Big on flavour

My first place to try on Lisbon. Went there straight from the airport and got a takeaway. I couldn't fault it, everything was full of flavour, great selection.

Great Food, Great Service

I love to try veganized national dishes, and this place serves exactly that. I had the Bife Paillard, and it was great. I especially loved the grated “cheese” on top.

For dessert I had the “creative art” (dessert of the day), which was a cheesecake with candied apple and was absolutely amazing.

Highly recommended to go, even though it’s a bit more expensive than most other places in Lisbon (but still very affordable). Reservation recommended.

Fancy und gut

Dieser Laden ist unglaublich schön gelegen. Von der Spitze Chiado‘s geht es in einer Gebäudewand eine Treppe runter in einen Garten am Hang.
Sie wollen definitiv eine hohe Etikette beweisen und das gelingt ihnen auch. Ein sehr beeindruckendes Restaurant von der Aufmachung, dem Service und auch dem Essen

Tudo delicioso e com muita cor

Adorámos as entradas, os pratos e as sobremesas. Apenas o prato com rúcula achámos que tinha demasiada rúcula. De resto, estava tudo incrível e delicioso!

Diferenciado

O espaço é muito bonito, assim como a apresentação dos pratos, que também são mesmo muito gostosos. O staff também é muito simpático. O preço é um pouco acima da média, mas corresponde ao que é entregue.

Nice classy restaurant

Nice and intimist restaurant with various simili choices. It was good but i expected better with all the great comments. Still, I recommand it to try! Their cocktails are very good

spectacular

The Ciao was truly excellent. The location was great too. The waiters were also very kind. An experience worth repeating and one I recommend to anyone who, like me, is vegan.

The best

We had a Portuguese sharing platter for 20 euros. The white wine sangria was lovely also. A delicious selection of platters, the fried cuttlefish was the best!

Beautiful restaurant and tasty experience

Came here two times to try different dishes. I ate the choco frito, the steak au paillard and the jackfruit tartar. The choco frito are a bit simple but it's nice to eat a veganised version of a portuguese snack, and the tartar sauce is good. The steak au paillard was delicious : the pasta were perfectly cooked, creamy and cheesy, the seitan steak was tasty and not dry, paired well with the pasta sauce. It's a big portion, which is appreciated for the price!!
The jackfruit tartar was really fresh, tasty and visually appealing. I really like that we can mix the different elements ourselves. As a vegan for many years, i missed a good tartar and this totally satisfied my craving. I highly recommend trying this dish! (note that in my tartar i asked for no pickles).
The restaurant is beautiful, but the two times i went i found it really hot inside, so maybe dress lightly. The service is quick!

Beautiful restaurant and food

My meal here was another highlight of my Lisbon trip. The creamy fettuccine and seitan steak was carb heaven. The seitan had a nice texture and it paired very well with the fettuccine. The cheese plate was divine. Note the cheese plate is short just a slice or two of bread or crackers and we needed to order more to be able to finish the cheese which we were charged an additional €3 for. The orange creme brulee was great too but I wished it were just a little bit bigger. Only a few spoons and it was gone.

The restaurant is beautiful, down a staircase in a little serene corner of the city center. A nice place to come for a special event too.

Incredible food

Lovely place, incredible food, great people. Easily the best vegan food I have ever eaten and great value for the quality. It cost us around £25 per head including two courses and alcohol. I would expect a similar restaurant in Britain would be at least double the cost.

Incrivel!

Went here twice, and honestly might go again before I leave. Kind of like Kong (where I also went twice), they make traditional Portuguese dishes, but vegan! I brought a non-vegan here who told me he had “very high standards” and he was impressed. We had the choco (a mushroom “calamari”), the franceszinha, and the bifana. They were all to die for. The crème brûlée was good, but my friend said it could be hotter. Tbh I didn’t care about that. Get the choco, and you can’t miss the franceszinha!

Bel locale, ampia scelta e piatti buoni

Un bel locale, anche se un po’ rumoroso, personale simpatico e gentile. Ottima l’idea di riproporre piatti tipici in versione vegana. Il risultato è talvolta ottimo, talvolta buono. Ho apprezzato la bistecca di seitan e la pasta con i formaggi. La francesinha risulta un po’ pesante. Buoni i dolci.

Amazing dinner experience

Came here for a family dinner and it was amazing! We shared the starter platter between the 4 of us and is was great - a lot of variety and delicious flavours. For mains, we had the tempeh & black rice dish, tofu with seaweed and seitan steak. Everything was amazing, except the seitan steak was a bit basic, not sure what we expected but it was a seitan steak! For dessert we tried the peanut-chocolate cake and chokolate mousse. Especially the mousse was to die for! Soo good with olive oil and salt. Amazing interior and good service, will be back!

Great food in the heart of Lisbon

Vibey little place down some stairs with a little green space and sitting area at the entrance. Interior.

Ordered the Francesinha and Islander. Both were fantastic. Portions were pretty good, though if not sharing entrées, may be wise to order a starter, too. Service was pretty quick and pricing is on the higher side of what you will pay in Lisbon.

