Loved it! - Edit
Just had dinner here with my partner. We shared the kimchi pancake, faux tuna nori rolls, the yin & yang charger, and the tofu katsu. Everything was delicious and fairly healthy to boot. The menu is mostly vegan and appears to be pan-Asian but does have a Japanese/Korean slant, so I'd suggest sticking with dishes from that corner of the world for the best result.
We didn't stay for dessert because we had decided to go to the crêperie down the street instead. Total bill came to AU$78 including two glasses of draft kombucha. which I thought was very reasonable. Service was prompt and straightforward.
I found it a bit overwhelming when doing my research as to where to eat in this neighborhood because it teems with veg*n options. In the end, I'm very glad I picked this place.
Pros: great food, good value

Great spot - Edit
We had a raw vegan hawaiian pizza, korean kimchi pancake, soba noodle salad and mock chicken burger all of which were tasty. It's has a nice ambience and staff are friendly. There are heaps of vegan items on the menu. I plan to visit again!

Nom Nom - Edit
Professional service, tasty foods, generous sizes. We got oyster mushroom calamari- highly recommend. Mexican beans were amazing with generous gauc and cashew cream. Japanese curry nice but meh. Good spot overall wish we could have fit in cheesecake or something else from the generous dessert menu. Raw and gluten free options clearly marked
Pros: excellent service and atmosphere , great range of food, great serving sizes

Contentment - Edit
Ordered the oyster mushroom calamari and the Dragon Bowl (rice, tofu, veggies). While both dishes appear unassuming, they offer an invigorating journey of flavour, especially when tasted with the delectable Korean chilli paste. In the end we were filled up to just the right level - perfectly satisfied at a decent price.
Unfortunately a small handful of dairy-based items are offered, and I hope Yong Green decides to drop these as soon as possible. Taking a star off for this reason only.
Pros: Beautiful flavourful food, Calm, clean wooden environment
Cons: Serves dairy

Stand out on busy Brunswick Street - Edit
Had the most beautiful and delicately flavoured meal here recently.
Am slowly working my way through the menu.
Prices are very reasonable, service friendly and attentive, and love the paintings on the wall.
Tables are a little close together but, hey, we wouldn't want people to miss out on a fantastic meal too.
It's great to see the cooks at work and everything seems to work with ease and finesse.
Highly recommended
Pros: Wonderful food, Unusual flavours, Great prices

Consistently good quality - Edit
The katsu tofu is to die for. Great smoothies and service. But really, try the katsu tofu!

Raw food, fast - Edit
The food was good and served very quickly, starters almost at the same time as mains. Dessert was good, small but very filling so just the right size. The place is very simple and minimalistic, it could be a little bit nicer and cleaner. The service is good and the prices are worth it, the food is top quality
Pros: Fast service , Extensive menu, Good prices
Cons: lack of space , could be cleaner

Disappointing - Edit
Yong's was a favourite of mine in the past due to the great service and quality food.
My last two visits were far from favourable unfortunately. A Vegan meal came complete with dairy based sour cream and cheese, yet the staff didn't seem terribly concerned with the error. Aside from that, the meals were lacking in flavour and finesse and the coffees were weak and below par.
It will be a while before I visit again.

Excellent!! - Edit
Yongs is one of my favourite places to eat in Melbourne! I find the food is always tasty and fresh! The Tofu Katsu is AMAZING and the Dragon Bowls are both incredible! The deserts are also excellent! A little bit pricey but good if you're not too worried about spending a bit of money :)
Pros: Friendly Staff , Food is consistently tasty!

Time to drop the dairy. - Edit
I have been to Yong's about 5 times now. 2 good, 2 not bad, 1 dreadful.
The food is generally of a very high standard, they have a large menu and the staff and generally excellent. Prices are a touch on the high side, but if you make the right menu choices, well and truly worth it.
Coffee is average & the pho is pointlessly bland.
The last time that I visited I ordered the nachos (Vegan on request), I asked the waiter twice to make them Vegan, yet he delivered them with dairy sour cream and cheese on them, which I ate some of before my girlfriend noticed the issue. I took them back and they were replaced, but the staff did not seem to see it as a real issue. The Vegan nachos were decidedly lacking in sauce and flavour.
The raw nachos are a much better choice.
Pros: Quality, Staff, Variety
Cons: Dairy, Price

