It is a 100% vegan, out of conviction. At the same time it appeals to a wider range of people, because they provide "common" food, which also non-vegetarians will easily recognize and find to be tasting at least as good, as what they know.
One credo of the owner is: "Every single person enjoying our food here is one person less, eating agonized animals."
But what I found even more appealing is the personality and soul-energy of the owner Joana.
With an attentive eye you can observe it materialized in one of the most beautiful and warmly decorated cafe/restaurant I have seen so far. She is a true inspiration, not only as a vegan pioneer but also as a woman in life.
This way, you have the chance to be getting much more than only delicious vegan food. :-)

Pros: Energy of the place and people working there., Taste, creativity and dedication in the food.
Cons: Can be too small to host all raving fans. :-), Can´t beam the restaurant to where you live.

My partner is not vegan or vegetarian and he had the special of the day which was a fried tofu "steak" with seaweed and seasonal vegetables which he very much enjoyed. I had their take on a traditional portugeuse sausage which was made with bread. I cannot recall the name of it but it was very good. Very nice meal, not tons of options but hearty and filling. Desserts were also delicious and my partner had a Christmas spiced craft beer which he absolutely loved.

By far the best meal we had during our bike trip from south Portugal to northern Portugal! The plates were very lovely decorated with devotion.

We had lunch at Arvore do Mundo. Their whole menu is vegan, and they have a daily changing lunch & soup lunch options. The lunch is very filling - it's almost too much food for people who are not use to having lunch as their biggest meal of the day - and tasty. We had beetroot hummus and homemade bread for starters, Chinese cabbage soup, samosas with a salad, and a drink of your choice - all definitely worth of the 7,50 euros!

Arvore do Mundo has an extensive menu with main courses, desserts (cakes, mousse), drinks (kefir, wine, beer, coffee, etc.), snacks (burgers, samosas, etc.), and vegan cheeses. I strongly recommend the cheese platter; this tasted amazing!! They were also very friendly and knowledgeable about the food that they served. Best place to have lunch in Porto? Most probably!

As a very new vegan, I was nervous about finding suitable food in a new city. I shouldn't have worried! This lovely place was easy to find and the set menu of the day (we had lunch) was delicious and really good value. Even my meat eating husband really enjoyed it, and he is very anxious about vegan food. It was delicious and we will be heading back!

We wasn't sure Porto would have something Vegan to offer with much quality but this place proved us wrong. The whole experience was incredible. From the service, the coffee, the drinks and the exciting food. After I finished my desert and felt overwhelmingly happy that I had probably had the most satisfying meal in years! This is the best vegan meal I have had to date. Incredibly impressed. You may have to wait a little sometimes but the staff make up for it as they are a pleasure to talk to. Will def visit again if I can. Amazing!!!

Delicious meal in lovely garden setting - Edit
I had the best vegan meal in Porto here. The food was served like a tasting menu. To start, lovely bread and guacamole, then a creamy soup, main was veg with quinoa. I'm not a massive dessert fan but so glad I made space for the sorbet I had. The service was great. Food was brought to the table by the owner and his son. I chose to sit outside and was glad I did. It was lovely and the excellent food made for a perfect meal. Don't visit Porto without eating here!

Had great meal, very friendly owners, lovely atmosphere - and me a non-vegetarian! Make sure to book, you won't be disappointed. Bring cash, like many restaurants in Porto, they don't take Credit cards, but it won't be expensive.
