Most vegan and healthy options gone - Edit
Since its ownership changed, this place, which used to have lots of vegan options, now just has a few. Their peaceful garden out back is still there, but the vegan choices now are very limited. Disappointing, as there are not many other vegan options available.

Five stars for the vegan options - Edit
There is no fully vegan place in Visalia. Watson’s Veggie Garden offers wonderful vegan options such as the toasted eggless and tofu burger. Unfortunately, the number of vegan options is limited, but they offer to veganize other items on their menu. If you are into whole-food plant-based food, it is probably your best shot in Visalia! The beautiful garden in the back is a bonus!

Great vegan options and a beautiful garden - Edit
We were pleasantly surprised to find the green oasis in the back. The garden was pointed out to us by the friendly waitress after we sat down on the street side. The food was delicious. I ordered a bean soup and the vegan patty burger. My girlfriend (vegetarian) ate the eggplant burger and she liked it very much. We were to hungry to remember to take photos of the food, but I took a photo of the roses in the garden.
Read moreYou should mention you are a vegan. For the bean soup I specified that I wanted it vegan, so they put onions on top instead of cheese, and for burgers they used the vegan mayo.
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Beautiful garden, Friendly staff
Cons: Speaker for order calls a bit quiet

Lots of vegan options - Edit
I don‘t like that they serve everything in plastic. Especially for a restaurant that tries to be healthy and organic and stuff... It‘s not so hard to just serve it in porcelain bowls or something like that. The salad had a slightly weird taste, maybe because it was pre-packaged. The hotdog was tasty.

This place is great - Edit
The owner is SO FRIENDLY. All the staff is really friendly and professional. I've had a few vegan foods from the deli. All were amazing. I had a wrap, quinoa cold salad, and you have to try one of their power salads with the lemon herb dressing! The dressing is so good it always goes so fast! They have a beautiful outdoor eating area as well.

Vegans heaven in Visalia - Edit
5stars! This place is magical and the only place in this town to buy ACTUAL health food. The owners are beautiful kind people and the food is SO delicious. Wait to you see the outside area in the back. Looks like what you see in the movie the secret garden. It is a gem, and pretty much the only place for vegan families to eat. The sweet potato fries are so good, and I can’t recommend this place enough!

Uninspired sandwiches and expensive vitamins. - Edit
Watson's is.... The worst. Yes there are aisles of vitamins. Nothing you can't order elsewhere. Expensive packaged 'health food' items. A small frozen section. Nothing fresh is for sale, so not sure why it's a 'health food store', you'll have to get your fruit and veggies somewhere else. Where?
Read moreNot the deli!
Deli: Ok they make tunafish sammies. Lots of sammies with sprouts and cream cheese. All the burgers are prepackaged / frozen, not made fresh. Once I ordered 2 side salads and was served miniscule salads in tiny plastic dixie cups! Yes, SRSLY!! Might have been 1 spoonful in each cup. For the price, it was appalling.
They have juice. Fresh squeezed juice sounds nice, right? All they sell is carrot juice in, get this, 16 oz size. Who the heck drinks 16 oz of carrot juice?????
Hours? They suck, close at 4pm.
The space is cute enough. What the restaurant needs is for someone to come in and upgrade the menu, offer more things made fresh, innovative tasty food, and hire staff that are friendly. And then stay open!
They are closed Sat and Sun
Would rather drive to fresno than eat another dry, uninspired 'veggie' item here. Just bc it has sprouts doesn't make it 'health food'
Alternative: try SolBol for acai bowls, avo toast and nitro coffee just a few blocks east. They serve fresh healthy food.

It has options for anyone who're Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten free. Smaller selection but has items that can't be found in all the other local chain grocery stores. They're attentive to the individual Custer's needs.

Delicious Deli - Edit
Previous reviews said this was a health food store with a deli in the back. I'd say it's the other way around. The menu for the deli offered many vegan options in salads, sandwiches, burgers and wraps. My wife and I shared two burgers. The Tofu Burger was a substantial slice of marinated tofu with black olives, sauteed peppers. The Eggplant was a tender roasted eggplant slice with onions, tomatoes, peppers. Both also had cheese (be sure to ask for vegan if you don't want dairy). For only $7 each, I thought they were quite good. The menu is about 95% vegan, but watch out for cheese, tuna, sour cream, etc. Luckily there are many vegan subs. Also, deli is only open M-F 10-4, store is open 9-6 M-Th, 8-5 Fri. Not open weekends. Good think I was there on a Thursday afternoon.

Video Tour of Watson's:

While speaking on campus at the College of the Sequoias, as part of the vegan outreach program - 10 Billion Lives - we were referred by a student on campus to check out Watson's - as they are not many other vegan options within an hour of this school.
(We are talking no Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, or other health food options in this town, or in the surrounding area.)
Watson's is located "downtown" and is a nice, homey little store, attached to its eatery that serves some sandwiches and hot food.
My friend ordered a veggie burger sandwich. It was lackluster - both the patty and the lame whole wheat bun it was on, but in a vegan-desert town, I suppose it suffices.
There certainly are vegan options there - cheeses, ice cream, snack products, etc. It's a spacious store, uncramped and stuffy, unlike other small town health food stores I have visited. However, I was not surprised or wowed by the options on hand.
There are some local, organic produce items.
The best part is the large garden backspace behind the store, where you can sit down and munch.
Staff are friendly, and there is plenty of free parking nearby.
Pros: Fresh organic produce, Plenty of parking nearby, Vegan options in an area without
Cons: A bit pricey, no more than any local health food s, Not a huge selection

Decent Vegan Burger - Edit
This cute health food store has a good selection of vegan groceries and quite a few vegan options in the attached deli. I picked up a few treats (vegan, slave-free chocolate and fig bars!) as well as their vegan burger. The patty was alright and the bun left something to be desired, but the addition of sprouts and avocado made this a solid burger. I also recommend adding some ketchup and crushed red chili peppers to give it some zing. And don't forget to check out the peaceful garden in the back of the store!

I love Watson's! - Edit
Watson's is such a great place. I wonder if it should be changed from store to restaurant because they have such a big menu? I really love the vegan eggless egg salad - Yum!!! You can't beat the atmosphere; sitting in the beautiful garden sipping on some iced tea. The store is small, but has a lot of essentials- nuts, vitamins, organic beauty products. I am so glad we have Watson's in Visalia! You should note if you are planning to go there they are closed on weekends and only open during the day.