Worth checking out - Edit
Came here for dinner on a Friday night. They don't take bookings, but we had no trouble getting a table for two (though I must say the tables are a little closer together than is standard, making it a bit difficult to move around).
I had was adventurous and had the raw pecan falafel, while my husband had the tofu katsu. He really enjoyed his meal, and I quite enjoyed mine. To be honest, it tasted a bit too "healthy", but it was off the raw menu, so I don't think it's fair to criticize that. The coconut yoghurt with it was amazing. Also, the food was incredibly quick to come out after ordering.
We had to have dessert, of course. Between us we had a caramel slice and a white choc raspberry cheesecake. The caramel slice was amazing, just amazing. The cheesecake was ok, but lacked tang, richness, and depth of flavour.
Overall, we were happy with the experience. I strongly recommend the caramel slice, but next time (and there will be a next time), I think I'll order something that isn't off the raw menu.
Pros: The food was really quick to come out, Huge selection (mostly vegan)
Cons: Staff a bit slow to take orders, A little on the expensive side

lovely (mainly) vegan restaurant - Edit
I never got the chance to try this place as it's always closed when I come past but today was much lucky day and I changed my vegiebar lunch plans as I saw yong was open.
I had the rawsagne and it was delicious!
The other dishes around me looked really great as well and the staff was incredibly friendly.
The only thing I personally don't like is that most non-raw dishes are based on tofu but that's just my personal opinion :)
Pros: huge menu, lovely staff, beautiful location

date destination - Edit
My favourite place in Melbourne for dinner with a sweetheart. I like to sit in the window in the second, larger room off to your right as you come in. The dining area is cozy with cute murals - they are really something special. The care taken with the interior design is also reflected in the food. I almost always order something with kimchi in it, like the pancakes or dumplings, since I love spicy, fermented cabbage and it's hard to find a vegan one in a grocery store (most contain anchovies). I've heard from a reliable source that the women who run this place make their own. I've always found the appetisers more interesting and satisfying than the mains, so tend to get a few small dishes. My partner and I love the "chicken" skewers - a chunk of succulent soy meat on a stick, marinated in sweet, sticky barbecue sauce, served next to a mound of creamy coleslaw. I also found the vegan nachos memorably delicious. To be honest, I've never found any of the main dishes to be outstanding. Although something like the vegan kingfish with miso gravy can be comforting of you feel like a "meat" and 3 veg (+rice) kind of meal. I can't leave without a raw cacao shake. Frozen banana, cacao and almond milk make for a sweet and to the meal that's refreshing and not over-filling.
Pros: vegan kimchi, raw cacao shake, cute interior
Cons: not outstanding mains, often busy and a bit cramped

Absolute Fav Melbourne restaurant - Edit
My partner and I have been visiting Yong Green for years now. Great place. We travel about an hour to get here and visit almost one per week!
Even when they're super busy the guys will try to help you out with a table or some take away. Staff are always friendly and the food is top notch. The venue is cozy and the murals on the walls are very cool. Also really respect the use of Who Gives A Crap toilet paper in the loo.
Our favourite is the Pho (gluten free option). Fresh and delicious.
See you soon Yong Green!! mwahhh
Pros: fresh food, friendly service, clearly labelled vegan, veg and gluten free option

Favourite restaurant in Melbourne! - Edit
Yong Green Food is by far my favourite restaurant in Melbourne! The dishes are amazing, the staff very friendly and accommodating, and the interior looks great! Nearly the whole menu is vegan and the meals are brought out quickly and efficiently. The raw tiramisu is one of the best raw cakes you could get so if you're a fan of tiramisu, do not miss the chance to try it!! The food is inexpensive for what you get, and you really get the feeling that you're welcome there, even when it gets very busy. There is plenty of seating and they also offer takeaway! I'd definitely recommend giving Yong Green Food a visit!
Pros: Amazing food, Well priced, Good atmosphere
Cons: Gets a bit noisy

Really satisfying meal - Edit
We were really spoiled for choice here with many entrees, mains, snack and deserts to choose from. We could have had anything from a full three course meal through to a light snack or quick burger/nacho lunch.
We choose a seaweed salad to share for starters - it was fresh, light and tasty.
I had a Thai Green curry with brown rice and my partner had a Japanese curry. Both were served hot and fresh and very quickly. The waiter was happy to provide us with bowls and additional cutlery so we could share the meals. Both meals were delicious and very satisfying.
We would definitely eat there again!
Pros: Large menu choice, Food tasted fresh, Fast attentive service
Cons: Nothing significant
