Unimpressive - Edit
I had the lentil burger for lunch, and was pleased there wasn’t an up charge when I asked to swap the cheese for avocado. As another reviewer noted, the salad came out with the creamy or mayonnaisy dressing, so the waiter also brought a bottle of balsamic (even after we had talked about dressing, and I specified vegan and asked whether it was creamy and not vegan). I had to ask for oil on his next round. The oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, and avocado made the meal. I wouldn’t order this again, but I’m willing to try the vegan chili on another visit.

Three vegan items on the menu and they were out of the one I wanted - Edit
This is a nice restaurant, but if you have only three vegan items on the menu, you should make a special effort to always have all three on hand. The only reason we chose it was because the sweet potato and black bean chili sounded really good. It wasn't until we were seated, had our drinks, and were well ensconced that we found out it was unavailable. By then it would have been a huge inconvenience to find another suitable restaurant that actually had an open table. The other vegan items are beet and lentil veggie burger and Beyond Burger, which I wasn't interested in, and a couple of veg items that are mainly dairy, which I don't do. As a pescatarian I had the seaside saffron risotto with shrimp and mussels, which was good. Spouse had the beet and lentil burger and enjoyed it. We ordered an appetizer but our server forgot it, one of several mistakes. Poor thing must have been new, and was mortified and apologetic. It was just as well — the entree portions were generous and completely satisfying. Oh and by the way, the "seaside" outdoor seating area, while pleasant, is next to a 50-foot-wide sandplain meadow backed by 200 feet of sand; the sea was well out of sight.

Cons: Sketchy service, but likely atypical

Pretty good! - Edit
Had the impossible burger (well done) and “greens” (side salad/lettuce). The basaltic dressing was not vegan and clearly cream based so asked for other options. Oil & basaltic vinegar were brought out plus salt & pepper made a fantastic mini salad. Fresh & healthy ish. Was great place for my meat eating companions and I to all find something.

Great Restaurant on the Beach - Edit
Since I first visited a couple of years ago, Waydowntown has expanded their vegan choices.
Read moreI ordered the olive appetizer which was served warm in a delicious marinade. For our vegetarian friends, a breaded cauliflower floret appetizer is available. They accommodated me and veganized the cauliflower dish.
There were 3 vegan entrees available when I visited today - a vegan picadillo served over rice (they were nice to switch out the rice for veggies), a semolina pasta with tomatoes and spinach and a sweet potato and black bean chili.
Surprisingly, there were no desserts available (vegan or not).
Pros: Vegan options, Easily accommodate change requests , Live entertainment
Cons: No dessert options