Overall my favorite dining experience in the city.

Ganz miese Stimmung.

Wir hatten im Internet gelesen, dass das Restaurant bis 23:00 Uhr geöffnet hat. Als wir dann um 22:00 Uhr eintrafen, waren wir erst begeistert, da schon der Eingang eindrucksvoll ist und der Laden sehr schön aussieht und wunderbar dekoriert ist. Doch als wir eintraten, merkten wir schon, dass eine sehr schlechte Stimmung dort herrschte. Der Service war unangenehm unfreundlich und überhaupt nicht serviceorientiert. Zum Beispiel: wir haben zu dritt drei verschiedene Tees bestellt. Diese wurden aber falsch zugeordnet, und als ich fragte, warum mein Gewürzteee nicht nach Gewürzen schmeckt, wurde ich nur angeranzt, dass ich mir die falsche Kanne gegriffen hätte. Es wäre ja klar, welcher Tee in welchem Kännchen ist, obwohl die Kannen alle gleich aussahen. Schon bei der Bestellung mussten wir mehrmals wiederholen, was wir haben wollten, da die Bedienung uns nicht verstehen wollte. Unser Englisch war ihr eventuell nicht gut genug, offenbar die meisten Gäste auch nicht, aber die schlechte Stimmung betraf tatsächlich alle Angestellten des Restaurants. Selbst in der Küche wurde kaum miteinander geredet. Ein freundliches Gesicht war überhaupt nicht zu sehen. Wir wunderten uns, was da los war. Das hat uns auch das Essen ein bisschen vermiest. Da wir einen Tag vorher im veganen Restaurant Kong waren, waren wir sehr verwöhnt. Das Level des Essens war zear nicht schlecht, aber auch nicht herausragend. Die vegane Eierspeise hatte zu viel von dem Kala Namak und schmeckte fast nur noch nach Schwefel. Da das Essen lieblos auf den Tisch geknallt wurde, wussten wir auch gar nicht genau was wo drinnen war, zum Beispiel bei dem Vorspeisenteller, was die einzelnen Portionen sein sollte. Alles in allem würde ich der Küche wegen es noch einmal versuchen, vegane Restaurants sind schon selten, man ist ja froh, wenn man mal etwas besonderes bekommt, aber der Service war so dermaßen schlecht, dass wir dort nicht mehr hingehen werden. Wirklich wirklich schade, wenn die noch ein bisschen weiter Freundlichkeit den Gästen gegenüber üben würden, könnten Sie ein wirklich ausgezeichnetes Erlebniss vermitteln. Da bin ich mir sicher. Was zusätzlich ein bisschen stört, dass alle Tische sehr sehr dreckig waren. Man mochte sich kaum auflehnen. Und das betraf nahezu alle Tische.

Arrogant service destroyed good food experience!

We were happy to have found this beautiful central location with such an amazing menue. But what happened to the staff? Noone of the team was warm and friendly to the guests. The waitress treated us nearly aggressively as we arrived 75 min before closing, did not want to explain anything for my family from a different country. She tried to push us to order faster and let me not order mashed potatoes – even though they had it! Coming from our table she talked in a bad way about us.
The tea came without spoons/sugar, when we asked for spoons we were given one only (for 3 teas) and they nearly threw the plates on the table instead of placing them nicely and properly. After 13 years in gastronomy I hardly ever had the such a bad feeling of unprofessional service – even though the chefs were great and this menu was creative, changing often. Well done!
Still: Next time I would leave, if a waitress treats us like we disturb her or are not welcome.

When guests arrive closer to closing time the pace of service can naturally be a bit faster, but that should never be perceived as rude or unwelcoming. Your comments about the way you were addressed, the ordering process and the tea service are noted and will be discussed internally with our team to improve professionalism and consistency.
Regarding the tables, they are cleaned regularly. The marble surfaces can, however, show permanent ring marks from cold glasses, which may sometimes give the impression that they are stained.
We appreciate your perspective from many years in gastronomy and we hope you might consider giving us another opportunity in the future so we can offer you a visit that matches the quality of our food and the standards we aim for.

Great choice for Portuguese food!

First I though Ao26 will be too expensive and posh for me but actually not. And the money are definitely worth the food! Managed to get twice table without booking but that was a big luck! And yeah I had to come back because I just loved it so much!
Don’t waste time over burgers (I believe they taste lovely!) if you can get super delicious traditional veganised cuisine! On a first visit we had the Pastel de Bacalhau and Mushrooms A Bulhao Pato both very delicious and for mains Portuguese seitan and tofu a lagareiro. I must say I don’t fancy seitan that much but for this one I had to come back! So bloody good! The tofu was let’s say tofish but on totally top level! Delicious beautiful, loved it! Creme brûlée as dessert to share and all of these with drinks under €50 was very nice experience.
On my next visit I had melancolique ‘sardine’ - tofish with peppers on bruschetta , was too big for me as starter so had it packed with me for later. Seitan again and chocolate mousse at the end. Second great visit! dec 2019

Six years later came to this place to confirm as good they are. Was wonderful birthday dinner full of flavours and good wine.
