Frozen Vegan Meals Meld Compassion & Convenience

In a frozen dinner first, the new Candle Cafe Frozen Meals support Farm Sanctuary’s lifesaving work on behalf of neglected and abused farm animals!

Inspired by the chefs and recipes of New York City vegan restaurants Candle Cafe and Candle 79, and in partnership with The Hain Celestial Group natural and organic foods company, the Candle Cafe Frozen Meals follow the restaurant’s mission to better the individual and the planet by serving delicious vegan cuisine rooted in eco-friendly practices and compassion for animals.

Candle Cafe founder Bart Potenza credits the formerly abused cows, pigs, and other farm animals who reside at the organization’s shelters in New York and California as the inspiration behind his work.

“The frozen food aisle has traditionally been a pretty chilly place for farm animals,” says Potenza. “We wanted to prove that not a single animal needs to suffer for you to enjoy the decadence of a gourmet meal and the convenience of a frozen dinner.”

Sold in 9 ounce trays, the Candle Cafe Frozen Meals offer an inexpensive and convenient way for consumers to enjoy the restaurant’s signature dishes, like tofu spinach ravioli, seitan piccata with lemon caper sauce, and mac & vegan cheese. These meals are available nationwide in the frozen food section of Whole Foods Market.

Farm Sanctuary is a the leading U.S. farm animal protection organization that promotes legislative, policy, and individual lifestyle changes to help farm animals. Farm Sanctuary shelters in New York and California provide lifelong care for rescued farm animals. I just saw these yesterday at Whole Foods and (there is even a $1 off coupon attached to the packages!) after having heard such great things about the Candle Cafe for years now, I very much look forward to trying these out soon!

I found these at Whole Foods about three weeks ago and bought all of them with the exception of the stir fry. I highly recommend the Mac & Cheese and the Spinach Tofu Ravioli. The Seitan Piccata is not good, in fact, I threw it away after two bites. Thanks for posting this blog so everyone else is aware of this new product!

This is exciting. I will look for the packages at Whole Foods the next time I go. I’ve yet to visit Candle Cafe, but I sure hope the frozen food lives up to their reputation.

Pretty solid reviews for their restaurant Candle Cafe. I’ll have to check out the frozen version here in L.A. before I visit out east this winter for the real thing.
