to go back soon!

Gutted this place is 3 hours away! Although probably best for my waist line! lol Spoilt for choice! Full breakfast and pancakes both so good! Afternoon tea, amazing and such good value! Sunday lunch, my husband’s favourite. The banana blossom ‘fish’ and chips was my favourite although the suet pudding was very good too! Cheesecake is to die for!

Just returned from our second visit and it was just as good as the first! Stayed in a superior room again which was immaculate. Lots of the same staff as last time and all very helpful and friendly. Food 10/10. Will be going again when we get the chance😄

as expected

stayed here for 3 nights to chill a bit and eat some vegan food. the place was as expected for a middle of nowhere vegan 3* hotel - old and cold😄not very maintained with ancient floors, walls, rooms etc. and not exactly up to date when it comes to mold, appliances etc. but that's typical for UK.

the food was also as expected, mostly bland with some surprises😄it is not a 5* restaurant for sure but that was also known in advance.

for breakfast you can take whatever you want from the buffet, which is mostly fine, but the problem is that it is always the same, same pastries as well, and they are usually very dry and obviously not fresh. the fruit selection is tragic, but what can you expect. yogurt is some coconut one instead of soy with protein. on top of all that you can choose something from a la carte.

i liked the pancakes for breakfast. the beck hall breakfast had the unseasoned bland tofu, as well as bland hashbrowns etc. not enough salt has always been a problem of british cuisine... banana blossom was also too bland.

we tried some indian/middle eastern meals to try to get some more seasonings involved, but that just resulted in food that was way too spicy for us (thali, kofta, tempeh boats...)

hummus was very good, soup was fantastic, dhal was good, lemon cheesecake was very good. there was a lot of vegan alcohol, but we don't drink, i don't like booja truffles either. there was some nonalcoholic stuff though which was good. tea was good. afternoon tea was also mostly good, except for the cake part, cake was inedible as it was way too sweet and really didn't taste like anything. apple crumble was too sweet.

the staff was mostly very polite. there was a lot of dogs and children. there are some walks you can do around, of course it is farmland and not such an interesting landscape outside of the malham cove. i would maybe go further out with the car and fill the car previously with some fruit as i didn't see a store there and i was really missing it. it's also super expensive.

EDIT: it was also not super obvious anywhere that the place was vegan, but whatever, as long as the site says so

What a FABULOUS hotel and restaurant!

The ULTIMATE stay
Sublime food, in a relaxed and romantic, atmospheric setting. The owners have created an exceptional experience, with a generous approach everywhere, they have everything right. Wonderful staff, giving perfect service, friendly, efficient and professional. Totally sublime food, with plenty of excellent choice. The savoury suet pudding is spectacularly good and across 3 days, each dish was flawless.
Bliss. It doesn’t get much better than creamy hot chocolate next to a roaring log fire and Booja Booja truffles in our room.
This all made for a terrific stay and perfect for anyone looking for great food in a beautiful place but to have all of this 100% vegan is nothing short of fantastic. NOMO if you’re not vegan and NOMO for those of us who are.
Many guests had their dogs with them, huge floor cushions, treats and water bowls provided. No problems at all, gorgeous dogs on leads and of every size, from Huskies to Dachshunds and they all behaved beautifully. We met and chatted to lovely guests too, all of us appreciating being so well looked after.
This is the first time I’ve ever booked ahead for next year, for any hotel but I unhesitatingly did.
My only suggestion is.. please open a sister hotel and restaurant on the same principles, near the Brecon Beacons, so we can eat there every week in between coming back to Malham!
Thank you for all of this and a special shout out to the brilliant Mabel!

Pros: Exceptional home cooked food, plenty of choice, Relaxed, comfortable, romantic atmosphere , Brilliant staff, outstanding service

Cons: Nothing to complain about, loved it all.

Comfortable hotel with delicious food.

Sadly we only stayed for one night as the hotel and food deserved longer. While waiting to check in I heard a lady who wasn't vegan telling her vegan friend how good the food was as we discovered later that evening. Every mouthful was delicious and its not often we have a dessert each but having tasted the chocolate pot previously we decided it was too good to share so had one each. The breakfast was excellent too with plenty of choices. The portions were generous and served at a good pace neither being rushed nor having to wait too long. Our room was clean and comfortable with a large bed that gave us a good night's sleep which is what you want. The only down side, if it is a down side, is the room was very warm when we arrived and it may be better to have the temperature set lower because it's easier and quicker to warm a rule than cool it.

Pros: Food, Bedroom, Shower

Cons: Room was on the warm side

Lovely weekend but not perfect

Stayed two nights in the Winter. Check-in was in the dark, lugging suitcases through mud and puddles down the road and over a bridge. On arrival a Canada Goose jacket was hanging up by the door, which I think belonged to staff. Only one staff member out of many is vegan. The owners are vegan but are not present. This set up made it feel more like a money making venture. The room was outside the hotel (in the rain and ice), which made it feel a bit like you weren't actually staying there and happened to be going to a vegan place next door. The bedding did not fit the bed, which led to a bit of discomfort and being cold. There were no hooks for coats or wet walking clothes and the towel hook in the bathroom was broken. The shower pressure and heat was not the best. The shower gel and hand-wash were full of terrible additives, and they used chemical diffusers to mask smells. Some attention to detail and upgrading is required. Lighting in the room was dim. We were woken too early by barking dogs. Breakfast was put away early on the first morning so we missed out on some options. The juices and jams were terribly cheap tasting. Some of the restaurant seating was uncomfortable. Afternoon tea sounded bought in and uninspiring so gave that a miss. Gluten free options either had things removed for the same cost, or the bread option was Schar, which is utterly boring. Food was not award worthy, and that is probably the reason a lot of people go there. There was a large mark up on wine, which we saw online for sixteen pound less. No guests were obviously vegan or wanted to socialise, you could easily forget the place was fully plantbased. The internet went down during the stay so that impacted the card machines, phones and tv. If you aren't staying for the walks, there isn't much else in the area and it is sandwiched between farms (brave). Despite these negative points and something not feeling quite right, we would still support again and recommend. Listed what was lacking so that improvements could possibly be made, and guests know what to expect.
