Top Notch!

My husband and I, both longtime vegans, ate here for lunch two weekdays in a row.

The food on set menu (a dip-like appetizer, soup, main course and drink) was different each day and all absolutely delicious. And very affordable. I recall a spinach soup, a mung bean stew, a raita, and a layered tofu and veggie dish. All very fresh and flavorful! The chef/owner Joanna is a warm, lovely and talented woman--just a delight.

The service too was beyond terrific. Filipe, Joanna's partner, could not have been a nicer or better host. He, as well as Joanna, made us feel not like customers, or even guests, but like friends. He speaks English like it's his first language and is very generous in sharing his encyclopedic knowledge of a variety of topics. He's a wonderful conversationist.

We also ate at the two other local vegan restaurants, Black Mamba and Lupin. Both were very solid four star choices, with good food and lovely, friendly service. But I'd give Arvore do Mundo six stars if I could. Eat there every day you can, you'll thank yourself.

A little tip to find the restaurant which is a bit hard to see from the street: It's located on the ground floor of a tall, modern, white building right by the curve in the road.

Pros: Excellent food, Lovely service, Good prices

WEEKENDS - BOOK IN ADVANCE

So after two days in Porto, we finally decided to go to Arvore do Mundo. It is a bit far from the city centre but not too much. The place is reaaally nice but, unfortunately, tiny. That is precisely why we couldn't stay :( The waitress/cooker kindly indicated us that booking during weekends is almost essential. Hope to had known before!

Cons: Size

Thank you for your review!

Since Árvore do Mundo is a small space (although we have been serving dinner to around 30 people each night on weekends) and we only open for dinner two days a week, it really is better to book for those days... not that we work by reservation only, far from that, but it is easy to fill up the restaurant.

We hope to welcome you on another occasion!

Best vegan restaurant in Porto so far

I come to Porto every month and always try different restaurants and the level is quite good but this restaurant is quite different as the food is way better than any other vegan restaurant, the food is well balanced and taste just perfect.
You have a menu (that's what I took) at a very good price.as soon as you taste the food you will realize how great the price is by the amazing quality of the food and the beautiful flavours and colors.

Pros: High quality food, Excellent quality for money, Staff is very friendly and they speak english

There's only one Bobby Robson

It's always nice to talk about football in a vegan place and particularly with someone who appreciates the legendary Sir Bobby Robson and his time at FC Porto. This vibrant, casual and amazingly friendly place is located in a wonderful part of the city. We were made to feel very welcome indeed. For €8 we opted for the 3 course menu of the day consisting of a delicious yeast-based spread on mini toasted breads, cream of beetroot soup, a filo pastry filled with tofu and vegetables served with rice and a wild mushroom salad and a drink of choice. In our case, this was wine as it was my birthday. Not that I needed that excuse to drink wine. Everything was perfect. We even finished off with a couple of slices of traditional Portuguese chocolate 'salami' for dessert.

Beautiful atmosphere, great prices

I went here one afternoon and was so pleased! They had a lunch menu for just 8€ which included soup, bread w guacamole, a drink(choice of juice, beer, tea and others)and a choice of two mains: soya spaghetti bolognese or tofu and pea stew with basmati rice.

I chose the bolognese(as I had been eating a lot of rice in Portugal jeje) and it was so yummy, it came with a nice side salad and olives. The watercress soup was so good, well seasoned and fresh! If I had any criticism of the set menu I would have wanted a bit more guacamole! But then by the end of the meal I was really fully so maybe they did get the portion just right lol.
I ended my meal with a piece of carrot cake for an additional 2.5€, was it worth it? Absolutely, easily one of the best carrot cakes I've had since being vegan. There were quite a few vegan dessert options too!
I should add that the people there were so attentive and informative, it made the visit even more enjoyable!

Just great

We found this beautiful place via Happy Cow. Nice, comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, colorful interior, love for detail.
The menu included a small appetizer, soup and main course. Unbeatable price and every course was extremely delicious. Home made with Love slow food. Extremely friendly and attentive staff, (owner, cook, waiter all in one person), English was not a problem and very helpful with the Portuguese menu. Just fabulous. Will come again. Thank you.

Amazing! A "must'! Delicious, inspiring vegan restaurant with prices that are much lower than they should be.

What a find! A recently opened vegan restaurant in the old town of historic Porto. Home prepared dishes by expert vegan chefs. I track down and try vegan restaurants around the world and this one is a gem. Appetizers, soups, salads, main courses often based on 'veganized' traditional Portuguese dishes. Owners and staff are inspiring models of "walking the talk' of healthy living. Meals are totally affordable. Meat eaters would discover an exciting new world here! This place is a real gift.

Pros: Delicious dishes made with care and originality. T

Very nice staff

The staff was very nice and attentive. I ordered the set menu (€8), consisting of 2 appetizers, 1 main dish and 1 drink. The beetroot soup was perfectly seasoned, the mint green tea was good and the peach jelly for dessert was delicious and not too sweet. Although the dessert was not in the set, the bill was only €9.5 in total, which is a really good price for the entire experience. The interior design and deco was super interesting and cozy too. And they have a shelf filled with books, even in English! However the dishes were overall a bit too oily but maybe that's just me.

Pros: very attentive staff (all of them); cozy and beaut

Cons: a bit too much oil in the dishes
