Great gardens minimal vegan options

The venue was beautiful. There was a choice of a vegan pasty (spicy cauliflower and onion bahji) or leek and potato soup. There were no vegan sandwich options. There was a sign saying homemade hot food but I’m pretty sure the pastry was bought in. I did really enjoy it though, plenty of flavour. I also had it with a lovely local vegan cider and the one vegan cake option (carrot and pistachio) was also delicious. We watched a couple of chickens pecking around outside while we ate which was great entertainment.

Pros: Great gardens, What they had was nice

Cons: Very limited options

A few options

They have thought about vegans. Today on offer was a Phat chickpea, cauliflower and onion bahgi pasty, a homous and rocket sandwich and a hoisin mock duck and cucumber roll. Lots of non-vegan lovely looking cakes but sadly no vegan cakes. You could ask for a vegan scone. Also a tub of vegan ice-cream. I had the mock duck roll: crusty roll with lots of chunks of mock fake meat in a sugary sauce. It was a peculiar mix and not very enjoyable. Oat and soya milk 50p extra and the coffee was not good. You could eat outside which was the best option but I imagine it could get busy in peak times.

A trip to paradise

An on-site cafe offering small range simple snacks / dishes, of which 50% were vegan when we visited, along with at least two delicious vegan cakes. Milk alternatives available for tea / coffee.
Stunning location; the gardens are a must-visit.
