WARNING: NOT VEGETARIAN! - Edit
Despite everything on the menu claiming to be 'vegetarian', when we entered this restaurant we were overwhelmed by the odour of fermented fish or shrimp. Assuming it must be veggie mock fish sauce, I kept asking the woman how they flavoured their 'vegan asam laksa' and other 'vegan' soups; she eventually told me they used 'belachen, a local spice'. Belachen is fermented shrimp paste!!!
