More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I became a vegetarian at age four (I'm currently vegan). When I was four I learned the real source of meat, animals - I wasn't going to have it and refused to eat meat thereafter. As time has passed I've also become more aware of animal rights/testing issues, health concerns, etc., and decided to go fully vegan as an adult. I don't see a difference between all living beings, we all feel love, pain, happiness, and sadness. That being said, why should animals be mistreated? It's just not right.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
HappyCow is a great resource and I go out of my way to try random veggie places, so why not contribute? :)

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I've been to many places and like them all. I'd like to explore Europe a little more though! Ich liebe Deutschland (I love Germany)!

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Vegan food has come a long way over the last decade, even more so in the last two years. I do love Daiya, seitan, and other vegan stuff but I also love the basics such as cauliflower, potatoes, and avocado.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

Hi Synth,

I'm just as bad with my late reply, ...sorry. "Stuff" going on lately - the big one, I lost my job, however, it is for the better as the place & people are quite toxic. But, it's just the deal of having to find something a.s.a.p. because I just recently, finally (2/29) moved into my own place again and truly don't wish to lose it.

Enough of me.

How are you doing? Anything new going on?

Take Care, Peace, Carol

Yes, we recently took a trip up to San Francisco via Bakersfield-Fresno-Oakland then back down through San Luis Obispo. Gracias Madres (gourmet, hand-made Mexican cuisine) in SF Mission District was one of the highlights, among several others.

Did you know that ALL of the Whole Foods in SF offer daily fresh baked vegan donuts? I was so impressed. One location had 7 varieties, and only $1 each!

We are doing okay, just too busy it feels. Something about being in the LA vicinity and having to work everyday is wearing us out... Our little girl loves preschool and is a darling sweetheart.

Are you still in Chicago? You had mentioned you were going to quit the finance world... What's up?
