Read moreFirst time I visited Bali I was obsessed with their salads because they do possibly have the best salad bar on Earth. I still remember coming for very first lunch in Bali and being so overwhelmed I could hardly speak. Those boring things one can purchase at multiple brands which mainly consists of iceberg lettuce, refrigerator cold tomato and some cucumber are not even salads. THIS is how to make a salad. The salad bar of Alchemy is four meters long, and in a large bowl (the size a salad bowl SHOULD be!) one - in the standard salads - gets to chose five of their lovely ingredients. Of course I could never settle with just five when there was so much interesting and normally I ended up with about seven (a very wise and value-for-money choice!). Imagine raw pad thai, marinated mini mushrooms, spiced vegetables, olives, coconut bacon... They grow a lot by themselves and the 11th bowl is for free. Just go!
My second and third stays I've been even more mesmerised by their smoothie bowls. The bubblegum one is out of this world! Gosh, I wish Alchemy was located in my little Swedish village...
Additionally the place has a very nice bathroom and great interior to chill out for hours in!😄

Fantastic raw food and vegan desserts, good breakfasts - Edit
Alchemy offers a diverse menu of mostly vegan food (except those with honey), and there’s a good chance that most people would find something to enjoy. Raw cuisine is a specialty here and the raw pizzas are recommendable (more so than the cooked pizzas, in our opinion).
Read moreFor us, where Alchemy shines most brightly is with their desserts, which are top notch, some bordering on magical. They have plenty of good breakfast options, too, from healthy smoothie bowls to heartier cooked items like waffles and pancakes. The breakfast bowl bar and waffle bar offer endless variety for those who want to dial in their ideal brekky.
As for their savory cooked lunch/dinner options, there are plenty that will do the trick, though for our tastes most of these aren’t Alchemy’s strong suit. For example, their cooked pizzas are OK but not at the level of other vegan pizzas in town like Pizza Cult or nearby Bella.
Vegans will do well here but just need to pay close attention to which items have honey (they’re labeled with a honeycomb graphic on the menu, for “beegan,” but it’s small so can be easy to miss among the other similar graphics).
Service is sweet and accommodating.

Beautiful Venue But Lacking Anything Else Truly Memorable. - Edit
First thing to point out was that we visited on a night with a pizza event, where all pizzas should have been a certain price (and was actually the reason we opted to have a pizza with out meal) but, not mentioned on the advertising, is that the offer only included cooked pizzas, not their raw takes. We still ordered a raw pizza, but had to pay full price.
Read moreOur experience with the food was a bit mixed. As stated, we went with the Aloha Raw Pizza, and this, for the most part was a success. The base was a little chewy and it had an abundance of mushrooms, but, as the sauce itself was delicious, it tied together quite well. It was good, not great. However, we also ordered the Mediterranean Wrap and this didn't really work. The flax used for the actual wrap is incredibly dry and hard to eat, and the filling itself did not include any actual sauce (you're expected to dip the wrap in the sauce provided but this doesn't make a lot of difference), so it was the equivalent of a mouth of sand unfortunately.
The dessert we ordered was a nice bounceback though. We really wanted to try one of their raw desserts but these were sold out and so we had to go with the chocolate pie. This might've been a blessing as our previous courses were hit and miss when it came to the raw food items, so a nice piece of cooked chocolate pie might hit the spot. And it did! The chocolate ganache was set perfectly and had a slight sweetness to it, but not enough to distract from the cocoa main event. It was an accomplished dessert.
Overall, the food standard is basically the minimum you would expect from a restaurant in Ubud charging the prices that Alchemy does.
The interior of the restaurant was extremely nice but due to the general busyness of the evening, we had to go to the less-restauranty, more casual upper part of the establishment. It was nice enough but, other diners were making themselves far too comfortable. There was one with her feet on the furniture whoses soles were completely black from dirt, there was another couple who spent a good 30 minutes basically climbing all over and rubbing each other and another diner who would let out arousal noises with every mouthful of his food. It was a bit distracting for us and something to be aware of!
Final positive, serving staff are excellent, really welcoming and friendly.
Pros: Desserts Seemed Very High Quality., Staff Are Excellent.
Cons: Unclear Menu Promotions., Food Is Basic Compared To Nearby Venues., Customer Behaviour A Bit Offputting.

Cozy, bright, cheerful, and Delicious - Edit
I've been to Alchemy 4 or 5 times and absolutely love this place. The food is amazing, healthy, and comforting. Their pizzas and nut cheese are my favourite things but I've tried several dishes and theyee all delicious. And if you have a sweet tooth the dessert menu is amazing. I especially like the milkshakes. Amd the juicers are divine. Definitely recommend this place.

My boy ordered zucchini zoodles (which I normally don't like) but did not want them since they were cold (raw vegan), so I switched for my burger & they were fantastic.
The wedges that sided the burger as well as the dip were also great (I did not get the chance to try the burger 😂).
My wife had the "best bowl in Bali" & we've been here for several months now.

The intro to this place says raw food cafe and, although there are lots of raw food options on the menu, there are also a lot of cooked options as well. For people, like myself, who aren’t keen on the raw food scene, don’t let the intro put you off going here. The Shakshouka with the vegan fried egg was so good and packed full of flavour. It was probably the best vegan fried egg I’ve ever had! The açai bowl, cookies and truffle were all amazing as well!

We lived in a villa in one of the rice fields behind Alchemy and were so lucky that this was our nearest restaurant with lots of healthy vegan options and a daily fresh juice delivery for each day of my cleanse.

Just wandered into this restaurant and was completely marvelled. Lovely interior, nice staff and a HUGE variety. It’s made almost cooked up to 40° Celsius ( don’t know then Fahrenheit).

Created by a good person who has staff that are happy and welcoming. Alchemy continues to set the standard of raw and semi raw food in the Ubud community. A good focus on flavor and nutrition, there is a range of options available for all palates. Personal faves include the smoothie bowl breakfast bar, salad bar, soup bar and their variety of ice creams.

We went for the full 'make your own' experience be raiding the salad bar and making our own soft serve. It was all very good and delicious. The atmosphere is chill. They clearly mark honey options (we've noticed in Bali honey is often still in vegan-marked dishes :/)

We went here a few times as they had a shop as well as the restaurant, the shop was great as it had really nice kimchi which we always stocked up on. We ate at the restaurant once and it was pretty good. The staff are all really warming and friendly. The food was tastey but it’s not the sort of place you would go if you like unhealthy food as it’s all health or raw based mostly. They do have a fridge full of sweet snacks where you can get really nice chocolates. It’s pretty expensive tho.

Been here a few times - the drinks are good, but pricey. I was recommended the snickers dessert which was overly sweet with competing tastes. Salads and vege dishes were good. I recently heard that they're now stocking Malaika gluten free breads which is great news - these aren't your usual banana flour breads, they are fermented pumpkin and fermented coconut breads - really tasty, low-carb and delicious!
