Serves meat, vegan options available. Elegant interior. Fryer uses "clean" oil so fried tofu comes out tasting only of tofu, not of fish. Try the seaweed salads, vegetarian sushi, and fried tofu served with veggies. Open Mon-Fri 11:30am-2:00pm, Mon-Thu 5:00pm-9:30pm, Fri-Sat 5:00pm-10:30pm, Sat-Sun 12:00pm-3:00pm, Sun 5:00pm-9:00pm.

Delicious sushi and accommodating staff!

We got a platter of everything they offer that’s vegan. The woman that took our order was happy to help us and was so helpful. Everything we had was delicious - I only wish that the seaweed salad was a larger portion for the price. Would definitely get again but wish they were entirely vegan or had labeled vegan options so you didn’t have to modify.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Friendly/accommodating staff

Cons: Not entirely vegan, Have to modify with no fish sauce/tempura batter

Comfortable and relaxing dinner

Yosaku has an inviting atmosphere for dinner. They are located a little away from commercial street and are often less crowded and noisy than some of the other downtown restaurants. My husband and I really enjoy their veggie sushi. As the previous reviewer mentioned, the options are clearly labeled on the menu, and they have yummy, and clearly labeled veggie appetizers as well. Overall, this is a great place for dinner, especially is you are in the mood for sushi.

Pros: Yummy sushi , Comfortable atmosphere, Friendly staff

Vegan Options - Lovely Interior

The interior of Yosaku is inviting, warm and very neat. They have low seating, where you can take your shoes off and sit cross legged or in supported floor chairs. They also have sushi bar seating and table seating. They ask you which you prefer when you're greeted by the hostess.

We ordered five vegan sushi rolls - an asparagus roll, a shiitake mushroom roll, a Yasai (multiple veggies) roll, a sweet potato roll and a tofu roll. The food was okay, but somewhat bland and not something we'd get again. We'd give other menu items a shot though if we were ever back in the area. The servers were nice and the restaurant was very clean and affordable.

Pros: Affordable, vegan options, Lovely Interior, Friendly Staff

Cons: The sushi we got was just okay

Hot Noodles to Warm You Up

Came here for an anniversary dinner and had a great time.

We ordered the shiitake avocado roll and the sweet potato tempura roll to start, and both were great. Unfortunately their miso soup uses bonito flakes, so it’s not vegan. I got the hot noodles with vegetables and tofu (be sure to request the veggie broth - it comes with fish broth otherwise!) with udon noodles, and it was delicious. My only complaint is it was a tad too salty, but hopefully it was just a fluke. It otherwise hit the spot on a cold night.

If you’re able, be sure to sit at the low tables! You take your shoes off and sit in supported floor chairs - it’s great.😄

Wonderful!

Yosaku has a charming atmosphere with an outdoor patio in the summer and year-round themed decorations inside. There is even a "traditional" style seating area where you are asked to remove your shoes and sit cross-legged at a table.

The service here has always been very attentive and very polite. The wait staff is dressed in traditional Japanese garb.

The food, amazing! There is such a huge selection of sushi. It is always clean and delicious. The tempura is light and crunchy without being oily. There is a wide variety of vegetarian sushi and their menu clearly distinguishes between vegetarian, cooked, and uncooked sushi's.

Have been here many times and will keep going back!

Price range is average to a little above average. It's not the cheapest sushi, but it's the best for the money in Portland!
