Delicious

I love this place. Service is slow and it's always busy but the food is super yummy.

Cons: Bedienung

Good Indian, not spectacular

Food is not too expensive and tastes good. There is a sweet counter at the front so you can buy individual Indian sweets and savouries too.

Great

Enjoyed one of the lunch thali sets here. Lots of food and very cheap. Food was generally very tasty but a couple of the dishes were a bit bland.

Very disappointed, can't recommend

Came there with low expectations, but were still disappointed. Maybe because we were clearly foreign, but service was not good. The waiter didn't seem to understand us, and was neither willing to try. Brought wrong food. Everything we got was too spicy and lacked in everything else except greasiness. Got water, but it tasted heavily chlorinated. Will not come again.

Yummy Indian food

Been here two times so far! Great range of Indian food, everything I’ve tried has been delicious and it’s very reasonably priced. Try the Bendi Fry!

Love it!

Best Indian I had since travelling in India! Super cheap, tasty and simple canteen place with great south and North Indian. Try the dosa, always a fav! Thali sets and lunch and the chains batura are all great. Visited several times. Would recommend if you like authentic Indian!

Pros: All veggie a lot of vegan dishes (ask staff), Tasty, Cheap

Best and cheapest Indian in little India

What a great find! I had the thali set for lunch there. The food was freshly cooked and tasty with crispy papadums. The side dishes served with rice are very generous, not oily or overcooked. Then I had masala dosa and idly for breakfast, which was also very tasty and fresh with great chutneys and sambar. The restaurant itself is air con and very clean. The owners and servers aren't the friendliest bunch, but this can easily be overlooked for the sake of great food and prices. Definitely will go back while I am in Georgetown.

Pros: Central location, Clean and fresh food, Very cheap

Cons: Not very friendly

Delicious, authentic and cheap!!

2 samosas, a masala dosa and a Chana bhatura with giant puri bread plus Diet Coke and lemon juice all came to 22RM. Bargain.

Food was very authentic Indian and tasted great. Staff were helpful and when we asked to use oil not ghee they understood and confirmed ‘no butter’.

Pros: So tasty! , Cheap!

Decent

Had the big thali, and it was nice. It included some decent dishes, and the portion size was also adequate.

Very tasty dinner

Came for dinner and was not disappointed. The place was packed all evening with people queueing for tables (Locals, Indians and foreigners alike!) I did have to ask which dishes were vegan (menu doesn't say) but the chef came to talk to me and knew exactly what I wanted and pointed out various things I could have, and ruled out a few others. I had the Masala Gobi (spicy cauliflower in a very tasty gravy) with onion bhajis (I double checked the dips were dairy free and he said they're made with coconut milk, not cows milk) and a plain roti, so no butter on it! I really enjoyed my meal and it was only $4!

Pros: Staff helping to point out vegan options , Popular place, Unique flavours in the curry

Disappointment

It was absolutely not delicious or tasty, very simple food, they give us the same three souses at all dishes. They don’t have Carry, they don’t have rice (just cold and I don’t know then it was cooked). We really wish to go there two days, and this restaurant was disappointment.

Pros: Many different dishes

Cons: Too simple dishes, not tasty, Naan is not good, Souses are really sad

Really affordable great food. Food was amazing and fed four of us for under 70 MYR. Biggest dosas I've ever seen!

dosa like we had in India

When you first walk in you will notice the restaurant is filled with Indians. Which is a good sign! The dosa was just like we had in Indian. So good! The Chana masala curry was a bit too greasy for me, but the naan made it all up for me. We requested vegan and it was no problem. They won't use ghee, unless you pick it from the menu.

Pros: cheap and good Indian food

Cons: bit too greasy to my taste

Best Indian Food!

I came here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner, and can honestly say it’s the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten (I have not been to India). Be warned that food may be spicy for some.

Both times, I made it clear to the waiter that I do not eat butter, ghee, or milk. For dinner, he pointed out multiple curries and breads without butter or ghee. I got the chenna masala and the onion dosa, coming out to a total of 10 R. The dosa was a huge portion with dipping sauce and the curry was incredibly flavorful.

The next day for lunch, my only option was the lunch chapati set, for 8 R. It was also incredibly filling, flavorful, and delicious.

And, both times they set down the food, they were happy to confirm with me that there was no ghee or milk.
Flavor packed and delicious food with a great price. With more time in George Town, I would come again and again!!

Flavourful affordable Indian food

Last Visit on 06 August 2017:
Flavourful Vegetarian North & South Indian food that packs a punch, good array of meals and snacks at reasonable and affordable prices. Popular among the locals. Could be a bit oily now and then, but still good. Service is ok, could be more attentive. Being in the vicinity of the touristy heritage area, finding car parks is quite a struggle, but is not impossible, just might be a bit far away.

Pros: Flavourful, Good Portions, Affordable & Reasonable

Cons: Service could be better, Difficult Parking

super cheap

Super cheap and delicious! The restaurant was also open to sharing what ingredients they use to make things which was helpful. I didn't use the word vegan but I did ask if they used butter in the naan, for example, which they understood just fine. This place is very popular with the locals which is always a good sign.

Reasonable

We enjoyed the dishes here although I didn't really find them to be anything much better than any of the other Indian places around - there are so many.
I was impressed that they understand vegan clearly. My dish came with a yogurt dressing but they asked me what I wanted instead since I'm vegan. They also knew about which of the sweets did not contain milk or dairy.
If you're looking for an OK Indian meal in Little India then it would do.

Good Food, Chilly Atmosphere

Despite the delicious utthapam, sambhar and chutney, the service - which is a little on the bitchy side - compelled us to seek alternate dining options. Friendly service tends to make up for average fare, whereas great food can never make up for unpleasant service. Such a shame, when Woodlands clearly offers the more superior cuisine of the veg Indian eateries in Penang.

Pros: Great South Indian fare, Very reasonable prices, Air conditioned

Cons: Not the most pleasant staff, Sterile atmosphere

Average

The food is average. The problem I faced is the waiter doesn't understand English. I tried their masala tosai. It was good. The bru coffee was nice as well. However their Paani puri isn't good. I was disappointed.

Pros: A variety of food, Strategic location

Cons: Parking issues, Staff can't speak proper English

Nice atmosphere

Cosy Indian place. Service was friendly and cooperative to find vegan options. Food was good, a little too much onions for my liking, but will try them again. They have a huge menu and offer breakfast too.
